Douluo: Rise as the Immortal

Chapter 215: 215.Side Story 17 – Eternal Ages
In the original flow of history, Bai Xu suddenly awoke as if he had stepped into the perspective of an observer, breaking free from the confines of history and appearing before the two women.
"Don’t be alarmed. This is my divine ability, meant to ensure the world I experience feels more real," Bai Xu explained.
Nana stared at the sacred figure before her, unable to speak—or perhaps she simply didn’t know how to face someone who might as well have stepped out of myth.
Gu Yuena, however, showed no surprise. "We’ve seen enough. It’s time to leave."
This was a divine ability, not his true form.
There was nothing more to say.
"Remember to pass on a message for me—there’s a grand spectacle to witness."
Nana knew that this so-called "grand spectacle" referred to the Tang family and the Great Divine Realm currently scheming behind the scenes.
"Any one of the three of you could easily resolve this with a single thought. Why drag it out until now? And even bring her along..." The divine projection of Bai Xu was puzzled. As a guardian of the past, his duty was to preserve history, not dwell on complexities.
"Just a bunch of clowns. No need for my true self to intervene."
Hearing this, Nana trembled.
The divine projection of Bai Xu radiated an endless aura of opportunity, as if he could deduce the present from history and influence the world through it. A chilling intent instantly swept through the ancient epochs, carrying boundless killing intent, undisguised and unrelenting.
Gu Yuena said nothing, taking Nana away with her.
---
Nana returned to the Great Divine Realm, back to the world of gods. No longer confused, she watched everything unfold before her eyes, neither willing nor able to stop it.
But her son, Xuanyu, would soon face the final outcome.
So be it. Let it all end.
Lan Xuanyu began inheriting the Dragon God’s divine throne. Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena, in turn, sacrificed their bloodlines. Now, the two of them were... utterly weakened. Yet, at this very moment, Tang San produced the divine cores he had long prepared—Life and Destruction.
He spoke: "My children, you have endured so much suffering over the years, standing firm with unwavering resolve to protect Douluo Continent against forces that threatened the planet. Step by step, you have inherited the Dragon God’s power and borne the agony it brought. You have been tempered through countless trials. Today, on behalf of the Divine Realm, I shall strip you of the Dragon God’s legacy and bestow upon you the divine thrones of the gods, allowing you to join the Divine Realm as true members. Do you accept?"
"I accept." Tang Wulin bowed respectfully to his father without hesitation.
Tang San then granted him the Destruction God’s throne, elevating him to the rank of Destruction God King.
Next, Tang San turned to Nana. "Gu Yuena, you inherited the Silver Dragon King’s bloodline yet always held kindness in your heart. Though you fought against humanity for the survival of the soul beasts, you ultimately followed the path of benevolence and secured a living space for the soul beast lineage. For ten thousand years, you have contributed greatly to the peaceful coexistence of humans and soul beasts in the Douluo Federation. Even now, after millennia, you still fight for humanity. I grant you the inheritance of the Life God. Do you accept?"
To Nana, these words now sounded unbearably ironic—and perhaps they were true.
She had always fought for humanity, even after ten thousand years. The only time she had opposed them was for the survival of the soul beasts, ultimately trading her own life and Tang Wulin’s to secure their future.
Nana shook her head. "I refuse."
She turned to leave without bowing to Tang San. Now, she only wanted to quietly await the final outcome.
"Gu Yuena! Don’t be stubborn!" Tang Wulin’s shout halted her steps, freezing her in place. "Why? You promised me we’d live well together once everything was over."
Nana looked at Tang Wulin, his face full of expectation. The God King’s throne was within his grasp, yet she had given it up so decisively. He thought she was still resentful over the matter of the spiritual imprint, but he couldn’t bring himself to question his father.
This time, Tang San showed no reaction, merely watching coldly.
