Chapter 348: Well-deserved sleep.
Chapter 348: Well-deserved sleep.
“Alrisa said she would be here to pick me up at six.”
Kael mentioned with a sneaky smile and in an instant, Lavinia paused.
“You are really enjoying this, aren’t you?”
She called out as she turned around with a ’slight’ smile on her face. A smile that made Kael nervous for some reason.
“W-What do you mean?”
Kael tried to keep his composure.
“This Alrisa, I mean. The two of you seem to have gotten quite close, haven’t you?”
“It is nothing like that. We are in an unfamiliar place and she knows all about it. She can answer all the questions we have, almost all of what I told you was what she told me.”
He tried to explain himself. For an instant, he was regretting bringing Alrisa’s name up again. He knew it wasn’t a good decision to begin with, but he just couldn’t resist the thought of teasing the Princess a little.
But—
“She sounds incredibly skilled.”
Lavinia praised with the same ’smile’ and Kael…
“A-Actually, now that I think about it, it isn’t exactly a big deal, anyone could have told me all tha—”
He tried salvaging the position, but the Princess was now prepared.
This was what she had been thinking about for the past few hours.
A way to get back at Kael.
“You know.”
She began, interrupting Kael mid-sentence.
“While I was teaching, Aelindra came to me and gave me a letter hidden inside another report I requested from her.
It was Kayden’s.”
Kael’s expression changed when he heard that name.
Lavinia, who noticed that, grinned slightly.
“He told me that after his fight with you, he has become interested in magic. When the Matriarch told him about my Trueflow Magic, he became even more interested, but since he is a warrior who knows nothing about magic, he is quite embarrassed to learn together with children.
Therefore, he requested me to teach him magic for two hours privately after I am done teaching others.”
She spoke, putting more focus on the word private, as if making sure Kael hears it. When she saw Kael’s fists clenched up at that, her grin widened and—
“I first thought of rejecting him, but after hearing about Alrisa, I changed my mind.”
Lavinia took a slight pause, enjoying the face Kael was currently making and then—
“What you say is correct.
Alrisa is quite talented, and so is Kayden. He is also the Matriarch’s son, so he has quite a lot of influence here that we can use in the future. Also, didn’t he come in your vision, so we also know he can be trusted.
I believe this will be a good opportunity to get clos—”
“Alright, alright, you win.”
Kael snorted as he then grabbed her hand and,
“Let’s sleep.”
He spoke in a frustrated tone.
“Okay~”
Lavinia nodded with a smile. Once again, the two of them got into the familiar position. Lavinia held Kael’s arm, staring at him with a playful smile.
The tables had turned.
“What you said before was correct.”
Suddenly, Kael spoke up.
“What do you mean?”
“This is an unfamiliar place, we cannot trust anyone but each other here.”
“Mhm.”
The Princess nodded, smiling ear to ear.
“Even the Visions aren’t very trustworthy now.”
“Really? Aren’t your Visions the reason we met in the first place?”
Lavinia questioned ’innocently’.
“It is not the same.”
Kael shook his head.
“A lot has changed. In the Vision, I only have power over Dragons, but now I have more powers. As we progress further, we are deviating from the original timeline. We cannot trust the Visions blindly.”
“Is that so…?”
“Yes, so we can’t blindly trust Kayden either.”
Kael spoke. He then looked right into Lavinia’s eyes and—
“Don’t forget, doubt everything and everyone you see.”
“Mhm.”
The Princess nodded again, as if understanding everything Kael was saying.
In her mind, however, she couldn’t help but be satisfied. Bringing up Kayden was indeed the right choice.
She felt strange when Kael fought Kayden, especially since she knew of his personality. The way he ended things with a Roar of Dominion seemed quite out of character as well.
And now,
It all made sense.
Kael was jealous because Kayden got close to her and complimented her.
And this made Lavinia’s grin widen.
She was used to getting compliments for her appearance, so initially, Kayden’s compliment didn’t really make much of a difference to her either, but seeing as how it affected Kael, she began replaying the entire thing in her mind.
Of course, instead of Kayden, her focus was still on Kael, who quickly stepped in between the two of them and pushed him away.
“We really can’t trust anyone but each other, huh…”
She muttered, adjusting her body as she got even closer to Kael. Because of big boy Nyrri on top of him, Kael’s movements were restricted, but it still didn’t stop him from slowly dragging his body near the Princess.
“That is correct.”
He nodded.
“No one but us.”
“No one but us.”
Lavinia repeated as she finally rested her face on Kael’s shoulder and closed her eyes. Kael did the same, and after their father, the children followed.
The only exception to this was… the Fox.
The little Fox stared at Lavinia with her bright purple eyes and then—
She entered the Princess’s dream.
“You did well.”
The Fox praised.
“Thank you for helping me, Lady Vitaria.”
Lavinia bowed and the Fox just smirked.
Yes, the one behind Lavinia’s answer was none other than the Fox, who, while they were having dinner, showed Lavinia the time when Kayden met them the first time. Of course, the illusion she showed only focused on Kael’s expression. Kayden’s face wasn’t even clear in it, but Lavinia instantly got what the Fox wanted her to do.
“I didn’t do anything.
I just wanted you to use Father’s jealousy against him.”
“And your plan worked.”
“Of course it did~”
The Fox laughed.
After the small conversation that went unnoticed, even by Imperia, the Fox returned from Lavinia’s dream and slept next to her father.
Yes, after setting everything up perfectly, it was finally time for her to have her well-deserved sleep.
