Chapter 404: Chapter 403: Tongtong Has Her Own Little Room

The problem was, this loud voice was also incredibly childlike and pleasant to hear.

Jiang Liu sent the voice message.

Jun Xinghe received the message and immediately tapped it open.

The moment he did, Tongtong’s loud, childlike voice startled him.

It wasn’t that it sounded bad. He was just caught off guard because it was so sudden.

Normally, Jun Xinghe hated it when people spoke loudly to him.

However, despite being startled, Jun Xinghe didn’t look displeased at all.

Instead, his face broke into a fond, doting smile.

Because the feeling of being cared for by his own little bean sprout was just too heartwarming.

Jun Xinghe replied to Tongtong: "You’re such a good girl, Tongtong. Grandpa has missed you so much these past few days!"

He wasn’t a man of many words.

After a moment of thought, Jun Xinghe decided against sending a message reminding Tongtong to be a little quieter next time.

If it had been Secretary Wang, he would have kicked him long ago.

A moment later, another short voice message came in.

"I know, Grandpa!! Tongtong misses you, too!!"

Jun Xinghe didn’t turn down the volume. After listening to the whole message, he couldn’t keep the smile off his face. Even his view of the HR contract on his desk seemed to brighten considerably.

"Daddy, did Grandpa listen?"

"He did."

Jiang Liu lifted the clingy Tongtong onto a nearby stool.

"Daddy, are you annoyed with me?" Jiang Tongtong pouted, looking unhappy.

Jiang Liu gave her cheek a firm pinch. "I can’t get enough of you, how could I ever be annoyed with you?"

"Hee hee, I knew it! You’re the best, Daddy!"

Tongtong was very easy to please.

"Daddy, let me feed you some shrimp!"

"Honey," Jun Qingmeng said sweetly, picking up a piece of fish and feeding it to Jiang Liu.

"Here, let me feed you two as well."

Jiang Liu gave them each a piece of broccoli.

Jun Qingmeng didn’t protest, obediently taking small bites of the bland broccoli until it was gone.

She was always like this in front of the man she loved—gentle and sweet.

Like a helpless little bunny.

"I finished, Honey!"

"Good job, sweetie. You did great!" Jiang Liu said, stroking her head.

Jun Qingmeng nuzzled against his fingers.

’If he likes stroking my hair, I’ll let him.’

Beside them, Tongtong’s little face fell as she nibbled on her broccoli as if it were poison, forcing it all down.

’Ugh...’

’What could a poor baby like me do?’

’Daddy gave it to me, so I have to eat it!’

’Sigh!’

The little cutie sighed.

’It’s not easy being a good girl for Daddy.’

’I hope Grandpa eats lots and lots of baby broccolis. He should eat all the baby broccolis in the whole world! That way, this little cutie won’t have to eat the broccoli Daddy gives me anymore!’

’Because then Daddy won’t be able to buy any! Hee hee.’

’I’m a genius!’ Tongtong suddenly thought.

Seeing the mischievous glint in his daughter’s eyes, Jiang Liu immediately guessed what she was thinking.

"Good girl. You were so well-behaved today. As a reward, how about I buy you some ice cream tomorrow?"

"Mmmph...! Okay!" Tongtong pouted.

’But I was supposed to have some today.’

’It’s Tuesday, after all. My calculations were perfect.’

’But if Daddy wants to tease me, there’s nothing I can do about it!’

’Sigh, so piteeful.’

’A little cutie like me who only knows how to dote on Daddy can’t possibly defy him!’

’Anyway, after I finish Daddy’s yummy food, I can go home and eat strawberries, dragon fruit, and watermelon!’

’Oh well, I’ll just let him have his way.’

’Since Daddy wants to tease me...’

’...this little cutie will let him!’

’After all, I’m the one who loves Daddy most in the whole world.’

Tongtong’s head was buzzing with these little schemes.

After they finished dinner, his two girls clutched their full bellies and lazed about on their chairs.