"Wulin... I’m tired. In the next life—no, let’s not meet again in the next life." With that, Nana glanced at Tang San, her meaning clear. She lacked the strength—and the choice—to oppose the ruler of the Divine Realm. Even among the twelve God Kings of the Great Divine Realm, Tang San stood as their unspoken leader.
Her son, Xuanyu, revered his grandfather deeply, filled with admiration.
Yet she could not blend in at all.
When she thought about it, she had nowhere left to go.
Once, the Star Dou Great Forest could have been called her home—her "family," like the other Gu Yuena’s. But now, the Spirit Planet had been ceded as part of reparations, absorbed into another major realm. The Federation’s spies among the spirits and soul beasts had gone silent, never reporting back.
"Xiu Xiu, does the Star Dou Great Forest still exist?" Nana asked her only disciple.
"It does. Before Spirit Planet was taken, the Federation urgently relocated its resources to another planet. The soul beasts still live there. You needn’t worry." Bai Xiuxiu was equally puzzled, unable to understand why Nana resisted the Divine Realm so fiercely.
The remnant soul of the Abyss Sage King within her had long been purged—before the eyes of the God Kings, he had nowhere to hide.
"Take me back."
"Gu Yuena! Are you really leaving?" Tang Wulin demanded.
"My bloodline is gone. I’m useless in battle now. Staying here would only be a burden. May your fortunes prevail."
She had learned that phrase from a book in the Forbidden Land of Ten Thousand Dragons long ago.
"Xiu Xiu, let’s go."
"Alright."
With Bai Xiuxiu’s help, Nana returned to the Star Dou Great Forest, arriving once more at the Lake of Life.
Revisiting this place, it was her first time here since awakening ten thousand years ago. Now, the Lake of Life spanned only a thousand meters—far smaller than Shrek Academy’s Sea God Lake, its life force incomparably weaker.
This place had fallen into ruin.
She did not linger, instead walking toward the forest’s edge. Along the way, she saw many soul beasts. Upon noticing her as a human, they avoided her rather than attack.
They had seen this too many times before.
This time was no exception.
Bai Xiuxiu accompanied her, watching as her teacher wandered alone, sensing the turmoil in her heart. She didn’t understand—because for soul beasts, this was the best outcome possible.
Boom!
In an instant, clear skies turned stormy.
Dark clouds gathered, thunder rolling as if a soul beast was undergoing a heavenly tribulation.
Nana’s heart leapt. "Xiu Xiu, take me there!"
This seemed to be the only sign of life left in the desolate Star Dou Great Forest.
Boom!
The lightning struck. By the time Nana arrived, the life force was nearly gone—the fierce beast had failed to withstand the tribulation.
When she saw its appearance, her pupils constricted. "Bear Lord!"
The Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear’s fur had dulled, ready to embrace the end—until a familiar voice made it open its eyes. Its gaze briefly brightened. "Sovereign?!"
But the light quickly faded.
"You’ve returned."
"Are—are you alright?" Nana panicked, wanting to help but powerless. Her bloodline was gone, her divine energy exhausted.
"Failed the 600,000-year tribulation. I’m fading." Bear Lord noticed the human beside Nana. Even in death, its voice was fierce: "Human, get out of the Star Dou Great Forest!"
It didn’t realize Nana was now human too.
And the cruel irony—both "humans" before it had once been soul beasts.
Bai Xiuxiu was angered by Bear Lord’s words but held back. If not for Nana’s presence, she would have taught the dying beast a lesson.
"Any last words? Do you have descendants?"
Bear Lord weakly shook its head. "The damned are all dead—became spirit souls or fell to tribulations. I’ve lasted longer than most."
"Di Tian lives. He became Xuanyu’s spirit soul. Jade Emperor and Purple Emperor too. Why... didn’t you?"
"Sovereign... not all soul beasts wish to coexist with humans."
