Chapter 294: Campaign in the Abyss World
Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Campaign in the Abyss World
"Sea God, where exactly do you think you’re going?"
The Old Sea God gave a dry chuckle.
"Dragon God, well... haven’t I retired? I’ve already passed on my divine seat; it’s time for me to go enjoy a peaceful retirement..."
Jiang Bai walked up to him, reached out, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Why are you running off? We’re about to go to war!"
The Old Sea God was taken aback. "War? What war?"
He opened his mouth to speak.
"Dragon God, isn’t that a bit—? I’m already a retired old man, after all..."
Jiang Bai laughed.
"What does that matter? You’re old but still vigorous!"
The Old Sea God protested, "But I’ve already passed my divine artifact on to Shui Bing’er!"
Jiang Bai replied, "No worries—you can just use your fists!"
The Old Sea God was left speechless.
He took a deep breath and came up with another excuse.
"Besides, I’m getting on in years; my physical stamina just can’t keep up anymore..."
Give it a rest with the act! Your stamina can’t keep up?
The lifespans of gods in the Divine Realm are inextricably linked to the Realm itself; as long as the Divine Realm endures, the gods are immortal.
Jiang Bai looked at him, a glint of mischief flashing in his eyes.
"Do you really not want to witness, with your own eyes, Bing’er elevating the Sea God’s divine seat into that of a God King?"
The Old Sea God fell silent.
A God King’s seat? That was a realm he had dreamed of reaching his entire life. Alas, despite striving for a lifetime, he had remained merely a First-Rank God.
If Shui Bing’er could truly succeed in promoting the Sea God’s divine seat to that of a God King, then he—as the former Sea God—would share in that glory.
"Alright then." He let out a sigh. "I’ll stay."
Jiang Bai smiled, then turned to look at Shui Bing’er. "Bing’er, welcome to the Divine Realm."
Shui Bing’er gazed back at him, her eyes brimming with tenderness. "Brother Bai, I’m here."
...
The following day.
At the Divine Realm Plaza.
Over a dozen figures had gathered there. Jiang Bai stood at the very front; behind him, the three God Kings—the Asura God, the God of Destruction, and the Goddess of Life—stood side by side.
Qian Renxue stood at Jiang Bai’s flank, clad in a white-gold divine robe, her golden-and-black interwoven angel wings gently fluttering.
Shui Bing’er stood beside Qian Renxue, clad in a sea-blue divine robe, her blue wings spread wide.
In her hands, she grasped the Trident of the Sea God.
The remaining dozen or so First-Rank Gods lined up on either side.
Each exuded a profound aura, their divine radiance shining brilliantly.
The Old Sea God stood at the very rear, his hands empty and his face wearing an expression of utter helplessness.
Jiang Bai raised his head, gazing out into the distant void.
"Let’s go."
The fourteen figures took flight simultaneously, transforming into fourteen streaks of flowing light that vanished into the skies of the Divine Realm.
...
Within the void, chaos reigned supreme.
The endless darkness was dotted with specks of starlight—distant planes, individual worlds scattered throughout the universe.
Yet, deep within that darkness, a colossal, blood-red world hung suspended in silence.
The Abyss.
Its sheer magnitude defied all conventional understanding; its main body conformed to no geometric rules, appearing instead as a gargantuan, grotesquely structured inverted cone.
At first glance, this structure bore a striking resemblance to a deformed honeycomb, magnified a hundred million times over.
The honeycomb’s layered structure was starkly defined—layer upon layer, stacked one atop the other. Each successive layer was larger in volume and more irregular in shape than the layer immediately beneath it, which tapered toward the cone’s apex.
Spreading outward from the perimeter of the honeycomb were countless tendrils, latching onto the surrounding void.
The tips of these tendrils were connected to various minor worlds, slowly but inexorably devouring their very essence.
Jiang Bai and his companions flew in over the Abyss, gazing down upon this repulsive world.
"This is the Abyss?" Qian Renxue’s brows furrowed slightly.
"Mm." Jiang Bai nodded. "Let’s go in."
The fourteen figures breached the planar barrier of the Abyss and entered its depths.
...
As far as the eye could see, the landscape was a truly repulsive sight. The sky was an eternal, dark violet—like congealed, tainted blood.
There was no sun, no stars—only a dead, silent expanse of dark red. The earth was blanketed in slippery, viscous black moss, exuding the stench of decay. Jagged, twisted black stones jutted from the ground like the colossal ribs of some monstrous beast.
Murky, pus-green fluids pooled in the depressions of the terrain, forming viscous puddles where bubbles churned and burst, releasing pungent, toxic fumes. The air was thick with the overpowering scents of blood and rot—a truly nauseating blend.
Qian Renxue gazed at the scene before her, her brows furrowed tightly as she spoke: "How utterly disgusting!"
Shui Bing’er, too, frowned; her power as the Sea God felt suppressed here, for the environment of the Abyss stood in stark contrast to that of the ocean.
Jiang Bai’s gaze swept across their surroundings; he spoke calmly: "Let the cleansing begin. There are no God-level powerhouses here, so feel free to boldly and ruthlessly exterminate this repulsive filth."
A dozen or so figures dispersed simultaneously.
The God of Shura was the first to strike.
The Shura Demon Sword was drawn from its sheath, and a dark-red blade-light swept outward, instantly cleaving through and slaying thousands of abyssal creatures in its path!
The creatures did not even have time to let out a scream before dissolving into pools of bloody liquid.
The God of Destruction raised his hand, and a pillar of dark-violet light shot forth from his palm.
In the wake of that light pillar, everything was annihilated—structures, creatures, and even the very ground beneath them—all reduced to absolute nothingness.
