Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor
Chapter 534 - 533: Why Should I Give You the Elixir?
Chapter 534: Chapter 533: Why Should I Give You the Elixir?
"Since it has come to this, I shall take my leave!" Kun Shan said through gritted teeth, his brows knitting as he cupped his fists.
"I won’t see you out!" Old Shi Ren waved his hand, looking as if he couldn’t wait for Kun Shan to leave.
Kun Shan rose to his feet, flicked his sleeve, and, along with the two young men, transformed into a streak of light and departed.
"Are we just leaving like this?" As Kun Shan departed, the two young men by his side frowned deeply.
They had originally assumed that by coming with such generous gifts, the Stone Race would have easily handed the man over.
But who would have thought that after Old Shi Ren had seemed ready to hand the man over, he would change his mind at the last second? It was baffling.
After all, they had given such extravagant gifts!
"Let’s return to the clan before we discuss this further," Kun Shan said, a ferocious glint in his eyes. "So what if the Stone Race won’t hand him over? I have my own ways of dealing with that brat."
"Hmph. Daring to ruin the grand affairs of my clan... If I don’t see you dead, how could my Kunpeng Race possibly swallow this humiliation?" A murderous aura radiated from Kun Shan’s eyes.
Just yesterday, they had received a message from some members of the Beiming Sword Sect, informing them of what had transpired in the Southern Wilderness.
After Ling Fei’s departure, the Corpse Spirit Race and the Beiming Sword Sect had also sensed something was wrong, realizing they had fallen into a trap.
The Beiming Clan had found an Array Platform left behind by their ancestors and used it to contact the Kunpeng Race, telling them what had happened in the Southern Wilderness.
Coincidentally, the Kunpeng Race had also noticed the worldly phenomenon that accompanied Ling Fei’s appearance.
Furthermore, they had captured two people and deduced from them that Ling Fei was likely with the Stone Race.
They hadn’t expected to run right into Ling Fei while meeting with the Stone Race Elders.
The two youths beside him nodded slightly, one whispering, "I wonder if we use those two Human Race brats as bait, we can force this man to submit."
"As long as he remains in the Sealed Demon Land, there will be an opportunity to kill him." Kun Shan, for his part, was not at all worried about their ability to eliminate Ling Fei.
...
「In the great hall of the Stone Race.」
After Kun Shan left, the atmosphere in the great hall immediately grew feverish.
"These two Demon Beasts have such abundant Spirituality! It seems they’ve truly awakened their Spiritual Wisdom!"
"They’re completely unlike ordinary Demon Beasts." The seven elders of the Stone Race all stared with feverish intensity at Ling Fei and the two Demon Beasts.
The Demon Beasts were now very docile, rubbing against Ling Fei’s legs.
With a flip of his hand, Ling Fei produced another Jade Bottle, shook out two elixirs, and fed them to the two Demon Beasts.
"More elixirs?"
"What kind of elixirs is he giving them now!" The members of the Stone Race were utterly astonished.
"Young Master Ling, this...?" Old Shi Ren couldn’t help but ask.
"Hehe, my elixirs are graded. What I gave these two Demon Beasts just now was only the lowest-level Spirit Awakening Pill. Now that they’re so obedient, it seems my effort to awaken their Spiritual Wisdom wasn’t in vain. So, I’ll reward them with a slightly more advanced elixir to raise their intelligence just a little bit more." Ling Fei chuckled, and with a flip of his palm, the elixir bottle vanished.
He then gently stroked the heads of the Demon Wolf and the Demon Eagle.
The two Demon Beasts were very docile. The light in their eyes was exceptionally soft, and they nodded repeatedly, just like a pair of pets.
It was as if they knew that the awakening of their Spiritual Wisdom was entirely thanks to the young man in front of them.
That being the case, how could they possibly dare to act unruly in his presence?
At the same time, they had come to see Ling Fei as their benefactor.
"To think... he’d casually feed such precious elixirs to two Demon Beasts!" Shi Gang was utterly dumbfounded.
’These are elixirs that can awaken Spiritual Wisdom, a peerless rarity, and this man in front of me is squandering them like this?’
’Agh... What an outrageous waste!’ another burly man roared internally. His eyes blazed as he stared fixedly at the two Demon Beasts, his fists clenched so tightly it seemed he wanted to rush over and snatch the two elixirs right out of their mouths.