Slowly, the beast’s voice grew choked, as if wanting to rebuke its former ruler: "Sovereign, you shouldn’t have done it! There was no need to perish with that man. After you left... the soul beasts lost all voice. Even Di Tian—just a Golden-Eyed Black Dragon who never passed the 900,000-year tribulation. Those humans had long reached godhood!"
Cough—
Bear Lord spat blood, its body beginning to fracture. It was severing its own life force, destroying the parts that would have become soul bones.
Nana’s eyes reddened, helpless before its injuries. "My fault. I shouldn’t have abandoned you. I’m sorry..."
Suddenly, Bear Lord raised its Darkgolden Terrorclaw, aiming to strike Nana—to drag her down in death.
But Bai Xiuxiu blocked the blow, kicking Bear Lord back a hundred meters.
"Dare to attack?!"
Embedded in a cliff, Bear Lord glared coldly at Nana. "You’re not the Sovereign. You’re human—an imposter!"
Nana said nothing, tears streaming down her face, trembling as if she could barely stand.
Bear Lord seemed to realize the truth, its voice breaking. "Why... why did it have to be humans...?"
"Bear Lord..." Nana had no words, standing silently as if awaiting judgment.
"Fine. With a ruler like this, soul beasts were doomed anyway."
With that, Bear Lord’s body dissipated, its claws turning to ash rather than soul bones.
"I... I..." Nana’s tears fell uncontrollably. Collapsing to the ground, she seemed to lose all reason, screaming at herself: "Was I wrong?!"
At Bai Xiuxiu: "Was I wrong?!"
At the forest: "Was I wrong?!"
"No, Teacher. You weren’t wrong. You saved the soul beasts, secured them a place to live. You did nothing wrong!" Bai Xiuxiu tried to console her.
But Nana whispered: "I was wrong."
At that moment, the Dragon God’s light shone across time, its nine-colored radiance enveloping the Great Divine Realm and reaching even here. The Dragon God had returned—the soul beasts would rise again!
Roar!
The forest erupted with bestial cries, kneeling in reverence.
Bai Xiuxiu gasped, wanting to see Xuanyu.
"Go. I’ll be fine." Nana seemed to regain composure.
Bai Xiuxiu left, leaving Nana alone.
Amidst the kneeling beasts, their cries filling the air, she muttered:
"The Dragon God has returned. The beasts shall rise. But this Dragon God is no longer the beasts’—he belongs to the Divine Realm. Hah... Tang San, what a scheme. It was all for this—the Dragon God’s throne! Now even the mightiest god belongs to the Tang family!" Nana laughed bitterly, as if pouring all her strength into it.
She sat where Bear Lord had died, waiting for her own end.
Dragon God Reborn
"Cosmic Law! I am its enforcer!"
Everything swirled in Lan Xuanyu’s mind. His divine sense had never been clearer, his power never greater.
He heard the calls—of the dragons, from across countless worlds. His people rejoiced at his return. The dragons would have a home again, for their king had come back.
Bear Lord had died on the eve of the Dragon God’s rebirth—just before dawn.
But was it truly dawn?
"Father! Grandfather! I sense it—the taboo within the Cosmic Law. It’s a person!"
Tang San asked, "How do you feel now?"
"Stronger than ever."
"Then let us face this enemy together."
"Family stands together."
Beyond the Great Divine Realm, a cosmic fleet from another Douluo Federation approached—not to fight, but to witness history.
Gu Yuena, Gu Yue, and Na’er stood at the forefront, solemnly watching.
Lan Xuanyu knew they were not the final challenge. His first task was to eliminate the taboo in the Cosmic Law.
Gathering all his strength, he shouted:
"Bai—Xu!"
For the first time, an outsider had spoken Bai Xu’s true name.
Crack—
A faint splitting sound echoed through the cosmos, reverberating in everyone’s minds.
What had broken?
Boom!
The void shattered, revealing a pure white expanse—where countless figures from other universes turned to gaze at Douluo’s world.
