Chapter 515: I have unlimited supplies.
Chapter 515: I have unlimited supplies.
“You can’t just march Stonefangs through the main gates! People will think we’ve been invaded! No matter how much you prepare! There will be riots!”
Kayden raised his voice.
There were too many questions in his head, too many suspicions, and honestly, what surprised him even more was that these people— even his own mother—were going through with this absurdity.
Just what were they thinking!?
Had they been brainwashed!?
His mind couldn’t help but come up with absurd possibilities and he couldn’t be blamed. This entire situation was absurd.
The people they considered enemies for generations were now prepared to follow them to their homes!? Let’s say the Velmourn side had lost their minds, what about the Stonefangs!? Weren’t they worried they would be surrounded the moment they entered Velmourn Home? What if there were traps hidden just to hunt them down? What if it was all a plan to get rid of all tribes one by one?
Why weren’t they thinking about these possibilities!?
And…
And the more they did not think this through, the more suspicious the Stonefangs became in his eyes.
Not to mention, it wasn’t just about the Velmourns and Stonefangs’ leaders either. Even if the leaders agreed, the people never would.
There would be too many arguments, too many fights, too many… murders.
It would be chaos!
And no one would be able to control it!
“It will be difficult, I do not deny that.”
In answer to Kayden’s strong outburst, Kael replied calmly.
“I too do not want riots. So at the beginning, the two sides won’t live together. They won’t share the same area. The Stonefangs will settle near the Outer Quarter.”
“The Outer Quarter?”
Morvain raised a brow.
“Yes. We will shift the Velmourns living there somewhere else. The southern quarters have space, the eastern has quite a bit too.
Anyway, housing won’t be an issue—not for now at least.
We can house the Stonefangs in the Outer Quarter temporarily, so that the two sides do not interact on a daily basis.
However, with time, the Stonefangs need to be assimilated into the society—into the work, into the army—slowly, so that unity can be cultivated and the two sides begin accepting each other.”
“You want… Unity…? After practically forcing the two sides that have been enemies for generations to live together…?”
Kayden blinked at the absurdity of those words but Kael—
“I want survival.
If you want the same, you have no choice but to make it work.”
He answered, and this time, his tone was far stricter than before.
“Do not treat me like a fool, Kayden.
I too can find hundreds of faults with the plan—every single person standing here can.
You think I, Lavinia, the Matriarch, the Stonefang warriors, or the Stonefang Chief can’t think what you are thinking? Do you think we are blind!? Or are we too foolish in your eyes!?”
Kael raised his voice, and for a moment, silence fell over the place. Even the translators didn’t translate Kael’s words because of how overwhelmed they were, but the Stonefangs—who didn’t understand anything he said—didn’t counter or raise their voices either, because even though they couldn’t understand his words, they could *feel* the intensity of the Flying Man’s voice.
Kayden lowered his head and clenched his fist, unable to come up with a reply, and then, after Kael calmed down a little, he exhaled deeply and in a lower voice—
“I have said it multiple times, and I will say it again.”
He began.
“I understand there are problems, I understand there are suspicions, and I do not blame you or anyone for it.
But what you need to understand is that we might be facing ALL of the tribes of Heights in a direct war anytime soon.
We need to get all the help we possibly can, and Stonefangs…
They are one of the strongest help we can get.
We absolutely need them for our survival.”
Kael repeated the same words for the nth time now, and he was willing to say them the nth more times.
It was THAT important.
In the end, Kayden didn’t say anything. He didn’t agree with any of this and his doubts didn’t fade even now, but… he also understood that every single person here held the same uncertainty he did but suppressed their thoughts because that was what was required.
*He* was the childish one here—the one who wasn’t thinking things through. Not them.
After the long silence, the one who broke it was Zakaar, who began translating Kael’s words. Freyal too began helping with the translations and as the air lightened a little—
“Food, Flying Man take care.”
Gruumak spoke.
“Yes, leave that to me.”
Kael answered confidently.
“How?”