Jiang Liu took the plates and bowls to the sink and washed them clean.

After tidying up the shop, Jiang Liu did another check of the water, gas, and electricity. Once he confirmed everything was in order, it was time to go home.

The rain outside had stopped. The once-dry pavement was now soaked a glossy, black. A cool, damp breeze carried the faint, fragrant scent of wet earth.

The streets were bustling with activity once more.

People were out for a stroll, walking their dogs, setting up street stalls, or heading to the supermarket.

Jiang Liu left the shop carrying Tongtong, with Jun Qingmeng holding his left hand.

A customer, who had clearly come hoping for just such a "chance encounter," hurried over.

"Closing up, Boss Jiang? I made these haw flakes myself. Take them with you, they’re great for whetting the appetite!"

"Hey, Boss Jiang! Come on over, take a few watermelons before you leave."

"This little Tongtong just gets prettier and prettier. Look at that little nose and those big eyes! She’s going to be a real beauty when she grows up. Do you like pork floss buns? Here, take them. Have them as a snack at home."

Jiang Liu had only taken a few steps before he was forced to put Tongtong down.

His arms were already full of things that the enthusiastic neighbors had insisted on giving him.

It was mostly fruit.

Pineapples, watermelons, kiwis—all sorts of things.

There was also a box of plump, pink cherries, which clearly weren’t cheap.

There were other daily necessities, too. One auntie even pushed a large pack of sanitary pads into Jun Qingmeng’s hands, saying her work had given them out and that they were a great, reliable brand.

Jun Qingmeng’s face instantly turned an adorable shade of red.

She was just about to get her period, too.

She already had her own pads, though—and they were all high-end brands.

As Jiang Liu loaded everything into the car, he remembered Jun Xinghe’s reminder.

He looked at the two of them in the back seat and suggested, "Why don’t we go check on the new house? Would you two like that?"

Tongtong kicked her little legs. "Okay, Daddy! Tongtong wants to go, too."

"Honey, I’ll go wherever you go."

"Alright."

Jiang Liu started the car and turned on the AC. Then, he let Tongtong take over the center console to pick the music.

Soon, they arrived at a quiet little alley.

Jiang Liu parked the car in an empty spot in front of the small villa.

A large pile of construction materials was stacked by the entrance, but there was no need to worry about theft, as the security cameras had already been installed.

The construction workers had already left for the day.

The three of them went inside.

The interior was in the final stages of decoration. A large sofa, still wrapped in plastic, had been moved in as well.

The house was fitted with central air, and a two-meter-long, eight-horsepower outdoor condenser unit was mounted on a side wall.

Jiang Tongtong excitedly pumped her short legs, scrambling all the way up to the second floor without stopping.

She burst into the little room she had picked for herself.

"Wow! Daddy, is this really my room?"

Jiang Tongtong covered her mouth, her eyes wide with disbelief.

She’d never seen such a beautiful room before!

The walls were already fitted with orange-yellow panels, all the furniture was adorable, and the curtains were covered in cartoon bears.

It was clearly designed for a certain little girl.

"That’s right, it’s yours," Jiang Liu said with a smile. "Do you like it?"

"I love it!!" Tongtong shouted. "Daddy, when can we move in?"

She tugged on Jiang Liu’s pant leg, her big eyes shining with anticipation.

Jiang Liu thought for a moment. "It should be soon. About a month or so. The electrical work is the most time-consuming part."

He’d chosen a high-tech style for the house.

It would involve installing a lot of smart, high-tech appliances.

"Wow, one month! Daddy, we’re going to have our own house again! And I’ll have my very own room! I’m so happy!"

Jiang Tongtong spread her arms wide. "Daddy, to celebrate, can you pick me up and spin me around?"

Seeing how happy his daughter was, Jiang Liu felt a pang of guilt.

Ever since he and Tongtong had left that other house, they had been, in a way, homeless.

Tongtong always said it didn’t matter, that as long as she had her daddy, everything was fine.
