Dragon Blood Saint Emperor

Chapter 581: Public Fury

  • Next Chapter

The massacre was over quickly. Rivers of blood flowed and bones piled up like mountains. Of the five thousand Celestial Wolf Army soldiers, not one survived.

When Ye Wushuang arrived, he was met with a horrifying sight: human heads impaled on pikes.

Pairs of bloodshot eyes were wide, eyeballs bulging as if in defiance.

"AHH!"

Gazing upon the brutal scene, some of the soldiers who had followed him let out anguished roars to the heavens.

Every man’s nails dug into his palms. Many were already in tears. Five thousand men, all decapitated.

Ye Wushuang’s brow furrowed as he stared at a blood-red banner in the center of the carnage.

"Five thousand heads, for Ye Wushuang."

The five bloody words written on it made Ye Wushuang’s gaze turn utterly glacial.

"Qian Heng, I’ll fucking kill you!"

Unable to bear it any longer, some of the Celestial Wolf Army soldiers behind him mounted their Gale Demon Wolves and charged back toward the camp, their eyes filled with killing intent.

"Damn bastard!"

Yang Yan and the others were also overcome with grief and fury.

"This blood debt must be repaid. They killed five thousand of the Celestial Wolf Army, so I will slaughter one hundred thousand of theirs in return!"

Ye Wushuang was truly enraged. The Beastman leader had specified him by name; they had to know him.

This was personal.

"Take our fallen with us. We’re going back."

Ye Wushuang said icily, then turned and headed for the Celestial Pass Mountain Range.

"Qian Heng, get the hell out here!"

The Celestial Pass Mountain Range erupted. A mob of soldiers with bloodshot eyes charged toward Qian Heng’s tent.

"What do you think you’re doing?"

Qian Heng emerged from his tent with a dark expression and barked at them.

A powerful Profound Level aura erupted from him, blasting back the Celestial Wolf Soldiers at the front of the crowd.

"Qian Heng, you bastard! You sent five thousand of our brothers to their deaths, and you have the nerve to ask us what we’re doing? We’re here for an explanation! We’re here to demand justice for our fallen brothers!"

Unafraid, the Celestial Wolf Soldiers surged forward once more.

"What justice? How was I supposed to know the Beastman Empire was so cunning they’d set a trap? If you want to blame someone, blame Ye Wushuang! If he hadn’t riled everyone up and mobilized the entire Celestial Wolf Army, would we have suffered such a crushing defeat? If you want justice, go demand it from him!"

Qian Heng forced himself to remain composed, shouting loudly as he shifted all the blame onto Ye Wushuang.

At this, the Celestial Wolf Soldiers grew even more enraged.

Five thousand of their brothers had been brutally slaughtered because of this one man’s recklessness, yet he showed not a shred of remorse!

He was even trying to shirk all responsibility!

"Get out of my way! If you continue to cause trouble in front of my tent, I’ll have you dealt with according to military law—executed on the spot!"

Qian Heng warned them coldly.

"Go on then. Try executing one of us."

The next instant, an icy voice rang out from behind the crowd.

The crowd immediately parted, clearing a path for a figure in purple robes who was walking toward them.

"Ye Wushuang!"

Qian Heng’s eyes filled with venom. He swept his gaze over the Celestial Wolf Soldiers and roared, "You want an explanation, don’t you? Go get it from him! This is all his fault!"

"Qian Heng, stop spouting such utter bullshit! You have the gall to frame Young Master Ye."

Hearing Qian Heng’s words, Yang Yan, who was standing to the side, flew into a rage. He glared at Qian Heng, his eyes filled with killing intent.

"Young Master Ye warned us that the enemy was planning something and gave a direct order for no one to deploy. But you, acting on your own selfish impulse, led the Celestial Wolf Army into an attack, causing five thousand of our brothers to die for nothing!"

"Then you ran away by yourself! Not only did you use five thousand brothers as cannon fodder, but you’re also shamelessly shirking all responsibility without a hint of remorse. You’re the real culprit here! You’re the one who deserves to die!"

...

