Chapter 297: Chapter 297: The Birth of Jialin

The Divine Realm—The Dragon God Temple.

On this day, deep within the temple’s cultivation chamber, Jiang Bai sat with his eyes closed, resting his spirit and calmly sorting through the vast divine power flowing within his body.

Ever since quelling the Abyss and expanding the Divine Realm, the realm had entered a phase of steady development.

The God of Destruction, accompanied by several First-Rank Gods, was currently scouting the surrounding planes in search of suitable targets for further expansion.

The two God-Kings—of Kindness and Evil—had already begun the handover of their duties, preparing to make their exit.

The Asura God remained at his post within the Divine Realm Committee, attending to the daily administrative affairs.

Meanwhile, matters concerning the Douluo Continent had also reached a satisfactory conclusion.

And so, Jiang Bai finally found himself with a measure of leisure time.

He opened his eyes and raised his right hand.

The Nine-Colored Glazed Pagoda materialized in his palm.

This Martial Soul—which had accompanied him through countless epochs—had, under the blessing of the Dragon God’s Heart, now undergone a complete metamorphosis into a Super Divine Artifact; it was inextricably linked to his divine soul, their minds in perfect harmony.

Radiance flowed across the tower’s body, as nine distinct colors of light intertwined. Jiang Bai immersed his consciousness into the tower’s interior.

The world within the tower remained a scene of vibrant vitality.

At the center of the realm, the Eye of Ice and Fire Duality continued to churn with its twin springs of icy-blue and fiery-red water.

Beside it stood the Tree of Life—silent, yet magnificent—its branches and foliage lush and verdant, exuding a rich, potent aura of life.

The Dragon Beasts cultivated within their respective territories: some lay sprawled upon the ground, dozing; others circled gracefully through the skies; and still others darted through the dense canopy of the forest.

Everything was tranquil.

Yet, Jiang Bai’s gaze settled upon a specific spot—a meticulously prepared nest situated right beside the Eye of Ice and Fire Duality.

There, lying in quiet repose, rested a single dragon egg.

The egg of the Fire Dragon King.

Back in the Dragon Valley, that egg had nearly lost every shred of its vitality, its very essence teetering on the brink of collapse.

Jiang Bai had utilized the Gold of Life to stabilize its life force, then brought it into the tower, allowing it to slowly recover under the nourishing spiritual energies of the Eye of Ice and Fire Duality.

Now, a considerable amount of time had passed.

Accelerated by the unique temporal flow within the tower’s world, the spiritual energy this dragon egg had absorbed far surpassed anything it could have received in the outside world. Its vital essence had long since stabilized; faint golden patterns had even begun to emerge upon the eggshell.

Jiang Bai walked up to the dragon egg, crouched down, and reached out to gently caress the shell.

It felt warm to the touch, and beneath the shell, he could sense a faint yet steady heartbeat.

That heartbeat was far stronger than it had been years ago—like a small drum beating softly.

"It’s about time you came out, isn’t it?"

Jiang Bai murmured softly.

The dragon egg seemed to sense his presence and gave a gentle tremor.

The golden patterns on the shell suddenly flared to life, and a surge of scorching energy radiated outward from within the egg.

Jiang Bai’s eyes lit up.

He stepped back a few paces and watched in silence.

The dragon egg began to shake violently.

Countless hairline cracks appeared across the shell; golden light seeped through the fissures, growing ever brighter.

Crack!

A crisp snapping sound rang out.

A small shard of eggshell broke away from the top, revealing a small, wet head.

It was a baby dragon.

Its body was still tiny—no longer than an adult human’s arm.

It was covered from head to tail in fiery-gold scales, each one shimmering with a flame-like radiance.

A pair of golden dragon eyes gazed out at the world with curiosity—filled with a touch of bewilderment and a hint of innocence.

It struggled to clamber out of the shell, stumbled a few steps unsteadily, then plopped down onto the ground. Tilting its head back, it let out a high-pitched, infantile roar at Jiang Bai.

"Awooo—"

The sound was thin and soft, utterly devoid of the majesty typical of adult dragons; instead, it sounded more like a tiny puppy yapping.

Jiang Bai couldn’t help but smile.

He crouched down and reached out to cradle the little creature in his palms.

A gentle sweep of his divine power confirmed it instantly: drawing upon the pure lineage of the Fire Dragon King, this little one had firmly established itself in the Demigod realm the very moment it was born.

The baby dragon tilted its head, studying him for a moment, then wobbled over and rubbed its head against his hand.

