Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 688: Are you saying… it is possible for the Twilight to be protected by one of the Guardian Beasts?

"So because the Guardian Beasts are not the deciding factor,

The Sword became one."

Kael’s eyes changed and Ferrakar nodded.

"That is correct.

The Dragonborn of that time was granted two Relics, Relics that tilted the War in his favour despite the Velmourns having multiple Demigods in their ranks.

Ultimately, when my father realised the Velmourns could not win, he decided to give his own life in exchange for the Treaty."

"The Treaty of Vorgath."

Kael spoke out loud.

"Yes."

Ferrakar nodded.

"So just two Relics managed to change the course of the War?"

Kael couldn’t believe it.

"How absurd is that?"

"That is because the Relics were extremely powerful."

Ferrakar spoke in a solemn tone.

"A Sword that can cut through anything.

That simply seems... unfair."

Kael couldn’t help but comment.

"Feraos works in mysterious ways."

Ferrakar shrugged.

That made Kael look at him. Then, he asked a question he had been waiting to ask for a long time.

"Does... Feraos truly exist?"

He had asked this before and from what he knew, even in this world, many people questioned the existence of Gods, especially the Mages.

Even Lavinia never said Lord Feraos existed for certain, so Kael decided to ask a thirteen-hundred-year-old being.

A being who supposedly should have all the answers but—

"I do not know."

The Dragon shook his head.

"What I do know is that there exists a power beyond us. A power we cannot comprehend and that power...

It influences Nerathis.

So if you call that power Feraos, then yes, Feraos exists.

As for who he is, what he wants—

I believe that shall remain a mystery until someone solves it."

Kael stared at the Dragon for a while, understanding the meaning behind his words.

Then—

"What about the other Relic? The umm... what’s it called..."

"The Raiment of Feraos.

An Armour that cannot be pierced through, its wearer cannot die from a wound, even we Guardian Beasts cannot hurt its wearer."

"So it’s impenetrable?"

"Unless it is penetrated by the Judgement of Feraos, then yes, the Raiment of Feraos is impenetrable.

It is an Absolute Armour."

Ferrakar nodded and that made Kael raise an eyebrow.

"So an Absolute Sword and an Absolute Armour, both weapons that could only be used by those with Dragonborn Blood.

It is almost as if... Feraos favours the Dragonborns."

Kael commented.

Ferrakar, however, only laughed at those words.

"Or he despises them."

"Hmm?"

Kael tilted his head in confusion.

That did not seem to be true at all.

Kael thought inwardly, however, the very next second, Edric’s face appeared in his head and it made him frown.

"Wait..."

His frown deepened as he thought more about this.

"With these two weapons, the Drakthar Kingdom can basically do whatever it wants. Why even pretend to be diplomatic? Why not become Tyrants instead?"

He asked more questions.

The questions made Ferrakar nod to himself, seemingly in satisfaction.

"That is because using the two Relics comes with a price."

"What price?"

Kael asked, once again, the Prince’s pale face appearing in his head.

"Life Force."

Ferrakar answered.

"Every time one wears the Raiment of Feraos, they lose half their Life Force."

"And the Judgement of Feraos...?"

"It takes away half the Life Force with every swing."

"...what?"

Kael’s expression changed.

Then, it all connected in his head.

"So Prince Edric..."

"Assuming the Prince had eighty years of life in him and since there were twelve guards chasing him, he must have swung the Sword around twenty times. So when he came here, he only had minutes of life left within him."

"That’s why Eira couldn’t heal him..."

"That is correct."

Ferrakar nodded.

Eira could heal wounds, yes. Even the gravest of wounds if she put her heart into it, but she could not heal a man who had used up all his Life Force.

If that were possible, immortality wouldn’t be an impossible concept.

For a moment, Kael stayed silent.

With all the information Ferrakar had given him, the conversation with the Prince became much clearer.

The Prince believed the King was colluding with Xenthalor, or even the Twilight, which was likely true since Kael saw the same thing in his Vision.

It wouldn’t even be surprising if the King actually was the one behind the Twilight, this must also be the reason no one managed to find any traces of the Twilight.

How could they? When one of the strongest men in the world, the one the entire world was relying on to catch the enemies, was behind the enemy all along?

So when Prince Edric found out the truth, and during his investigation, he also found out how the man who was prepared to ruin the entirety of Nerathis now had access to the strongest Relics in the world—

"Wait."

Suddenly, Kael’s thought process paused again.

He turned back to Ferrakar and asked another question.

"What if the Twilight won?"

He asked.

Ferrakar stared at him, waiting for him to continue.

"What if, in the end, the Twilight wins? What would the Guardian Beasts do?"

"Nothing."

Ferrakar shook his head.

"If a force wins and the victory doesn’t destroy Nerathis in the process, the Guardian Beasts would not move."

"I do not understand. If the Twilight wins, there is a possibility that all the Beasts in Nerathis will become corrupted. Won’t that be akin to the end of the world?"

"No, that would merely be an Era of Corruption, which later might lead to either another rebellion from the uncorrupted or to the complete extinction of life.

Nerathis will not be affected by either."

Ferrakar shook his head again and those words made Kael’s face turn even more solemn.

"So the Guardian Beasts would not destroy the Twilight?"

Kael frowned.

"If they are told to, they would."

"What are you trying to say?"

Kael was now very confused.

Ferrakar took a small pause, then, he stared at Kael and—

"Let’s say you manage to find the Twilight, then you tell me to destroy them. Then, as a Guardian Beast who has sworn to remain by your side, I will destroy them.

But that is only possible when you know where the Twilight is and...

There is no Guardian Beast protecting them."

"Wait...

Are you saying... it is possible for the Twilight to be protected by one of the Guardian Beasts?"

Kael’s expression changed.

Ferrakar, however, only frowned at that question.

"Why would you not consider that a possibility?

As I said, as long as they do not destroy Nerathis—

There is no power stopping the Guardian Beasts from offering their protection to the Twilight."
