Chapter 536: Living in a Small Villa and a Bashful Jun Qingmeng

“Huh?! This smells pretty good. About half as good as I could do,” the tall Nan Zheng said, somewhat surprised.

“Hurry up and try it.”

The few of them didn’t touch the main dishes. Instead, they first used their chopsticks to scoop up some of the fluffy white rice and put it in their mouths.

The moment the rice entered their mouths, it was as if they were chewing on soft, bouncy pearls. A gentle bite released a sweet, sticky fragrance!

The three of them were stunned.

“What kind of rice is this? The texture is… why is it so addictive?!”

“Holy crap! Damn, this owner is something else! Isn’t this wild bluefin tuna? I’ll never forget this taste as long as I live!” Jiang Wei was dumbfounded after one bite of the tuna.

‘What the hell is going on?’

The price of bluefin tuna in the country was astronomical. Forget getting a plate like this for just over a thousand; you couldn’t find it even if you offered over ten thousand!!

Beside them, Liu Youfu’s eyes went wide with shock as he took a bite of the tender and fragrant beef.

“The beef is rich but not greasy, and it melts in your mouth. The lean parts have distinct fibers, and if you savor it, there’s even a unique aroma…!!”

Their minds went blank, and their scalps tingled.

‘Are these really ingredients that a shabby little shop in a third-tier city could possibly afford to use?’

‘No way!’

“Wait, don’t eat yet! I have to post this on my Moments!” Jiang Wei stopped the other two and whipped out his phone, snapping a flurry of pictures.

“I’m taking some too. I’ve gotta go back and show these off.”

“If any of those country bumpkins laugh at me now, I’ll die of satisfaction, hahaha.”

7:15 in the evening.

Jiang Liu closed up for the day.

He glanced at the [Gourmet Album] and felt a little troubled.

Just the day before yesterday, a new quest had appeared in the [Gourmet Album]. He needed to go to ten different places to promote his cuisine and expand his influence.

“Daddy, are you done working?” Tongtong ran to Jiang Liu’s side and hugged his leg, snuggling against him.

Jiang Liu patted her head. “What’s wrong, are you hungry?”

“Mhm! Daddy, my little tummy is saying it’s hungry.”

“How about you, Qingmeng?” Jiang Liu glanced at Jun Qingmeng, who was diligently mopping the floor for him without a word of complaint.

Jun Qingmeng straightened up, tucked a stray strand of hair from her brow behind her ear, and said in a tone that was both earnest and playful, “Anything’s fine. I love whatever you make!”

“Alright, how about braised sea cucumber for dinner then?”

“Huh?!” Jun Qingmeng’s mind went into a flurry. When she snapped out of it, she shot Jiang Liu a glare. “Eat your head!”

Jiang Liu: “???”

Tongtong giggled, covering her mouth to stifle her laughter.

“Laugh again and this month’s ice cream supply will be confiscated!” Jiang Liu said with a stone face, mercilessly teasing his daughter.

“????” Jiang Tongtong was dumbfounded.

‘Waaah, it’s so hard being a little cutie!!’

‘When can I grow up? Daddy said that when I’m a big girl, I can have an extra piece of ice cream every week!’

After cleaning up, the family of three had a wonderful dinner together.

Jiang Liu sat at the table, looking at his phone.

DING!

Just then, a message arrived from Jun Xinghe: “Xiao Jiang, the villa is finished. All the appliances are in place. When are you moving in?”

Jiang Liu: “Whenever is fine. We can move in a couple of days.”

Jun Xinghe: “How about tonight? The designer is planning to leave South City tonight. You should go so he can show you how to use some of the smart home features. A lot of the hidden ones are quite complex.”

Jiang Liu: “That works. I’ll head over directly tonight then.”

At that moment, Jun Qingmeng, her hair down and wearing a white dress with a blue jade bead bracelet on her wrist, placed a bowl of rice in front of Jiang Liu. She smiled gently and said, “Husband, eat some more. I feel like you’ve gotten thinner from exhaustion these past few days.”

“Mhm, okay. You eat more too,” Jiang Liu smiled, replying to the message while lowering his head to shovel rice into his mouth.

