Although Ah Jiu and his party arrived at Wozi Village after nightfall, the commotion it caused was not small. Early the next morning, people were peeking around the alleys near the Old Zhou family residence. Seeing the cold guards stationed everywhere, they dared not approach. Some even shut their doors tightly to avoid bringing trouble upon themselves.

At the same time, they were all speculating about who these people might be, looking like they were not to be trifled with.

For the health of Wufu and Little Bun, Ah Jiu wanted to return to Lan City as soon as possible. Lan City had already raised the Beiyan battle flag, and there, both the overall environment and security could be more assured.

The subordinates found two or three carriages and waited for the Zhou family to pack up. After breakfast, Zhou Xueli went to the village head to say they were going to visit relatives, and the group left under the guards’ protection.

Old Lady Zhou nervously slid the prayer beads in her hand. After all, it was her first time leaving the place she had lived for most of her life, heading to an unknown town, the road ahead uncertain.

They picked up Yongyong at the town, locked up the shop, and hurried towards Lan City.

Right after they left, the local stationed soldiers received word and rushed to Wozi Village but found it empty. They quickly reported to their superiors and gave chase.

Another fierce battle.

One ambush after another, Ah Jiu and the others were accustomed to it, but the Zhou Xueli family turned pale, trembling, finally understanding what it meant to live by the blade, realizing they and their adversaries belonged to two different worlds.

Three days later, the group entered Lan City, directly moving into a wealthy merchant’s estate, Orchid Garden, with five courtyards, pavilions and towers, flowing streams and artificial hills, designed exquisitely.

Once Wufu was settled, Ah Jiu personally organized the estate’s guards, both in the open and hidden, especially around Wufu’s courtyard, guarded like a fortress.

"Xiao Bai is estimated to arrive tomorrow, should I first invite a city doctor to check your pulse?" Ah Jiu said to Wufu.

Wufu replied, "No need to check, I know I need rest."

"You can’t be capricious," Ah Jiu’s eyes showed concern.

Wufu saw his unease and nodded.

"Princess Consort."

A weak voice came from the door, Wufu looked over, it was Jadeite.

During the battle, Purple Jade stayed at the Beiyan Royal Mansion to manage the main base, and only Jadeite, Mo Lan, and Lu Xiaodie accompanied the army.

Mo Lan was gone, Jadeite severely injured, only Lu Xiaodie, who was not skilled in Kung Fu, remained in the camp, now managing the estate’s affairs and personally overseeing the kitchen to prepare Wufu’s meals.

"Jadeite." Seeing Jadeite, Wufu also became a bit emotional.

Jadeite was supported by two little maids as she entered, kneeling with a thud in front of Wufu, crying, "Princess Consort, Jadeite was incompetent, failed to protect you."

"It’s good that everyone is alive." Wufu choked up, thinking of Mo Lan.

Jadeite understood her meaning, also recalling that woman, tears streaming down.

"Princess Consort mustn’t cry," Ah Jiu said, "If you still have the energy, check the Princess Consort’s pulse."

"Let another doctor come," Wufu noticed Jadeite was unwell, her face still pale, reportedly injured in the lungs, nearly didn’t make it.

Jadeite said, "This maid can manage." She then told the two maids, "Help me over."

She came before Wufu, took a deep breath, placed her fingers on Wufu’s wrist to delicately take her pulse, alternating her hands, her expression serious, fingers gently trembling.

Ah Jiu saw this, his heart sinking.
