Chapter 420 - 419: Even at His Worst, My Husband Is the Best
Chapter 420: Chapter 419: Even at His Worst, My Husband Is the Best
Jiang Liu checked the car. It still had fifty percent battery, and the gas tank had over ten liters left.
He stopped by a gas station to fill up on the way.
"Oh, Boss Jiang?"
After filling up, Jiang Liu went inside to pay and happened to run into Fu Lengleng.
"Uh, hello."
"Here to get gas?"
"Yeah."
"Alright, you can go. I’ll have my dad waive this one for you," Fu Lengleng said with a casual wave of her hand.
Two hundred yuan for gas was just a drop in the bucket.
Jiang Liu was left speechless.
’What if I don’t want to come here next time?’
In the end, he insisted on paying.
He didn’t want to owe too many favors.
Fu Lengleng watched him with a wronged expression as Jiang Liu made a hasty retreat.
After all, his wife, who was standing to the side, was giving him a look.
Back at their apartment complex, Jun Qingmeng and Jiang Liu went to take their showers separately.
CREAK.
The moment Jun Qingmeng arrived home, she found Guo Dapao sitting on the sofa.
The guy was picking at his feet.
Jun Qingmeng was speechless, but she still greeted him politely, "Hello, Uncle Guo."
"You’re back, Niece Jun. How’d it go? That young fellow Boss Jiang didn’t give you any trouble, did he?"
"No," Jun Qingmeng said, shaking her head. "We get along very well."
"Huh? What’s that in your hand? Did you bring something for my daughter to eat?"
"Yes."
"Ahem, good. Just give it to me. Jiajia is busy; I’ll take it to her."
He had just gotten up and was about to reach for it.
SLAM!
The bedroom door was thrown open.
Guo Jia rushed out like a she-wolf protecting her cub.
"You old coot, have you no shame? Qingmeng brought this for me! If you want to eat, go buy your own!"
Guo Jia clutched the bag.
She glared warily at Guo Dapao.
’As expected, it’s hard to guard against a thief in the family!’
Guo Dapao frowned, displeased. "Didn’t we agree before? I eat my fill, then you eat."
"Bullshit! I said after I’ve had my fill, you can have my leftovers!" Guo Jia sneered.
With that said,
she hugged the food tightly and marched toward the kitchen, not giving him an inch.
Guo Dapao grew anxious and followed her. He had been waiting for this life-saving elixir. "Daughter, I’m your father! Didn’t I raise you since you were little? Was I bad to you? Can you really bear to make your loving, fifty-something-year-old father eat your leftovers?"
"Just tell me if you’ll eat them or not. If you don’t eat my leftovers, I’ll flush them down the toilet, and you can eat shit."
"You! Fine, fine, fine! I, Guo Dapao, have raised a fine daughter indeed."
Guo Dapao muttered a complaint, then gritted his teeth and said, completely spinelessly, "Just don’t eat it all. Leave a lot for me. That’s your dad’s only request!"
"I know, I know. Stop bugging me. Go on, shoo."
Jun Qingmeng rolled her eyes elegantly.
’Those two are a real pair.’
"Uncle Guo, don’t worry. I brought enough for both of you. You can steam some rice; there’s boiled fish in chili oil inside."
"Boiled fish in chili oil?"
Guo Dapao grew even more excited.
He immediately ran off to steam the rice.
The two of them bickered in the kitchen for a bit.
Guo Jia came out with some heated-up buns. She planned to eat the boiled fish in chili oil with her dad once he finished making the rice. Though she sounded disdainful, she actually cared a lot about Guo Dapao.
After all, she didn’t have a mother.
Just like Jun Qingmeng. That was why the two of them got along so well.
Jun Qingmeng went into her room to get a nightgown.
Her white, bunny-print nightgown was a little dirty, so today she grabbed a dark blue, oversized cotton T-shirt to sleep in, one that just covered her thighs.
"Mengmeng, have you heard?"
"Huh?"
Guo Jia’s voice was a little muffled. She forcefully swallowed the bun in her mouth and said, "It’s about your dad. He’s trying to spend fifteen million to buy the house next to your new place."
