Chapter 943: Chapter 937: My Bottom Line (Part 4)
"Mabel Hughes, you can ride the wave of popularity, but you can’t do it at the expense of others. Your team is troubling Claudia, don’t think I don’t know. I haven’t mentioned it because you’re my employee now, and I have an obligation to protect you, but I’ll also, in my own way, let you know what you can and can’t do."
Hearing this, Mabel was stunned.
She actually knows everything.
"Besides, you haven’t experienced what Claudia has suffered at all. I can understand that you want to maintain your popularity, but I won’t forgive you for hurting my friend."
Mabel had just wanted to talk to her about Julian Ford, but she started off on the wrong foot, resulting in her feeling like a sinner, restless and uneasy.
Tiana Thorne had no intention of talking more about what had happened before, she raised an eyebrow lightly: "Go ahead, what did you want to talk to me about?"
She was taken aback, not expecting Tiana to so casually brush past what she’d done, but even so, she knew Tiana didn’t like her.
"I want to ask about your brother."
Tiana shrugged, with a sigh: "I have several brothers, I don’t know which one you’re talking about?"
Mabel’s breath caught, suddenly feeling that there would always be a girl in this world who is so lucky, with an incomparable family background, so many brothers who adore her, and even a fiancé that everyone envies.
Unfortunately, she would never be so fortunate.
With a slightly dim gaze, she spoke: "Mr. Julian Ford."
"What do you want to ask about him?"
Mabel asked: "Has he ever been in love?"
Tiana replied: "I don’t interfere in my brother’s personal life, and I don’t know if he’s been in love, or if he is currently in love."
Upon hearing this, Mabel was caught up in her last words.
Currently in love?
It shouldn’t be, otherwise, how could his girlfriend tolerate him being better to Tiana than to her?
After pondering for a moment, she said seriously: "I really like your brother, I’d like to pursue him, can you tell me what he likes and dislikes?"
Tiana laughed lightly, not expecting Mabel to be so direct about this with her.
"Miss Hughes, are you asking me to help you pursue my brother?"
Mabel shook her head: "I just want to understand him a little more."
Tiana’s charming foxy eyes darted lightly, curling her lips and raising an eyebrow: "Why should I help you?"
Mabel’s gaze was sincere: "I know, you probably won’t help me, but I wanted you to know that I like him. Maybe talking with you, I’ll get to know whether I have a chance or not. If not, I’d better give up early, for both his and my sake, isn’t that right?"
Admittedly, she made a good point.
Tiana crossed her legs, playing with her fingers: "Okay, I can tell you what my brother likes and dislikes, whether or not you can win him over is up to you."
Mabel was startled, not expecting her to relent so easily, and asked with some confusion: "Don’t you dislike me?"
Tiana lightly raised an eyebrow: "I also said I wouldn’t interfere in my brother’s personal life. I’m his sister, not someone who can dictate his future, so pursuing him is your right, however..."
After saying that, she smiled lightly, with a slightly cold tone: "Although I can’t interfere with him, my brother likes everything I like and dislikes everyone I dislike. Mabel, are you sure you still want to continue?"
Upon hearing this, Mabel felt like her heart was blocked with a lump, unable to move up or down, very uncomfortable.
Tiana looked at her stunned expression and said calmly: "You can give it a try. If you win him over, I’ll concede defeat."
Knowing that her brother could never let a woman like Mabel become her sister-in-law, what did it matter to reveal her brother’s preferences?
It would only make her more clearly understand that pursuing her brother is like being separated by a mountain.
One must learn to retreat in the face of difficulties.
Mabel stood up, biting her lip, forcibly restraining her unhappy emotions: "Thank you, I’ll be leaving now."
"Take care."
Afterwards, Mabel quickly left, her once gentle and beautiful back now appeared quite disheveled.
Tiana withdrew her gaze.
She hoped that after this conversation, Mabel would know her own worth, and abandon those unrealistic ideas as early as she said she would.
...
Evening.
Tiana Thorne and May Sloane returned to the old Ford family residence together.
At home were only Rouge Jarvis and Sebastian Ford.
Maxim Ford and Aiden Shaw had gone on a business trip to the same place.
After dinner, everyone sat in the living room watching a variety show.
"Sunday" was currently being broadcast.
On the TV, Sue Rooney was cooking, looking very skillful, then she smiled sweetly at Joel Jones next to her, handing him a cookie she had personally baked: "Here, try it."
Joel took the cookie, and eating it, he looked very happy: "The taste is very nice."
People nearby cheered: "Wow, a sweet cookie."
"I remember it was burnt, doesn’t it taste bitter?"
"A cookie from Sue, even burnt is sweet."
Sue and Joel laughed.
Then, Sue tossed a carrot piece towards the others: "Eat the carrot, see if it’s sweet."
Everyone joined in on the playfulness.
Rouge Jarvis asked: "Are Sue and Joel a couple?"
Tiana responded: "No, they’re not."
Sebastian found this type of variety show quite boring, he stood up, his eyes filled with disdain: "They overact so obviously, no wonder the ratings aren’t very high."
Tiana became interested, tilting her head to look at him: "Fifth brother, from what you’re saying, don’t you feel they seem sweet?"
"Overacted."
Tiana picked up some grapes, then laughed: "Come, sit down, fifth brother, let’s chat."
Sebastian turned off the television, sat down beside her, and brought over a small trash bin, making it convenient for her to spit grape seeds.
Only then did Tiana say: "I’m going on this show, do you have any good advice? I’m planning to steal Sue’s spotlight."
Rouge Jarvis also looked over, frowning slightly: "What did she do to you?"
She knew her daughter was kind-hearted and wouldn’t randomly target someone.
Tiana’s eyes grew a bit colder: "She bullied Keira, the girl we talked about at the dinner table before, and she has some photos of Keira in her hands."
It was only then that the always lazy Sebastian became interested: "Do you need me to hack into all her photos?"
"Not for now, I have a better plan."
Sebastian: "Not for now means you’ll need it later?"
"Yes."
"Alright, just let me know anytime."
Tiana laughed: "Brother, are you a workaholic?"
He merely laughed, looking handsome and charming.
Tiana asked again: "Back to the previous topic, do you have any good advice?"