Its scales felt warm and smooth to the touch—like jade warmed by the sunlight. "Little one, you’ve finally come out." Jiang Bai gently stroked its head.

"Your father is the Fire Dragon King; as for your mother... I do not know who she is. But since you were born here in my care, then from this day forward, you are family to me."

The little dragon seemed to understand his words; it let out another soft cry, then opened its mouth to yawn, revealing two rows of tiny milk teeth.

Jiang Bai smiled and cradled it gently in the palm of his hand.

Just then, four ethereal figures emerged from the depths of the world within the tower.

They were four illusory dragon souls.

One crimson, one ice-blue, one silver-white, and one dark gold.

They hovered in mid-air, gazing down at the little dragon resting in Jiang Bai’s palm.

The Fire Dragon King.

The Ice Dragon King.

The Time Dragon King.

The Space Dragon King.

The Fire Dragon King’s gaze settled upon the little dragon in Jiang Bai’s palm.

Within those crimson dragon eyes, a flicker of complex emotion passed—tenderness, relief, and, above all, a profound sense of release.

His bloodline had been preserved; his daughter, born with the cultivation of a Demigod, was the Dragon Clan’s undisputed new hope.

That was his child.

The continuation of his bloodline.

He lowered his draconic head and gently exhaled a breath of dragonfire.

Sensing the presence of its closest kin, the little dragon lifted its head and let out two soft cries toward the Fire Dragon King; the faint Demigod-level dragon might radiating from its tiny body instinctively gravitated toward him.

At the corners of the Fire Dragon King’s mouth, a faint, subtle upturn seemed to appear. The Ice Dragon King hovered nearby; glancing first at the little dragon and then at Jiang Bai, he spoke—his voice ethereal and illusory: "Dragon God, this child attained the rank of Demigod the moment she was born; her bloodline is pure and immaculate. She is the hope of our Dragon Clan. Please, treat her with kindness."

Jiang Bai nodded: "I will."

The Time Dragon King fell silent for a moment before speaking: "Dragon God, the remnant souls of us old fellows have been barely clinging to existence within your tower—it serves little purpose. Now that the Divine Realm has been established, we wish to go there to nourish our dragon souls with the essence of celestial spirits. Perhaps... there may even be a chance to reshape our dragon bodies."

The Space Dragon King added: "Even if we cannot reshape our bodies, simply being able to watch this child grow up would be enough."

Jiang Bai thought for a moment, then nodded: "Very well. I shall take you to the Divine Realm right now."

...

The Divine Realm—The Dragon God’s Temple.

Jiang Bai’s figure emerged from the cultivation chamber.

Cupped in the palm of his hand lay the little dragon—a creature of fiery gold. Curled into a tight ball, the little dragon was dozing with its eyes closed, its tail swaying gently and contentedly.

Behind him, four ethereal dragon souls hovered in mid-air, following in his footsteps.

Qian Renxue happened to be passing by from the Angel God’s Temple; spotting the little dragon in Jiang Bai’s palm, her eyes lit up.

"Ah Bai, is this...?"

"The Fire Dragon King’s child," Jiang Bai said, holding the little dragon out toward her. "She just hatched."

Although she did not know who the Fire Dragon King was, that did nothing to diminish Qian Renxue’s appreciation for the little dragon’s cuteness.

Qian Renxue reached out and gently stroked the little dragon’s head.

Stirred from its slumber by the touch, the little dragon blinked open its groggy eyes, cast a brief glance at Qian Renxue, and then promptly closed its eyes again to resume sleeping.

"How adorable," Qian Renxue couldn’t help but chuckle.

Jiang Bai handed the little dragon over to Qian Renxue to hold, then stepped out of the temple and onto the plaza situated before it.

The four dragon souls hovered above the plaza, gazing upward at the skies of the Divine Realm. Up there, the essence of celestial spirits surged and swirled, bathed in brilliant sunlight and dazzling divine radiance.

"This is the Divine Realm..." the Fire Dragon King murmured softly, his voice tinged with a hint of emotion. "How many years has it been... to finally return."

The Ice Dragon King was equally overcome with emotion: "Back when the Dragon God Domain collapsed, the few of us fought desperately to preserve a mere wisp of our souls. We thought that was the end of our existence. To think... that we would actually be able to return to the Divine Realm."

The Time Dragon King and the Space Dragon King remained silent, yet the light flickering within their draconic eyes betrayed a complex array of emotions.
