Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor
Chapter 539 - 538: Threat from the Kunpeng Race
Chapter 539: Chapter 538: Threat from the Kunpeng Race
Little Shi Tou had opened his Spiritual Aperture, and the level of his Spiritual Wisdom far exceeded Old Shi Ren’s expectations. The elders were all delighted and unanimously decided to grant Ling Fei the status of the Stone Race’s Eldest Young Master. He would also be given corresponding treatment, such as free access to the Stone Race’s medicinal herbs and ancestral lands.
Furthermore, Old Shi Ren even offered that if Ling Fei encountered any problems in his cultivation, he could consult any of them.
The Grand Elder and the others were very enthusiastic, telling Ling Fei not to be a stranger.
In addition to all this, Ling Fei also received a cave residence and a mountain peak within the Stone Race’s territory.
He was truly being treated like a young master of the Stone Race. The attitude of the old Stone Men toward Ling Fei left the rest of the clan stunned.
’When did these old guys become so kind and approachable?’
However, the news soon spread that Little Shi Tou had opened his Spiritual Aperture and was now no different from a normal person.
No, he was actually even smarter than a normal child.
"I want to be Young Master Ling’s guard!"
"My daughter, you should hurry and apply to be Young Master Ling’s handmaiden!"
"Sister, hurry up and apply to be Young Master Ling’s handmaiden!" The Stone Race was in an uproar. Many people wanted to go to Ling Fei’s mountain and serve as his handmaidens.
Since Ling Fei had just arrived, he had no guards or handmaidens yet. These day-to-day trivial matters would surely need people to handle them.
Besides, how could the esteemed Eldest Young Master of the Stone Race not have any servants?
So, Old Shi Ren issued an announcement, allowing those in the clan willing to take on these roles to submit applications.
But the moment the news was released, elders of the Stone Race began encouraging their own relatives to sign up.
Even the direct descendants were tempted, willing to lower their status to become Ling Fei’s guards and maids.
This caused quite a stir within the Stone Race.
Everyone knew that Ling Fei was an Alchemist. The Elixirs he refined were even more potent than the clan’s Holy Stone Milk, having successfully opened Little Shi Tou’s Spiritual Aperture. If they could frequently be by the side of such a figure, any small reward they might receive would bring them endless benefits for a lifetime!
Who would be willing to miss such an opportunity?
Even a few of the elders encouraged their own descendants to apply to be Ling Fei’s guards.
However, these descendants were incredibly proud and unwilling to do so.
"Such short-sighted fools!" This made the elders so angry their teeth chattered. They slapped those descendants away and stopped paying them any mind.
’Is my great-grandfather an idiot? I’m a respected genius of the Stone Race, and he wants me to be a guard for an outsider?’ these geniuses thought, feeling deeply wronged.
But while others were still applying for the positions, Shi Gang and Shi Gao charged straight over.
The two of them blocked the entrance to Ling Fei’s courtyard early in the morning.
"Young Master Ling, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth if you hire me as a guard! I, Shi Gang, may only be at the Perfect Divine Mansion Realm, but I’m young! I’m only thirty-eight! My potential is limitless, and we’re around the same age, so there’s no generation gap. Hiring me is definitely the right choice!" Shi Gang said, kneeling on the ground and hugging Ling Fei’s waist with a fawning expression.
Seeing this, Ling Fei was speechless. Thirty-eight was still young?
’Around the same age? I’m only eighteen, okay!’
"Young Master Ling, I have a sister! She’s beautiful, gentle, and graceful, with infinite strength, enough to shatter mountains and rivers! She’s a true daughter of heaven. How about I knock her out and deliver her to you?" Seeing how shameless Shi Gang was, kneeling on the ground and hugging Ling Fei’s waist, Shi Gao bit his lip, steeled his heart, and spoke.
’"Gentle and graceful, with infinite strength, enough to shatter mountains and rivers?"’ Ling Fei rolled his eyes repeatedly, picturing a woman built like a bodybuilder.
But when the second part of the sentence registered, he rolled his eyes even more.
’What the hell? If I, Ling Fei, wanted a woman, would I need to knock her out first?’ Ling Fei was speechless. He really wanted to slap Shi Gao to death.
This guy was just too shameless!
"Ahem, I misspoke. I meant I’ll introduce her to you, just introduce her to you," Shi Gao hastily corrected himself.
In the end, worn down by the two of them, a speechless Ling Fei had no choice but to let them be his guards.
If they kept pestering him, Ling Fei felt like he might actually start hitting people.
"Heh heh, thank you, Eldest Young Master! From now on, I, Shi Gang, belong to you. If you need anything, just ask me. There’s nothing in this Sealed Demon Land that I, Shi Gang, don’t know about, from the Ancient Ruins above to which clan has the most beautiful women below..." Shi Gang scrambled to his feet and patted the dust off his clothes.
Shi Gao chimed in with his agreement.
Ling Fei was at a loss for words. These two were experts at the Perfect Divine Mansion Realm!
If they were in the Southern Wilderness, even Beiming Transformation Sea would likely be no match for them.
But here they were, fawning over him and speaking crudely. It made Ling Fei wonder, ’Are these guys even experts?’
Shi Gang and Shi Gao, however, felt even more frustrated in their hearts.
’What damn expert? If you haven’t entered the Daoist Palace Realm and become a King, you don’t count as an expert!’
Soon, the guards and handmaidens were all arranged.
Additionally, the Stone Race assigned a butler to Ling Fei. He was a King, and his aura was even more formidable than Kun Shan’s.
This was an old King named Shi Chongyuan. The Stone Race had stationed him at Ling Fei’s mansion specifically to protect him.
Ling Fei was not only the Eldest Young Master of the Stone Race now, but also a rare Alchemist. Thus, this old man was more than willing to protect him.
