Chapter 413: Chapter 412: This is Boiled Fish? Yu Guoguang is Shocked
Secretary Wang: "??? President Jun, Boss Jiang made this for me! Don’t you already have some!???"
’Is he even human?!’
Jun Xinghe: "That’s my son-in-law! What’s his is mine, understand?"
"Be a good boy now and remember to save me a portion."
Secretary Wang: "Then you can’t fight me for tomorrow’s!"
Jun Xinghe: "Mm, don’t worry, I won’t."
After sending the message, Jun Xinghe looked up, shocked to find half the Water-Boiled Fish was already gone!
He hurriedly scooped up a large helping of fish with his chopsticks.
The meat was incredibly tender and perfectly salted; you could eat it on its own without it being too salty.
More importantly, it was the combination of savory, spicy, numbing, and aromatic flavors.
No one had touched the rice in the wooden buckets.
They were all fixated on the dishes on the table.
In a flash, the buns were gone. All that remained of the Water-Boiled Fish were a few enoki mushrooms, and the Di San Xian and braised beef were gone too.
Li Feng let out a satisfied burp. "President Jun, I’m suddenly a little envious of you."
"This is the best meal I, Li Feng, have ever had in my entire life!"
"Right? My son-in-law’s cooking is seriously addictive."
Jun Xinghe was gloating inside.
That was just the kind of man he was. He didn’t care much when people envied him, but if they envied his son-in-law, he’d be on cloud nine.
"It’s a shame. If only I could eat like this every day."
Li Feng picked up a soft, sweet piece of potato and his eyes lit up in surprise.
He quickly grabbed another piece, dipped it in the spicy, fragrant broth from the Water-Boiled Fish, and closed his eyes in bliss as he popped it into his mouth.
"Amazing! The potatoes are delicious too!"
"I doubt even Elder Yu could produce a flavor like this, right?" Huang Peiqi couldn’t help but question. "Did your son-in-law really make this? He’s only in his twenties?"
After eating, she felt more and more that something was off. It was just too good... So good it felt like a fantasy, as if she were in a dream.
Could a young man, even younger than her, really have made this?
Jun Xinghe frowned, a hint of displeasure on his face. "My son-in-law made this! Are you questioning his skill?"
"Ahem." Li Feng stepped in to smooth things over. "President Jun, don’t mind her. She’s just a woman—long hair and short on sense. What does she know? She’s just sheltered."
"Li Feng!" Huang Peiqi’s voice was sharp.
"That’s enough! Haven’t you been embarrassing enough?"
Li Feng snapped.
’What was wrong with his fiancée today? Why did she keep embarrassing him like this?’
’Is it that hard to admit someone else is amazing? What a spoiled rotten habit!’
They bickered for a few moments.
Li Feng was too embarrassed to stay any longer.
He decided that when he got back, he would have to reconsider his marriage to Huang Peiqi.
He stood up.
"President Jun, I’ll be heading out. As for your car purchase, I’ll give you the best possible internal discount. You can rest assured."
"A pleasure doing business with you." Jun Xinghe grinned, standing up to shake his hand.
"A pleasure doing business with you."
Li Feng added, "If you ever need any help, please feel free to call me. I really enjoy sitting down and chatting with you."
"Of course. I’ll be sure to if I need anything."
Jun Xinghe’s grin widened.
’You think I don’t know you just want to eat my son-in-law’s cooking?’
This feeling of having something to hold over someone was incredible.
In all his years in business, he had never made a deal that felt this satisfying.
Huang Peiqi, clutching her stomach, had already left ahead of them.
Jun Xinghe chatted with Li Feng as he saw him to his car.
He then turned and got into his own car.
Jun Xinghe sent a text to Secretary Wang: "Did you save my portion?"
Secretary Wang: "I did... It’s in the kitchen."
Jun Xinghe: "Go check on it. Don’t let that freeloader Chef Liu steal any. Find someone to keep an eye on it for me, and make sure you put it somewhere with a security camera."
Secretary Wang cursed inwardly. "I’m on it, President Jun."
