Chapter 267: Chapter 267: The Vast Sea Universe Cover

Spirit City—The National Treasury.

The heavy, mechanically operated doors slowly closed behind them, sealing off the clamor of the outside world.

The interior of the treasury was dimly lit; only the luminous pearls embedded in the walls emitted a faint, ethereal glow, illuminating rows upon rows of neatly arranged shelves.

The shelves were piled high with treasures of every description—each item priceless, and all of them transported here from the national treasuries of the Heaven Dou Empire and the Star Luo Empire.

Shui Bing’er followed close behind Jiang Bai, her gaze sweeping over the treasures one by one, her eyes filled with sheer astonishment.

She hailed from the Shui Clan and was by no means unworldly, yet this was the very first time she had ever witnessed such a massive accumulation of treasures gathered in a single place.

"Sect Master, why have you brought me here?" she couldn’t help but ask.

Jiang Bai walked ahead, his pace unhurried and leisurely, as if he were merely strolling through his own private garden.

He did not turn around, offering only a faint smile as he replied, "I’ve come to retrieve a certain treasure."

"That item was once the Heaven Dou Empire’s ’National Guardian Treasure.’ After the Heaven Dou Empire was conquered, every treasure within its treasury was transported back here to Spirit City."

Shui Bing’er’s curiosity was piqued even further. A National Guardian Treasure? What on earth could it be?

They arrived before a specific shelf. Resting upon it was an exquisite brocade box; its body was carved from precious red sandalwood, and its surface was inlaid with silver threads that traced out intricate cloud patterns—clearly, at a single glance, it was no ordinary object.

Jiang Bai reached out and opened the brocade box.

Instantly, the entire treasury was enveloped in a brilliant, intense radiance.

The light was a pure, crystalline blue—resembling the deepest depths of the ocean, yet also the clearest expanse of the azure sky. Wherever this radiance touched, the surrounding treasures—which had previously appeared dim—seemed to be bathed in a shimmering blue halo.

Shui Bing’er instinctively narrowed her eyes, then focused her gaze intently upon the object.

Inside the brocade box lay a three-dimensional, triangular object, glowing with a translucent, crystalline blue throughout its entire form. It appeared to be carved entirely from sapphire; though it was no larger than the palm of a hand, it radiated an energy fluctuation so potent that it sent a shiver of awe through the soul. Amidst the crystalline blue light, a shimmering aura of treasure swirled, and strange energy fluctuations continuously emanated from within.

Rippling, wave-like patterns undulated across the surface of this blue triangular object. These patterns did not appear to be carved; rather, they seemed almost alive—circles of blue light flashed and pulsed, resembling the surging tides of the ocean.

"What... what kind of treasure is this?" Shui Bing’er’s eyes widened in astonishment.

The entire interior of the national treasury was bathed in a deep, ocean-like blue hue.

The gentle undulations of the blue light were so dazzlingly beautiful that Shui Bing’er found herself utterly mesmerized.

She felt as though her Ice Phoenix Martial Soul was faintly resonating with it.

Jiang Bai observed her look of utter shock, the corners of his lips curling upward ever so slightly.

"The Vast Sea Universe Cover." His voice was soft, yet it carried an indescribable depth of meaning. "In a sense, it is a Soul Tool; however, in truth, it could be called—the Heart of the Sea God."

"The Heart of the Sea God?!" Shui Bing’er gasped in astonishment.

Jiang Bai nodded. "Indeed. It serves as a key to unlocking the Sea God’s Legacy. Infuse your Soul Power into it, and see if you can trigger the Sea God’s Divine Trials."

He met Shui Bing’er’s gaze. "This is your destiny. Whether or not you can seize this opportunity is entirely up to you."

Shui Bing’er’s heart began to pound furiously.

The Sea God’s Divine Trials? Such a monumental opportunity—and the Sect Master was simply handing it over to her?

She parted her lips, intending to speak, yet found herself unable to utter a single word. A thousand thoughts swirled within her, ultimately condensing into just two words: "Sect Master..."

Jiang Bai waved his hand, gently cutting her off. "Do not overthink it. I am merely offering you a chance; whether or not you can gain the Sea God’s recognition depends entirely on your own fortune."

He handed the Vast Sea Universe Cover to Shui Bing’er.

Shui Bing’er took a deep breath and accepted the object with both hands.