"Is that all you amount to?" Seeing this, Ling Fei rolled his eyes at the burly man.
This was the same guy who had been relentlessly questioning Ling Fei just moments before!
"COUGH COUGH." After being shot a look by Ling Fei, the burly man coughed awkwardly, his face a mask of embarrassment.
At a signal from Ling Fei, the two Demon Beasts settled down on the ground and began to refine the elixir’s medicinal properties.
The efficacy of the Spirit Awakening Pills varied in strength, which was determined by the completeness of the Pill Patterns Ling Fei had inscribed on them.
"Hehe, Brother Ling is truly a man of divine means," the Clan Leader of the Stone Race said with a hearty laugh, full of praise.
"Hehe, Brother Ling," an elder beside him chimed in with a smile, "your elixirs can awaken the Spiritual Wisdom of Demon Beasts, but can they also dispel ignorance and awaken it in people?"
Everyone was now looking at Ling Fei with wide, amiable smiles. Despite being top-tier experts, they let none of their imposing aura show.
"My elixirs can dispel ignorance and awaken Spiritual Wisdom in Demon Beasts, humans, and other living beings alike. You’ve already witnessed their effects," Ling Fei said with casual indifference, leaning back in his chair in a comfortable posture and raising an eyebrow. He made no mention of the incident with the Kunpeng Race.
It was as if the threat from the Kunpeng Race was completely beneath his notice.
His calm demeanor only served to make the members of the Stone Race feel that Ling Fei was even more profound and unfathomable.
"Hehe, I wonder if young brother might be willing to part with an elixir to help my great-grandson open his Spiritual Apertures?" Old Shi Ren asked with a smile.
The six elders beside him also turned to Ling Fei, their faces filled with anticipation.
"And why should I give you any elixirs?" Ling Fei shot back, raising an eyebrow.
"This..." The smiles on the elders’ faces froze, replaced by looks of utter embarrassment.
Just moments ago, they had been planning to hand Ling Fei over to the Kunpeng Race.
"But you just gave those two Demon Beasts four elixirs!" the burly man at the door shouted, his eyes red.
He had been hoping to get an elixir for himself. Now that Ling Fei was suddenly unwilling to give any away, how could he not be frantic?
"I did it because I felt like it. If it makes me happy, I’ll feed them every single day," Ling Fei said, shooting the man a contemptuous look.
"You..." The burly man was rendered speechless. Then, his gaze turned cold as he said, "Brat, don’t forget you’re a guest in our clan. Don’t be so arrogant."
He was trying to threaten Ling Fei.
"I am being arrogant. What are you gonna do, bite me?" Ling Fei said with an extremely arrogant glance.
"You..." The burly man was livid, and the aura of his Divine Mansion Realm cultivation flared out.
Ling Fei, however, remained perfectly composed, his expression clearly saying, ’What are you going to do about it?’
"Shi Gao, stand down! Is this your place to speak?" Seeing the burly man’s menacing aura, an elder in the great hall snapped.
"Yes, Grand Elder!" At once, Shi Gao’s aura dissipated, and he bowed his head and withdrew.
’What an idiot,’ Shi Gang thought. ’Trying to get an elixir by acting so hostile. Doesn’t he know Alchemists are born to be treated like lords?’
He put on a wide smile and looked at Ling Fei.
"Brother Ling—no, Master Ling! You promised me an elixir before!" Shi Gang immediately forced a fawning smile onto his face.
"PFFT!" Upon hearing this, the elders in the hall nearly spat out blood.
’What has become of our Stone Race?’
’Shi Gang is usually such a tough guy, yet here he is, bowing and scraping for a single elixir!’
’Isn’t he bringing shame upon the entire Stone Race?’
The old Clan Leader was also mortified, too embarrassed to even open his mouth.
"Shi Gang, you get down here as well!" the Grand Elder shouted, his expression darkening.
"But..." Shi Gang was reluctant to leave; he hadn’t gotten his elixir yet.
Seeing this, the Grand Elder rolled his eyes in exasperation. With a flick of his great hand, Shi Gang was unceremoniously swept out of the room.
Then, the doors to the hall slammed shut.
"SIGH!" Outside the hall, Shi Gao’s face was a picture of resignation.
"This is all your fault," Shi Gang grumbled. "If I had just taken the elixir back then, would any of this even be happening?"
If he had, he would already be in closed-door cultivation by now.