The Stonefang Chief asked. He had let this matter go before, but now that they were finally discussing everything thoroughly, he needed more certainty.
At that question, Kael glanced at Lavinia.
After all, only the two of them knew the real truth, and they needed to be… very, very careful. Therefore, Kael wanted to let Lavinia handle it, and the Mage instantly understood.
She then glanced at the Stonefang Chief and then—
She took out the Gel the Ants created from her Sanctuary and passed it to him.
The Stonefang Chief frowned at the strange blue thing presented to him and Lavinia—
“Eat it.”
She spoke. Zakaar translated her words and the next instant—
“Dangerous! Could be poison!”
“Chief, I eat!”
“No! I do it!”
The Stonefang warriors raised their concerns, some even stepped forward to test the poison themselves.
Freyal, from behind, slowly translated their words, making Kayden’s expression uglier, but this time, he didn’t say anything since he could see himself reacting the same way as well.
But again—
Gruumak raised his hand, silencing his warriors. He too had his doubts, but this was the woman the Flying Man trusted, and this moment was the beginning of their trust. He couldn’t ruin it with suspicion, so despite having doubts—
The Stonefang Chief took the Gel and put it in his mouth. And the next instant, his eyes opened wide, his odd reaction instantly alerting the Stonefang warriors.
“Chief! What happened!?”
“What did you do!?”
In an instant, weapons came out. Kayden too unsheathed his sword, ready to defend Kael and Lavinia, but then—
“I said silence!”
Gruumak raised his voice—this time, much louder than before.
The Stonefang warriors flinched at his shouts, instantly backing down like tamed beasts, losing all the ferociousness they displayed a few moments ago.
Then, Gruumak turned towards Lavinia and—with a slightly awkward look on his face and his large finger scratching his temple—
“You… have more…?”
He asked after a hesitation, his words making the Stonefang warriors freeze in shock and horror.
Even Zakaar couldn’t believe what he was hearing and failed to translate, but Lavinia didn’t need translation this time. She could read the man’s face and suddenly—
Tens of Gels appeared in her hand, floating around her as she began using Spirit Wind Magic. A circle-less spell that instantly made the Stonefang warriors widen their eyes in shock.
“Witch!”
“No circle! Strange Magic! Like Flying Man!”
“She Flying Man too!?”
“She Woman!”
The Stonefang warriors reacted, their Chief however had his eyes fixed on the Gels floating in front of him.
“Have as much as you want.”
Lavinia spoke, and with a wave of her hand, the Gels moved toward not just the Stonefang Chief, but the other Stonefang warriors as well.
The Stonefang warriors were confused; again, because of everything that was happening, no one translated the words. But the Stonefang Chief just stared at his men and—
“Eat.”
He ordered as he himself began eating the Gel.
The warriors followed their orders, and the instant the Gel went into their mouths—just like it happened with their chief—
“!!!”
Their eyes widened as well.
“What this!?”
“Witch’s Food!”
“Magic Food!”
“Too sweet!”
“Never had this!”
“More!”
“More! More! More!”
Now, the way the warriors looked at Lavinia changed completely, and once again, Lavinia didn’t need translations to understand what they were saying. With a smile, she waved her hand again and this time—
Hundreds of gels appeared in the air—
“Ooooohhh!!!”
“So much Magic Food!”
“Witch God! Food God!!”
The Stonefangs lost their minds. Lavinia moved the Gels toward them and she didn’t stop there. The instant she saw any Stonefang even *look* at her, she threw ten more Gels at him.
Yes, the plan was simple.
Overwhelm the hungry with food—so much food that they no longer stand against her and…
The plan worked.
The fierce Stonefang warriors, within 15 minutes, were all looking at Lavinia with puppy eyes.
It wasn’t just them, even Gruumak’s hard gaze had softened comparatively, and when Lavinia was sure it was enough, she looked into Gruumak’s eyes and—
“This food.
I have unlimited supplies.”
She revealed, and the instant Zakaar heard and understood those words, his eyes widened in disbelief.
He…
He was already sold.
