“Brother!” Ning Lingyu threw away the mop and darted out of the door into Ling Yun’s arms.

Ling Yun had not anticipated Ning Lingyu’s reaction so he was stunned as he reached out with his arms. “Er… Lingyu, what’s going on?”

Ning Lingyu embraced him very tightly as if she was afraid that he would disappear again. She only let go of him after a long period of time and lifted her head up.

Ling Yun got a shock when he noticed Ning Lingyu’s weary expression and bloodshot eyes. “Lingyu, who bullied you? Why are your eyes so red?”

“It’s because I stayed up too late! All because of you!” Of course, Ning Lingyu would not admit that it was because she had cried several times while she was so worried about him.

“Why were you waiting for me? Didn’t I say that I’d be back home really late and you and mom didn’t have to wait up? Moreover, I have the house keys with me.”

Ning Lingyu pouted her cherry lips and glared at Ling Yun as she replied pitifully, “How is this coming home late? You didn’t even come home at all! I… Mom and I were worried sick!”

“I went to train my body, what’s there to worry about?”

“Well, you couldn’t possibly have trained for the entire night, right? You didn’t even bring your phone and we couldn’t contact you, I panicked so much!”

“Er… I ran ten kilometers and was really tired so I thought I’d take a nap. I didn’t expect to fall asleep. By the time I woke up, it was morning already…”

Ling Yun gave her the excuse that he had prepared in advance.

As Ning Lingyu looked into Ling Yun’s eyes and saw how clear and bright they were, it did not look like he was lying. She could no longer hold in her laughter as she burst into giggles, her beautiful smile was as bright as a flower blooming in spring.

It was as if her brother’s return was the most blissful thing that could happen to Ning Lingyu.

“Seriously, sleeping on the streets just to lose weight, was it really necessary? No one’s called you fat anyway…”

No one has called me fat? They were still calling me a fat pig two days ago if it wasn’t for your brother’s impeccable power and might…

“Ah! Brother, you really do look skinnier!” Ning Lingyu shrieked as if she’d discovered a new island and reached out with her slender fingers to touch Ling Yun’s dimple on his left cheek.

Out of everyone in the world, Ning Lingyu was probably the only one who dared to touch Ling Yun without any sort of fear.

Ling Yun chuckled as Ning Lingyu playfully pressed on his dimple, “Of course. Your brother has been working so hard to lose weight, there has got to be some kind of results, right?”

Ning Lingyu giggled as a strange glee flashed through her eyes. Suddenly, she reached out and grabbed onto Ling Yun’s left arm, exactly like Zhang Ling had done.

“Let’s go home.”

“Mom, Brother’s home.” Ning Lingyu yelled into the house excitedly the moment they stepped into the backyard.

Qin Qiuyue quickly dashed to the door and her caring gaze landed on Ling Yun. A hint of shock could be seen on her face as her gaze casually swept past him, but it quickly disappeared without a trace.

“It’s good that you’re back. Ling Yun, next time if you’re not coming home at night, just tell us straight away so your sister and I won’t have to worry about you.”

Initially, Ling Yun had been prepared to explain himself once again, but he had not expected Qin Qiuyue to deprive him of a chance to explain. In fact, it seemed as if she granted him the privilege of staying out for the night.

He finished washing up. Actually, when Ling Yun had been reborn, his body had been cleansed by celestial energy and he had been completely transformed. Now that he had reached the peak of Physique Tempering Stage Level 2, his body was almost completely free of any impurities or dirt.

That was the source of his refreshing, unique, and attractive scent. Otherwise, Liu Li would not have been left in a daze after she observed him for a while.

But Ling Yun was still unable to reject Ning Lingyu’s good intentions when he saw that his cute little sister had prepared his toothbrush and toothpaste as well as handed him a towel.

It was almost 8 am by the time his family finished breakfast. Ning Lingyu was tidying up the dining table and Qin Qiuyue gave Ling Yun a loving smile and said, “Go rest up since you didn’t get a decent night of sleep last night. Even though you’ve managed to lose some weight, don’t overexert yourself…”

Ling Yun nodded his head embarrassedly.

When he returned to his room, he noticed that his cell phone was done charging, thus he plugged the SIM card for the phone number ‘…20999999’ into his phone and switched it on.

Xue Meining had told him that she was going to call him today. Moreover, Tang Meng was also going to contact him to update him on the outcome of his house hunting.

Then, Ling Yun began to inspect his own bedroom.

The room’s arrangement was very simple. A bed, a book rack, a study desk, a chair, as well as a clothes rack.

Even though it was simple, his room was extremely tidy and clean. Not a single speck of dust could be seen.

The sandalwood casing was still sitting in the same corner. It had not even moved an inch.

“Mom has good control. Anyone who catches a glimpse of this sandalwood casing would know that there’s something interesting in it, but mom just could not be bothered.”

Ling Yun muttered to himself.

What he did not know was, apart from Qin Quiyue’s indifference, she had even stopped Ning Lingyu when her daughter had been tempted to open it out of curiosity last night.