It felt cool and substantial in her grasp; a refreshing surge of energy flowed from her palms into her body, creating a wondrous resonance with her Ice Phoenix Martial Soul. She felt her Martial Soul rejoicing—leaping with elation—as if it had finally encountered something it had yearned for for a very long time. "Infuse your soul power slowly; don’t rush, and be careful," Jiang Bai’s voice whispered in her ear.

Shui Bing’er nodded and closed her eyes.

She cautiously mobilized the soul power within her body, letting it flow like a trickling stream as she slowly infused it into the Vast Sea Universe Cover resting in her palm.

The moment that wisp of soul power entered the artifact, a brilliant blue light suddenly burst forth!

The blue triangular prism seemed to come alive; an ethereal, shimmering radiance swirled around it, growing ever stronger and more dazzling. Instinctively, Shui Bing’er increased the flow of her soul power.

As she continued to infuse her power, the Vast Sea Universe Cover slowly lifted from her palm, hovering in the air and rotating gently.

Then, a beam of blue light suddenly shot directly into the center of Shui Bing’er’s forehead!

Shui Bing’er felt her entire body tremble as a torrent of information instantly flooded into her mind. Her slender form slowly drifted upward alongside the Vast Sea Universe Cover, and she felt as though she had entered a wondrous, mystical realm.

It was an boundless, azure ocean.

The water was crystal clear, allowing one to see straight to the bottom; sunlight filtered down from the surface, forming shimmering golden pillars of light beneath the waves.

She felt as though she had been transported to another world entirely.

And deep within the depths of that ocean, a shadowy figure was watching her.

The figure was tall and majestic, shrouded in a divine blue radiance that obscured its features. Yet, the sacred and boundless aura it exuded made Shui Bing’er feel an irresistible urge to fall to her knees in reverence.

"The Ice Phoenix... Impressive."

A voice resonated within her mind—a voice that was both gentle and commanding, like the rhythmic crashing of waves against the shore, or the soft caress of a sea breeze sweeping across the water’s surface.

"Journey to Sea God Island, and undertake your Divine Trials."

The voice faded away.

Shui Bing’er’s consciousness gradually drifted into oblivion.

...

The Divine Realm—Sea God’s Palace.

The Sea God sat upon his throne; displayed within the shimmering water-screen before him was the image of Shui Bing’er, enveloped in that radiant blue light.

A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.

How did Jiang Bai know the proper method for activating the Vast Sea Universe Cover?

He had originally assumed that this treasure would remain dormant within the national treasury until the day it was discovered by a destined soul.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Bai had simply dug it out and handed it directly to Shui Bing’er.

However, this Shui Bing’er truly was an exceptional individual.

The Sea God’s gaze settled upon Shui Bing’er.

The Ice Phoenix Martial Soul—a top-tier Beast Martial Soul. Although it was not strictly of the Water attribute, ice and water were inseparable.

More importantly, she belonged to the Dragon God’s faction.

The Sea God’s fingers tapped lightly against the armrest as he weighed his options.

Whether to curry favor or to facilitate the succession of his divine seat, Shui Bing’er was an excellent choice.

He raised his hand and gave it a gentle wave.

A wisp of divine consciousness descended from the heavens, piercing through the barrier between the Divine Realm and the mortal world; it landed upon the Douluo Continent, settling directly into the center of Shui Bing’er’s brow.

...

When Shui Bing’er opened her eyes once more, it was already the next day.

Lying in bed, she gazed up at the ceiling of her room and instinctively stretched her limbs.

How wonderful! It feels as though every trace of fatigue has vanished from my body!

She sat up and began to recall everything that had transpired the previous day.

The four abilities of the Vast Sea Universe Cover—the Vast Sea Protective Shield, the Universe Soul-Stabilizing Shield, Vast Sea Raging Tides, and Universe Demon-Slaying—along with the methods for utilizing them, were all etched indelibly into her mind.

And then there was the God who had appeared at the very end: the Sea God. He had instructed her to journey to the legendary Sea God Island to formally commence her Divine Trials.

She had truly been chosen by a god!

Good heavens! It’s all just too incredible!

Shui Bing’er covered her face with her hands, feeling her heart pound at a wildly frantic pace.

The Sect Master had bestowed upon her such a monumental opportunity; how could she ever hope to repay him?

Wait—the Sect Master?

Wasn’t I just in the national treasury? How did I end up back in my room?

She looked around the room, confirming that she was indeed in her own quarters within the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