“What are you talking to Jun Xinghe about?” Jun Qingmeng leaned her head closer.

A pleasant gardenia fragrance, mixed with her warm, sweet scent, drifted over.

“It’s your dad,” Jiang Liu said, handing the phone to Jun Qingmeng. “He says the house is renovated and we can move in tonight.”

“Oh, it’s renovated already?” Jun Qingmeng blinked. “That’s fine with me. I think the villa’s style is really nice, I’m excited to move in.”

Jiang Tongtong, who had been eavesdropping with pricked ears, frowned. “Daddy, does that mean Tongtong has to live separately from you?”

‘She really didn’t want to be separated from her daddy. She wanted to stay with him forever and ever!’

“That’s right. What else, little treasure!” Jiang Liu tapped his daughter’s head. “You’re a big girl now. You can’t live with Mommy and Daddy anymore, understand?”

“Besides, if you live with your mommy and daddy, they won’t be able to make a little brother for you, you know?”

“Mmph!” Hearing that they couldn’t make a little brother, Tongtong could only agree sullenly. “Okay then, Daddy. But after you have a little brother, Tongtong is coming back to live with you again!”

“Deal,” Jiang Liu replied perfunctorily.

Listening from the side, Jun Qingmeng’s face turned beet red.

Her slender, pale hands clutched her dress. At this moment, she suddenly felt extremely nervous.

‘She was afraid she’d make a fool of herself tonight.’

“What’s wrong, wifey?” Jiang Liu suddenly leaned in close to Jun Qingmeng’s face.

“Ah!?” Jun Qingmeng snapped to her senses, her eyes flustered. She quickly picked up her chopsticks and grabbed a slice of meat. “It’s nothing. Here, eat this meat, eat some more.”

“Hehe, Mommy, I want to eat meat too.”

Around 9:00 PM.

Jiang Liu saw the designer off and then strolled around the elegant little courtyard for a while.

He was in a delightful mood.

‘Living in a villa is so much more comfortable and quiet… Yep, time to take a shower and go to bed hugging my wife!’

By now, Jun Qingmeng had already showered and was in Tongtong’s small, orange-colored room, telling her a story to lull her to sleep.

After his shower, Jiang Liu took a look.

Jun Qingmeng, now changed into an exquisite blue nightgown, rolled her eyes at him.

She was sitting sideways on the bed, her long, fair legs seeming to glow under the light.

After telling the story for a little while longer and seeing Tongtong drift off to dreamland, Jun Qingmeng’s heart began to pound, her face flushing crimson.

Putting down the fairy tale book, Jun Qingmeng slipped on her slippers and tiptoed back to the master bedroom.

Jiang Liu was on his laptop, looking at the sales data for the eighth new store.

Their eyes met, and Jiang Liu smiled.

Jun Qingmeng hurriedly averted her gaze and dove under the covers by herself.

“What’s this? We sleep in the same bed every day and I don’t see you act this shy. Why are you so different today?” Jiang Liu teased with a smile.

“It’s nothing, I’m just a little sleepy…” Jun Qingmeng mumbled shyly from under the covers.

‘I should probably take the initiative,’ Jiang Liu thought. ‘Girls like to be modest, after all.’

He put down his laptop and pulled a coyly resisting Jun Qingmeng into his arms.

Jun Qingmeng’s breathing grew ragged as she wrapped her arms around Jiang Liu’s neck…

It was a sleepless night, and plum blossoms dotted the clean sheets…

At three in the morning, Jiang Liu, holding his sweetly sleeping wife, took a breath and casually typed out an announcement in his Douyin group chat.

“Busy today. The restaurant will be closed.”

The moment the announcement went out, certain night owls lying in their beds shot bolt upright.

A flood of question marks instantly filled the group chat.

“???”

“??????”

“Huh? What’s going on, Brother Jiang? I was just about to get up and go line up!”

“The hell, the hell, I stayed up all night waiting for you to open, and this is what I get??”

“No way! You have to open, or you’ll lose me as a customer forever.”

“Don’t do this, Boss Jiang! Let’s talk this out. Don’t be moody, okay? Waaah.”

“How am I supposed to live without you!!!”

All the foodie group chats exploded.