“What your brother brings home is not for you to touch.” These had been Qin Quiyue’s exact words.

Ling Yun opened up the book rack. “So many medical books, this fellow…”

The book rack was split into two rows and both rows were filled with medical textbooks. The upper row contained textbooks regarding western medicine, whereas the books in the bottom row were all about traditional Chinese medicine.

Ling Yun couldn’t care less about western medicine textbooks as he bent over and began to inspect the traditional Chinese medicine books on the bottom row.

<Compendium of Materia Medica>, <Shanghan Lun>, <Yao Jing>, <Shennong Ben Cao Jing>, <Nan Jing>, <Huangdi Neijing-Su Wen>, <Zhenjiu Lun>, <Mai Jing>…

So, this is traditional Chinese medicine. There are so many books though. So, instead of studying, this fellow researched these every day? I assume he’s been through a lot of pain and suffering thanks to his terrible body.

“Huh? <Huangdi Neijing-The Spiritual Pivot>?! It can’t be this coincidental, right?!”

Ling Yun was shaken to the core when he accidentally discovered a thin blueish-black colored book at the very end of the book rack.

It was impossible for him to stay calm because the reason he had begun studying medicine in Cultivation World and ultimately ended up on the path of self-cultivation was that he accidentally found an inconspicuous looking medical miracle book.

That book was called <The Spiritual Pivot>!

He had learned how to execute the Nine Needles of The Spiritual Pivot from <The Spiritual Pivot>.

“The additional ‘Huangdi Neijing’ should be nothing, right? However, just based on the words ‘The Spiritual Pivot’ alone, this book is definitely worth exploring…”

“Huangdi Neijing… Wasn’t Huangdi the guy who fought Chiyou in the Battle of Zhuolu and relied on the south-pointing chariot to defeat Chiyou?”

Even though Ling Yun was not familiar with the ancient tales of China, there were still fragmented pieces of memories in his brain that carried this information. Not to mention that this same information was mentioned in his history textbooks, thus, he had acquired a basic understanding of Huangdi.

Ling Yun quickly heaved a sigh of relief as he realized that Cultivation World and Earth were two completely different words. Putting the distance between them aside, no one knew if they were even in the same universe or time and space. A book would definitely be different in the two different worlds.

Ling Yun casually drew out <The Spiritual Pivot> from the book rack.

As he was getting ready to dive into the book, Ning Lingyu suddenly barged into his bedroom.

“Brother, there are two months left until the college entrance examinations. Why are you still holding onto these antiques instead of revising for the exam?”

Ning Lingyu could not help but furrow her eyebrows and nag at him as she saw her brother flipping through the medical textbooks that he had painstakingly collected from so many places.

“That’s because I’m interested, so I want to do some research…” Ling Yun let out a chuckle.

Ning Lingyu suddenly looked out the window before lowering her voice and asking in a mysterious tone, “Brother, what’s inside the wooden box that you brought home last night?”

Qin Qiuyue’s refusal to let Ning Lingyu open the box just spurred her curiosity on. Who could blame her? Ling Yun had changed so much in the past few days!

Ling Yun uncontrollably scratched Ning Lingyu’s sharp nose when he saw how mysterious she looked. “You want to know? Why not just open it yourself and take a look?”

“Ah?! Brother, you’re really letting me see what’s in it?” Ning Lingyu was taken aback because she had thought it was her brother’s secret and assumed that he would never show it to her. She had not expected Ling Yun to agree right away without hesitation.

Ling Yun gently placed <The Spiritual Pivot> on the study desk before turning to face a surprised Ning Lingyu. “My things are your things too, why can’t you take a look? If you like it, you can have it all!”

A relaxed smile crept onto his face as those words left his mouth.

Obviously, he was relaxed and casual about it. It was because that was his younger sister!

But Ning Lingyu, on the other hand, was shaken to the core! As she looked at Ling Yun’s charming smile, she tried her best to suppress her excitement, as well as an odd feeling that was bubbling within her.

“My things are your things too. If you like it, you can have it all!”

This sentence had repeated for a million times in her head in just a split second and left her in a complete daze.

“Lingyu? Lingyu! What are you thinking about? Open it and take a look!”

“Ah…Ah? Oh, don’t mind if I do!” Ning Lingyu finally recovered from her shock and began to blush furiously when she realized she had been in a daze as she desperately tried to change the topic.

With her fair hands, Ning Lingyu lifted up the lid of the sandalwood casing. “Wow… So pretty!” Before the wooden casing was fully opened, she had already caught a glimpse of the beautiful translucent jade box.

At the same time, Ling Yun was also in awe as he looked at the green light reflecting onto Ning Lingyu’s fair and beautiful face, making her look even dreamier. She was just like a fairy from the heavens!

If one day, she could put on the outfits worn by the princesses in Cultivation World, how beautiful would she be?

I just don’t know which scumbag my fairy-like sister will fall in love with in the end!

As Ling Yun was secretly cursing the fellow who would steal Ning Lingyu’s heart in the future, he heard her asking softly, “Brother, this jade box is really beautiful, can I touch it?”