The Goddess of Life did not join the attack.
She stood at the rear, her hands clasped together, as a radiant emerald-green light emanated from her body, enveloping the assembled gods.
It was the Blessing of Life—a divine boon that enhanced both their divine power and their rate of recovery.
The remaining First-Rank Gods also unleashed their respective divine skills, systematically purging the abyssal creatures.
Divine lights of every hue flashed across the Abyss; with every flash, thousands upon thousands of abyssal creatures were reduced to dust and ash.
The old Sea God stood rooted to the spot, his hands empty, wearing an expression of utter helplessness.
He looked down at his own empty hands, then glanced at the First-Rank Gods who were currently displaying their awesome divine might, and let out a sigh.
Then, clenching his fists, he charged into the fray.
...
Several hours later. Jiang Bai and his companions finally succeeded in completely eradicating all the creatures inhabiting the 108 layers of the Abyss.
From the very first layer to the one hundred and eighth, every single level teemed with countless abyssal creatures, and each hosted a formidable Abyssal Emperor.
Yet, beneath the crushing might of the gods, these beings were reduced to mere ants—effortlessly obliterated.
When the Abyssal Emperor of the final layer—the one hundred and eighth—finally fell, the entire Abyssal Plane began to tremble violently.
Rifts tore open across the dark-purple skies; the earth began to crumble; the black moss withered away; and the pools of putrid green liquid dried up.
Those abyssal creatures—once so arrogant and invincible—dissolved into a swirling cloud of black specks of light, vanishing into the very air.
The Abyss was collapsing.
...
Meanwhile, deep within the Abyss...
A pair of eyes—a cold, spectral violet, burning with an intensity of absolute fury—pierced through the fabric of space, fixing a death-stare upon Jiang Bai and his group as they advanced toward the uppermost layer.
The owner of these eyes was none other than the absolute sovereign of the Abyssal Plane: the Abyssal Holy Monarch.
He sat upon a throne constructed entirely of bleached bone, clutching a dark-violet halberd in his hand.
The Heavenly Saint Rift Halberd—the Abyssal Plane’s very own Super Divine Artifact.
All around him, a dark-emerald tide of primordial Abyssal energy surged ceaselessly, resonating in perfect harmony with the entire plane itself.
He could sense it all: his subjects, his armies, his entire world—all were being systematically destroyed.
The 108 layers of the Abyss, the 108 Abyssal Emperors, the countless abyssal creatures—all had been utterly annihilated.
Not a single one remained.
Cold, furious thoughts echoed through the Holy Monarch’s consciousness.
"Trash... A whole pack of worthless trash!"
His voice was hoarse—a rasping sound that seemed to rise from the very depths of the Abyss like a mournful wail.
He was furious.
Furious at the incompetence of the Abyssal Emperors; furious at how utterly fragile and defenseless his abyssal creatures had proven to be.
Yet, fury aside, he knew there was no escape for him now.
Had only the three gods—Destruction, Life, and Asura—come to challenge him, he might have stood a chance of repelling them, bolstered by the power of his Super Divine Artifact and the inherent blessing of his home plane. Facing three opponents single-handedly—though he could not defeat them outright—he could at least hold his own for a time, and perhaps even seize an opportunity to turn the tables.
However, there was one additional factor: a Supreme God-King.
The sheer, colossal disparity in power caused the Saint Monarch—once his initial fury had subsided—to sink into despair.
A Supreme God-King—that is a title revered in every corner of the universe...
The sole existence within the realm—capable of crushing all else.
What could he possibly use to fight?
Was he supposed to fight with his bare head?
The Holy Monarch closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Then, he opened them again. In those deep violet eyes, there was no longer any anger—only utter coldness.
"Even if I must die, I won’t make it easy for you."
He tightened his grip on the Heavenly Saint Rifting Abyss Halberd and rose to his feet.
...
Jiang Bai and his companions arrived at the uppermost level of the Abyss.
This was the palace of the Abyssal Holy Monarch.
The entire palace was constructed from black bones, exuding a chilling, sinister aura. The steps leading up to the entrance were draped in a dark crimson carpet—resembling congealed blood.
In the center of the palace, a solitary figure stood in silence.
The Abyssal Holy Monarch.
He was tall and gaunt, his face pale, and his deep violet eyes devoid of all emotion. He wore a long robe of ink-green; intricate patterns were embroidered across the fabric, within which faint streams of light seemed to flow and swirl.
Clutched in his hand was the Heavenly Saint Rifting Abyss Halberd.
The Holy Monarch fixed his gaze upon Jiang Bai.
"Dragon God, I know I am no match for you. But..."
He tightened his grip on the Heavenly Saint Rifting Abyss Halberd. "I will not simply surrender without a fight."
"Come then! Let me see just how powerful a Supreme God-King truly is!"
No sooner had the words left his lips than he charged forward!
The Heavenly Saint Rifting Abyss Halberd transformed into a streak of dark violet light, thrusting straight toward Jiang Bai!
Jiang Bai did not move.
He merely raised his hand and gently clenched his fist.
Nine-colored divine radiance surged forth from his palm, coalescing into a massive dragon claw that instantly seized the Heavenly Saint Rifting Abyss Halberd!
"CRACK—!"
The Abyssal Holy Monarch’s pupils constricted violently!
Before he could even react, a pillar of nine-colored light had already pierced clean through his chest.
"You..."
He lowered his head, staring at the gaping hole in his chest, his eyes filled with utter bewilderment.
Then, his body slowly toppled over.
"THUD—!"
Dust billowed into the air.
The Abyssal Holy Monarch had fallen.