Jun Xinghe’s smile vanished as he stared out the car window. Recently, a few things had gone wrong at the company, and he was feeling troubled.

"Brother Jiang, is there any Water-Boiled Fish left? ...Alright then! You didn’t even save one for me! In that case, I’ll take fifteen buns—five pork, five fennel, five chive and egg—and a bottle of beer."
"An order of braised yak beef, a bottle of beer, and fifteen buns, Jiang the Great God! For takeout!"
"Hurry up, Xiao Jiang! If you keep chatting, this old man is going to have to report in at the Naihe Bridge!"
In the shop.
Jiang Liu was swamped. A crowd of people was waiting at the window for takeout, and another group was at the counter placing orders.
Yu Guoguang and Hou Canjun sat in a corner, having already drunk two glasses of mountain spring water, earning them disdainful looks from those around them.
But neither of them cared.
Yu Guoguang said excitedly, "I thought for sure we wouldn’t be able to get any Water-Boiled Fish, but I can’t believe someone didn’t order it."
"Our luck is pretty good. We got the very last one."
Hou Canjun was also visibly excited.
He had just set a new goal for himself: to eat Master Jiang’s food for the next ten years!
"Number forty-nine, your order’s up!"
"Hey, coming, Master Jiang!"
Without a hint of the gravitas of a big shot, Yu Guoguang practically bowed as he scurried over like an errand boy.
"Thanks for your hard work, Master Jiang." He drew in a sharp breath. "Wow, just the smell of this Water-Boiled Fish is making me hungry!"
Yu Guoguang was even more shocked inside.
’If we’re going by smell alone, it really is more appetizing than my own cooking.’
But he couldn’t be sure just yet.
The several delicious dishes were brought to the table by Yu Guoguang.
"Old Yu, this Water-Boiled Fish looks legit. What do you say, how does it compare to yours?"
Hou Canjun asked.
"I think... it’s still a bit lacking," Yu Guoguang said, not entirely certain, though his expression relaxed. "If my cooking is a perfect one hundred, then I’d give Boss Jiang’s... a ninety!"
As a veteran Sichuan cuisine chef, he still had his pride.
"A ninety?"
"Yes, and that’s already excellent. Anything over seventy points is an authentic Water-Boiled Fish, the kind that would sell for five or six hundred a plate."
"Let’s hurry up and try it." Yu Guoguang changed the subject.
The aroma had them both fidgeting in their seats.
Quickly tearing open their chopsticks, Yu Guoguang picked up a slice of tender, white, steaming fish and held it under his nose to smell.
The rich, numbing-spicy fragrance and the aroma of fish rushed straight to his head.
There wasn’t the slightest hint of a fishy smell!
Yu Guoguang swallowed hard. ’Why do I feel like this is even more tempting than my own cooking?’
’It must just be a difference in taste. I’m just sick of my own cooking... Right, that has to be it.’
His thoughts spun as he found an excuse for himself.
He popped the slice of fish into his mouth.
"HSS! This isn’t right, Old Yu! This fish is incredible! It’s way more fragrant than yours, you know?" Hou Canjun remarked as he frantically stuffed his face with fish.
He shot a sidelong glance at Yu Guoguang.
He scoffed inwardly.
’He’s getting completely outclassed by a young guy and he’s still trying to act all high and mighty about his Sichuan cooking.’
Yu Guoguang was also shocked by the tender and smooth texture of the fish.
By now, he was completely certain that Jiang Liu’s Water-Boiled Fish was even more authentic than his own, and its texture and flavor were even more appealing!
He frowned.
"Impressive. Master Jiang is truly worthy of his title. I never expected Master Jiang’s Water-Boiled Fish to be in a class of its own!"
Yu Guoguang suddenly smiled. "However, Old Hou, my knowledge of Sichuan cuisine isn’t limited to just Water-Boiled Fish. When it comes to the cuisine as a whole, I am still qualified to guide Boss Jiang."
"Oh, is that so?" While Yu Guoguang was busy trying to save face, Hou Canjun had already secretly eaten more than ten slices of fish, and he hadn’t skimped on the tofu, bean sprouts, and mushrooms either.