Some stood above eternity, looking back through time. Others paused mid-battle to observe.
Lan Xuanyu had stirred a hornet’s nest. More and more eyes turned, seeking the one who had called their names.
Most striking were three towering immortal mountains across countless worlds, each with a figure standing atop them—as if waiting. Before them, another Bai Xu had returned, finding his path.
Hearing the call, all three turned.
Instantly, Lan Xuanyu felt his spirit and body separate, lost in chaos.
"My karma. My apologies for disturbing you all."
With those words, peace returned. The cosmos mended—save for one additional figure: a peerless man in white.
"I’ve been gone for years. Why do you summon me with killing intent?" Bai Xu seemed amused, a playfulness the three women noticed.
None in the Great Divine Realm dared answer. Even Tang San was drenched in sweat, the pressure overwhelming.
"Elder... we meant no offense."
In the end, Tang San had to speak.
"You’re irrelevant. But this one must pay the price."
Bai Xu seemed intent on killing the one who had dared summon him. Where was the Cosmic Law now? Its enforcer was terrified.
"Die."
The word was law. Lan Xuanyu’s body began dissolving into the wind.
The newly born Dragon God died so absurdly before them all—without resistance.
What a farce.
Some went mad, rushing forward for revenge. The beasts raged, seeking to avenge their god.
"Good. If you wanted me dead from the start, why hide it?"
Bai Xu laughed. With a wave, endless chaotic hands materialized, annihilating worlds—not the planets, but every being that bore him ill will.
He seemed to focus on Tang San, destroying his body but sealing his soul into a blood-forged statue, kneeling eternally on Douluo Continent—condemned to endless torment, with no next life.
Like flies, lives fell. The rising races of beasts and humans were halved in an instant.
The visitor was capricious, a destroyer. Even the Divine Realm was not spared.
The other Douluo Federation bowed as Bai Xu glanced their way: "Hail Immortal Lord of the Five Elements’ Marvelous Art!"
"It’s been a while. Consider this planet a gift. I have matters to attend to."
Bai Xu turned to the three women. "Contact me if needed."
As he prepared to leave, Gu Yuena called out: "Wait!"
"What is it?" Bai Xu asked.
Without suspicion, he followed them to the Star Dou Great Forest—to Nana, now human.
Bai Xu felt no sympathy for her.
"Bai Xu... I beg you. Can you revive Douluo’s soul beasts? I’ll pay any price."
Nana had reached out to Gu Yuena for help. This scene had been anticipated—Bai Xu’s power defied reason. The Divine Realm’s fall was inevitable.
"Curious. You avoided destruction—you bear me no hatred? I killed your entire family." Bai Xu approached, studying her pallid face.
A single glance showed him the past, the reasons.
"With my last breath, I beg you—revive Douluo’s beasts. Let them join the other Federation. As the Silver Dragon King, I wish to leave them hope. Please!"
Nana had never been so desperate, so humbled.
But her life was not enough to buy their revival.
Bai Xu glanced at the three women. They pitied Nana.
"Fine. Any last words?"
"None. This... is all I can do. May the beasts start anew—my atonement."
Nana no longer wished to live. She only hoped her next life would be simpler, free of these convoluted, absurd tragedies.
They vanished. On the cliff, Bear Lord revived, having passed its tribulation. Beasts began returning.
Gu Yuena glared at Bai Xu. "You care nothing for timelines without you?"
"Wrong. You’re projecting. Do you pity her?"
Gu Yuena’s gaze darkened. She did—because without Bai Xu, this would have been her fate.
She understood too well.
"Enough. It’s over. Since I’m back, let’s visit the Douluo Federation."
Di Tian approached, freed from the Dragon God’s bloodline. The Federation’s soul beasts had evolved—thanks to Gu Yuena.
"Greetings, my lord."
"No need for formalities. Let’s go."
Bai Xu left with the three women and his two daughters, heading for Douluo—now a minor world.