Yang Yan’s furious roar only fueled the resentment of the Celestial Wolf Soldiers. Their eyes blazed with killing intent, as if they wanted to tear Qian Heng to shreds.

"Atone with your life!"

"Atone!"

The soldiers were livid. Qian Heng’s attitude had thoroughly enraged them.

Many of those five thousand brothers had faced death countless times and survived. But because of this one man, Qian Heng, they were all slaughtered. He had to pay the price for their lives!

"Qian Heng, if you have a single shred of conscience left, you will take your own life in atonement for our five thousand fallen brothers right now," another commander added angrily.

"I’m a victim here too! You should be blaming the Beastman Army! By what right do you demand I take my own life? I am a Captain of the Celestial Wolf Army! What right do any of you have to demand my suicide?"

Qian Heng roared back, his face twisting into a ferocious snarl.

"You bastard! If it weren’t for your obstinance, if it weren’t for your desire for revenge against Young Master Ye, would this have happened? If you won’t take your own life, we’ll do it for you!"

"Execute Qian Heng!"

A group of commanders, no longer able to contain their rage, acted in unison. Drawing their Battle Swords, they charged at Qian Heng.

The murderous aura of their Battle Swords enveloped him, cutting off his escape.

Qian Heng’s face fell instantly.

"Get back!"

Just then, however, an indifferent voice boomed through the air.

BOOM!

A figure appeared in front of Qian Heng. With a single wave of his hand, a blast of cyan Spiritual Light swept out, knocking the Battle Swords from the hands of Yang Yan and the others.

PFFT!

PFFT!

At the same time, Yang Yan and the other commanders were thrown back, spitting mouthfuls of blood.

"You..."

Yang Yan and the others glared furiously at the newcomer.

It was Vice Marshal Huang.

Seeing this, Qian Heng was overjoyed. He knew his brother-in-law had arrived, which meant he was safe.

The Celestial Wolf Army was divided into the Soldier Camp and the Marshal’s Camp.

Ye Wushuang managed the Soldier Camp, not the Marshal’s Camp. The Marshal’s Camp was comprised of experts at the Half-Step Nirvana Realm and above.

Their purpose was to engage only when experts from the Beastman Empire appeared; they did not participate in ordinary skirmishes between armies.

These individuals held immense power, and Vice Marshal Huang was part of the Marshal’s Camp. With this connection, Qian Heng had nothing to fear.

"This is the heart of the Celestial Wolf Army’s territory. How dare you fight amongst yourselves? Consider this a small lesson. If it happens again, I will show no mercy."

Vice Marshal Huang reprimanded them coolly, his gaze sweeping over the commanders with a flicker of disdain.

"Lord Vice Marshal, we only want an explanation. Otherwise, the hearts of all the soldiers will grow cold."

When Yang Yan saw Vice Marshal Huang, he knew Qian Heng would not die today, but he and the others could not accept it.

"This was all the doing of the Beastman Army. What explanation is needed!"

Vice Marshal Huang said grimly.

He then turned to Ye Wushuang, who had remained silent until now. "Young Master Ye, I suggest we let this matter drop."

"Young Master!"

At this, Yang Yan and the others turned to Ye Wushuang, waiting for his decision.

Here, only Ye Wushuang could make the final call.

Ye Wushuang remained silent, his gaze fixed on Qian Heng, who was looking back at him with a cold smirk.

"Young Master, please, you must seek justice for the five thousand brothers who died for nothing!"

With a collective THUD, all the soldiers knelt on one knee before Ye Wushuang.

"You see? If they don’t get an explanation, it will break the hearts of these soldiers. Do you really think this matter can just be dropped?"

Ye Wushuang finally spoke, questioning Vice Marshal Huang.

"Then what kind of explanation do you want?"

Vice Marshal Huang’s expression darkened. Killing intent crept into his eyes as he stared at Ye Wushuang.

"It’s very simple. One choice: he dies."

Ye Wushuang stated dispassionately.

"And if I choose not to?"

Vice Marshal Huang asked, his voice dark.

"You don’t have to. In that case, you can die with him."
