Chapter 396: Chapter 396

Knock, knock, knock.

A rhythmic tapping sounded against the side window of the RV. Suzy pulled back the small curtain and looked out, meeting a familiar face.

It was Jenny.

Suzy quickly rolled down the window and asked, "What brings you here?"

"The queue isn’t moving at all, and I was bored waiting, so I thought I’d come check on you," Jenny said casually.

Suzy raised an eyebrow. This girl was sharp as a tack; there was no way she had come over just out of the goodness of her heart.

Sure enough, Jenny was already craning her neck to peer inside the vehicle.

However, thanks to the RV system’s camouflage feature, all she could see from her perspective was a dilapidated, worn-down interior. To her eyes, the inside looked just as beat-up and trashed as the exterior.

"What are you looking at?" Suzy asked.

"Nothing." Jenny gave a short laugh and withdrew her gaze.

Suzy stared at her in silence, waiting for her to come clean. As expected, Jenny couldn’t hold out for long and leaned in closer toward Suzy.

"Those chocolate cookies... do you have any more?" Jenny blinked innocently.

"Why?" Suzy didn’t answer directly, eyeing her with amusement.

"I’m not looking for a handout. I’ll trade you for it."

Curious, Suzy asked, "What do you have to trade?"

Jenny lowered her voice, dropping her words one by one: "I’ll trade you information about that man."

Then, she mouthed a single syllable: "Bennet."

Suzy’s expression shifted slightly. This girl really is clever.

"Is your info legit? What kind of information do you have?" Suzy pressed, keeping her eyes fixed on the girl’s face to see if she was lying.

Jenny nodded forcefully. "100% legit. I value honesty in business! If it turns out to be false, you can come looking for me anytime."

"I just arrived at P City Base and don’t know my way around. If you decide to run off, where am I supposed to find you?" Suzy said with a smirk.

Jenny’s face immediately fell. "Do you want this info or not? If you don’t, I’m leaving."

"What info is it? At least tell me first, and I’ll consider it," Suzy replied calmly, refusing to be rushed.

Jenny threw her a surprised look before finally spilling it: "I know where that man is right now."

Suzy froze, her heart instantly skipping a beat.

Jenny knows Adam’s whereabouts!

"Why didn’t you mention that earlier?"

Jenny answered candidly, "I didn’t know earlier! I went back and asked my friends, and they told me."

Suzy’s lips twitched slightly.

"Where is he? Are you sure this information is accurate?"

"100% guaranteed. My friends wouldn’t lie to me, and besides, this isn’t even a secret. But even if you get inside the base, trying to dig it up on your own would be a huge hassle. You’re better off getting it straight from me."

"Fine, you make a fair point," Suzy agreed inwardly, though she kept a straight face.

Jenny was telling the truth. Even after entering P City Base, finding Adam would require poking around and asking questions.

If she accidentally approached one of Rina’s lackeys, word of a stranger asking about her fiancé would get straight back to Rina.

If Rina found out an unfamiliar woman was digging into her fiancé’s whereabouts, there was no telling what she might do. She could easily hide Adam away, making it infinitely harder for Suzy to ever track him down.

Suzy didn’t want to expose herself to Rina this early in the game.

Once exposed, her freedom to maneuver would be severely restricted, and Rina would be put on high alert—an outcome entirely stacked against her.

Regardless of Adam’s current situation, she had to prepare for every scenario and make sure both paths remained viable.

"How much are you charging?" Suzy asked.

A smile broke out across Jenny’s face, and she held up a single finger.

"One."

"One pack of cookies?" Suzy asked.

Jenny nodded vigorously. "My price is already super fair! Even if you asked around inside the city, you wouldn’t necessarily get a bargain like this."

As she spoke, her voice began to lose its confidence.

Under Suzy’s unblinking stare, she instinctively averted her gaze and looked down at the floorboards.

Suzy knew she was mostly bluffing—asking around inside the city wouldn’t cost anywhere near that much. However, considering Jenny’s identity and everything she had shared earlier, Suzy had a feeling this girl might prove useful down the line.

Besides, she wasn’t short on chocolate; she had plenty stored away in her dimension space.

Exchanging a single pack of chocolate cookies for Adam’s current location—and securing Jenny as a potential ally—felt well worth the trade.

Weighing her options, Suzy pulled a box of chocolate cookies from her space and handed it to Jenny, not forgetting to add a sharp warning: "Here you go, but don’t play me for a fool. If I find out you lied, I won’t let you off easy."

Jenny snatched the chocolate, shoved it into her pocket, and grunted softly before saying earnestly, "Relax! Am I really that kind of person? I wouldn’t lie to you. If I’m lying, I’m a filthy whore."

"Fine, remember what you just said," Suzy replied. "Now out with it—where is he?"

"That man went out on a mission. He won’t be back for another day or two—maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after." Pausing for a moment, Jenny added, "The mission he took is pretty dangerous."

A cold night wind blew past Suzy’s face, carrying with it the raw, metallic scent of damp earth.

"Do you know where his mission took him?" Suzy asked.

Jenny shook her head. "No idea."

Suzy frowned. "Didn’t you say you knew where he was?"

Jenny looked momentarily embarrassed, but quickly came up with an excuse: "Missions like that are usually kept classified, so they don’t give out the exact location to outsiders—only the team taking the mission knows. My friends only confirmed he was out on a mission because they saw him heading out with his fleet."

Suzy nodded thoughtfully, letting the point slide.

Jenny continued, "He should be back tomorrow or the day after. Once a team finishes a mission, they have to turn it in at the Mission Hall. You can try your luck over there. You should have time over the next couple of days, right?"

"I suppose so," Suzy murmured to herself.
