Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 315: Blood…? From that…?

Chapter 315: Blood…? From that…?

“Stop running away and face me!!”

Kayden shouted as he glared at Kael, and Kael laughed,

“Try again, I promise I wouldn’t run away this time.”

“Aaagggghhh!!”

Kayden didn’t hold back. He completely ignored the fact that he was completely following Kael’s rhythm. For him, the duel was no longer about technique or mid-battle psychology; he simply wanted to hit Kael.

And he did.

He appeared right next to Kael and unleashed a fearsome punch right at his face.

BOOM

A huge bang was heard as the punch connected.

“…huh?”

Kayden, however, noticed something odd.

He should have hit Kael. He should have been sent flying, so… why does it feel like he had hit an absurdly strong wall instead?

He frowned.

He glanced at Kael, and as he focused in, he realized that his punch hadn’t actually touched Kael’s face. It had stopped about 2 cm away from his face.

An almost transparent barrier had blocked his full-power punch completely, and Kael…

He whistled.

“Whew~

That was close.”

He chuckled as his eyes glanced at another one of his skills, the one he activated after reaching Level 35,

[Skill: Resonant Guard]

[Description:]

[The Host calls upon the protective instincts of his bonded Beasts, forming an automatic shield of ancestral energy around himself or an ally when danger strikes.]

[Effect:]

[Instantly forms a barrier of ancient energy when the Host or a chosen ally is about to receive a fatal or heavy blow.]

[The barrier absorbs damage equal to 300% of the Host’s defense stat.]

[If the shield is not broken, it lingers for 3 seconds.]

[Activates instantly once cast.]

[Duration: Until broken or 3 seconds after formation]

[Cooldown: 90 seconds]

A protective skill, and considering Kael’s defense stat was in the 180s, 300% of that would be 500.

A shield with a defense stat of 500—Kael could tell how absurdly strong that was. It was comparable to the defensive skin Legendary, Level 99 Bond Varyon showed him before.

Kael couldn’t even imagine what sort of absurdly strong attack power one would need to actually break this barrier.

“W-What is this…?”

Kayden blinked in surprise. The absurdity of this situation couldn’t be explained.

“H-How are you casting all these spells without any circles!? No, when are you casting them!? I am not giving you any window! What sort of Mage are you!?”

He asked all the questions in his head, and Kael tilted his head,

“Mage?

Who said I was a Mage?”

“Wha…?”

Before Kayden could understand what those words meant, Kael gently placed his palm on Kayden’s chest and,

“I’ll hold back, but don’t get hurt, okay?”

He smiled as suddenly—

BOOM

Kayden was sent flying and crashed on the ground after the impact.

In an instant, heavy silence descended in the area.

It was one thing that the foreigner was using all these strange spells that none of them were able to understand, but sending the Young Patriarch flying—and that too with such ease?

They couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

No one, not even a single soul, was able to react to this sight.

Even the Matriarch, who usually stayed calm in all situations, was frozen stiff. Korvath stared at the sparring ground and then at Lavinia, who was the only person who stared at the result without any change in her expression.

’He is up against the Hero.’

He recalled the words she said before and the absolute certainty she said them with, and suddenly, a chill ran down his spine.

Could… he defeat the Hero?

He once again stared at the man standing in the middle of the sparring ground. The Hero seemed… distracted?

’He’s distracted?? In the middle of the battle!?’

Korvath’s frown deepened. Even if he had a clear advantage, he did not like how the Hero was acting. Being careless in the middle of the battlefield meant only one thing:

Death.

’This isn’t good.’

Korvath’s face turned solemn. Somewhere in his heart, he wanted Kayden to use this chance to take the Hero by surprise and change the situation around.

Completely oblivious to his thoughts, Kael continued to stare at his last skill, the one he got after reaching Level 25,

[Skill: Relic Storm]

[Description:]

[Calls down shards of ancient energy infused with primal force to strike enemies across the battlefield.]

[Effect:]

[Targets up to 6 enemies, dealing area-based magic damage. The damage scales with Host’s Mana stat.]

[Each strike lowers enemy elemental resistance by 15% for 5 seconds.]

[Has a 15% chance to apply ’Weakened Will’ to the affected enemies.]

[Cooldown: 2 minutes]

An AOE skill—a quite useful one too, but the problem was…

’Should I use it on him…?’

Kael thought inwardly as he glanced at the man in front of him.

In an instant, his eyes turned golden and,

[Name: Kayden Velmourn]

[Race: Human]

[Age: 25]

[Level: 71]

[Strength: 150]

[Agility: 135]

[Speed: 120]

[Stamina: 140]

[Defense: 145]

[Mana: 46]

[Intelligence: 75]

[Charisma: 100]

[Strengths: Supreme Combat Prowess, Unyielding Resilience]

[Weaknesses: Low Mana, Overreliance on Physical Combat]

Kayden was strong, no doubt about it.

More than that, his talent was much higher than the people Kael met all this while. He was almost as strong as Arlan—the face of Drakthar Warriors—and was 10 years younger than him.

He was beyond the level of genius.

The only other person who was better than him was Lavinia, but that girl was a monster in her own right, so Kael never considered her to be part of the equation.

“Khawwk! Khawwkk!!”

While Kael was thinking all that, Kayden coughed as he moved from the ground. As he tried to stand up, his body trembled. Soon, his eyes widened in fright as he realized that he had just coughed out blood.

’Blood…? From that…?’

He couldn’t believe it.

Kael had barely touched him.

Kael, who saw his reaction, sighed inwardly.

’Ugghh, whatever. Let’s not take any pointless risks.’

The decision was made. So to end this, Kael instantly appeared next to the fallen Kayden. He crouched and brought his face right in front of the surprised Kayden, then, his eyes turned golden, mouth distorted and—

“RRROOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!”

[Roar of Dominion.]