"Even though the house is in the commercial district, it’s only worth about seven or eight million. But the owners just don’t want to sell. Your dad is furious."
"Oh," Jun Qingmeng replied coolly, taking the clips out of her hair in front of the mirror.
She didn’t usually wear makeup; she was a natural beauty.
"Also, I had my dad buy the house behind yours, haha! Surprised?"
Guo Jia said smugly.
"And for the one behind my place, the owner was willing to sell. I heard from my dad that two big shots are fighting over it. Tsk, tsk, the bidding war is intense."
Guo Jia was gloating.
Jun Qingmeng just hummed softly in acknowledgment.
She didn’t care about any of this, as long as it didn’t disturb her life with Jiang Liu.
Guo Jia said with a sigh, "I’m such a genius. Good thing I acted fast. Those people have sharp ears; you guys had just gone to your new house and someone already knew. The housing prices in that alley are being driven sky-high now."
"Looks like it won’t be long before the original residents can’t handle the pressure and have to move out."
Guo Jia continued, talking to herself, "And look now. All those people who used to laugh at us and say we were immature are quiet now, aren’t they? They’re probably hiding somewhere, jealous of us, hehehe."
"I gotta say, your husband is really something else. I just don’t know if he’s ’something else’ at night, but from the looks of it, he probably isn’t lacking..."
"Shut up!"
Jun Qingmeng slammed the bathroom door, fuming.
She’d gotten shy.
After her shower,
Jun Qingmeng spent some more time in the bathroom getting ready.
She was a little troubled.
She’d gotten her period.
’I really hope I don’t get any on the bed. That would be so embarrassing.’
Jun Qingmeng went over to Jiang Liu’s place.
Jiang Liu had already finished bathing Tongtong and was now lying in bed, typing up a business model plan on a beat-up old laptop.
Tongtong was nestled quietly in Jiang Liu’s arms, watching her dad work with rapt attention.
Although she didn’t know what her dad was writing, that didn’t stop her from watching.
"Honey."
"Little cutie?"
"Mommy’s back? Come quick and hold Tongtong, okay?"
"Of course."
Jiang Liu looked up and was instantly captivated.
Jun Qingmeng’s skin was already fair.
The dark blue nightgown she was wearing made it look even fairer.
Especially the pair of long, shapely legs beneath the hem, so fair they were almost luminous.
"What are you looking at?"
Jun Qingmeng sat on the edge of the bed and tapped Jiang Liu’s head.
"Looking at how beautiful you are."
"How beautiful?"
"Super beautiful."
Jun Qingmeng rolled her eyes at Jiang Liu. "So perfunctory!"
"Mommy, hurry!" Tongtong said, getting anxious.
She already had Daddy on her right side, but she needed Mommy on her left, or the little cutie would still be cold.
Jun Qingmeng slipped under the covers, hugged Tongtong, and leaned over to give Jiang Liu a kiss.
"Tongtong, you’re watching so intently. Do you understand any of it?"
"Mhm! I’m about to understand it!" Jiang Tongtong nodded seriously.
Her answer made Jiang Liu and Jun Qingmeng laugh.
"Honey, are you done with work?" Jun Qingmeng slipped her hand under the covers, wrapping it around Jiang Liu’s waist, her fingers naughtily tracing his abs.
She rested her head on Jiang Liu’s shoulder.
"Almost," Jiang Liu said, rubbing his cheek against his darling’s. Her skin was so fragrant and smooth. "I’m not quite satisfied with it. I’ll probably have to revise it a few more times."
Jun Qingmeng’s ears secretly turned red. She said softly, "I think it looks very neat. It’s already amazing that you can put it together so methodically."
’Anyway, she didn’t care.’
’Even if what her husband wrote was terrible, it was still the best to her.’
"If Uncle thought the same way you do, I’d be relieved," Jiang Liu said jokingly.
"Mm," Jun Qingmeng hummed softly. "When you’re done writing, can I take a look and help you review it?"
She was thinking that if her husband’s writing wasn’t good, she would help polish it to make sure her dad would be as satisfied as possible.
"Sure, no problem."