Furthermore, a special Guard Team was arranged at the Eldest Young Master’s Mansion to gather medicinal herbs.
With all this, Ling Fei’s Eldest Young Master’s Mansion finally started to look the part.
"Heh heh, now that the guards and handmaidens have all arrived, it’s time to hold an induction ceremony for Ling Fei!" Old Shi Ren said to the other elders with a smile.
They were planning to formally induct Ling Fei into the Stone Race.
Only then would the members of the Stone Race truly accept Ling Fei.
"Reporting to the Clan Leader, the Third Elder of the Kunpeng Race has come in person, saying he has important matters to discuss with you!" Just then, a person came to report from outside the hall.
"The Third Elder of the Kunpeng Race?" Hearing this, Old Shi Ren’s eyes narrowed. "What are they doing here?"
"It should be about Young Master Ling," the messenger said.
"These guys are so annoying," Old Shi Ren said, looking displeased. The Stone Race was in the middle of celebrating. Weren’t they just here to spoil the mood?
"Will the Clan Leader see him?" the messenger asked.
"Let him come," Old Shi Ren said.
A moment later, the Third Elder of the Kunpeng Race arrived.
He was a gaunt old man named Kunlong. His eyes were as deep as a dark sea, and a terrifying aura emanated from his body.
This aura was almost on par with the Grand Elder’s.
He was a Quasi-Heaven-Reaching Realm expert.
"Kunlong greets Elder Shi!" Kunlong stepped forward. After glancing at the other elders in the hall, he clasped his hands in a salute toward Old Shi Ren on the dais.
"Please, have a seat," Old Shi Ren said, waving his hand to indicate there was no need for formalities.
Kunlong sat down.
"To what do we owe the pleasure of Elder Kun’s visit to my clan?" Old Shi Ren inquired.
"Heh heh, the day before yesterday, Kun Shan paid a visit, wanting your esteemed clan to hand over that young man from the Human Race, Ling Fei," Kunlong said with a smile. "To be honest, I’ve come for the same reason. I hope Elder Shi can be a little flexible, for the sake of the many years of friendship between our two clans. That would be best for everyone."
His final words carried a hint of a threat.
"Ling Fei?" Old Shi Ren frowned. "And what if I refuse?" His gaze sharpened, his tone turning frigid.
"Refuse?" At his words, Kunlong’s gaze also turned icy.
Kun Shan was a junior, so he certainly didn’t carry enough weight.
But he was an elder of the Kunpeng Race, a Quasi-Heaven-Reaching Realm expert, here as a representative of his clan. For Old Shi Ren to be so unyielding...
This was a complete disregard for the Kunpeng Race’s dignity!
It made his gaze become incomparably cold.
One must know that even among the major Divine Races of Ancient Times, the Kunpeng Race was a top-tier existence. Which major clan would dare to show them such disrespect?
However, Old Shi Ren’s expression grew even colder.
"Let me be honest with you. Ling Fei is now a member of my Stone Race. He is our Eldest Young Master. If your Kunpeng Race makes a move against him, you will be offending the entire Stone Race. My clan will muster its full strength to fight your Kunpeng Race to the death. So, if you’ve come for Ling Fei, you can see yourself out!" Old Shi Ren’s tone was incredibly firm.
Not only that, but Light Patterns flickered in his eyes, and a terrifying pressure bore down.
The pressure made the Void itself seem as if it would shatter. Even Kunlong felt as if his Divine Soul was about to disintegrate.
’This old man is protecting that Human brat so forcefully?’ Seeing this, Kunlong’s brow furrowed tightly.
He then stood up and said, "Fine. Since Ling Fei is your esteemed clan’s Eldest Young Master, the Kunpeng Race will give you face and not touch him. However, heh heh, his two senior brothers are now in the hands of my Kunpeng Race. If he wants them to live, then let him come to the Kunpeng Race to get them himself!"
"Haha!" Kunlong let out a savage laugh, then flipped his palm over. "Oh, right. These are his two brothers’ weapons."
With that, a long saber and a pair of Iron Hammers flew toward Old Shi Ren.
Old Shi Ren made a sweeping motion with his large hand, drawing them to his side.
At that moment, Kunlong was laughing boisterously as he strode away smugly.
"That Kunlong is so arrogant! I really want to slap him to death!" In the great hall, the Sixth Elder’s eyes turned cold, and he ground his teeth in anger.
"Can you slap him to death?" the Grand Elder asked with disdain.
"No, but you can, Big Brother. And so can the Clan Leader," the Sixth Elder replied with a sheepish laugh.
The Grand Elder rolled his eyes repeatedly. However, he too was furious at Kunlong’s arrogant display.
If not for the relationship between the two clans, he really would have slapped him to death.
Finally, their gazes shifted in unison toward the old Clan Leader on the throne.
Beside the old Clan Leader now lay several weapons.
"Clan Leader, should we inform Young Master Ling about this?" the Grand Elder asked.
"I don’t think we should. It will cause big trouble," the Fourth Elder said.
"If we don’t tell him, I’m afraid he’ll hold a grudge," the Grand Elder said, shaking his head.
"Tell him," Old Shi Ren said, his eyes flashing. "Since it has happened, there’s nothing to worry about."
"Alright!" In the end, they unanimously decided to tell Ling Fei.
Ling Fei was summoned. When he saw the weapons in the great hall, his expression changed drastically.
"This saber belongs to Senior Brother He, and these hammers belong to Senior Brother Zhao! They’ve fallen into the hands of the Kunpeng Race?" Ling Fei’s brow furrowed. His worst fear had come to pass. At the same time, he was overcome with guilt. If he had acted sooner back then, he might have had a chance to protect his two senior brothers.
