Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor
Chapter 472 - 471: Primordial Celestial Stone
Chapter 472: Chapter 471: Primordial Celestial Stone
"Strength!" Ling Fei clenched his fists.
His strength had soared during the Martial Arts Competition, and he’d gained new insights in the Martial Arts Hall at the North Spirit Ruins. He had thought himself quite exceptional.
But now, he saw that such achievements were far from enough.
"Our meeting here was fated. As thanks for your assistance, I shall gift you something." Suddenly, a glint flashed in Emperor Xi’s eyes. After glancing at Ling Fei, his great hand made a grasping motion in the air. Light Patterns flickered throughout the ruins as a hazy beam of light whistled toward them like a Star Arrow.
The next moment, the light shot directly into Ling Fei’s mind.
"This is a Supreme Treasure I came upon by chance. It is called the Primordial Celestial Stone, and it holds endless mysteries," Emperor Xi said with a smile. "If you can comprehend its secrets, I believe you can become a great power in your own right and protect the world."
BUZZ!
As Light Patterns flickered, Ling Fei felt a tremor in his mind. A stone wreathed in Primordial Qi had appeared within.
The stone was not large, part crystal and part stone. Hazy Dao Patterns swirled across its surface. A single glance was enough to see it seemed to contain all the profound mysteries of the universe.
’The Primordial Celestial Stone!’ Ling Fei’s heart stirred as he sensed the stone’s mysterious Dao Patterns.
"This item can obscure the Celestial Secret and invoke Chaos Reversed. You’ve burned your Divine Soul Power and damaged your foundation. If you guide the Primordial Qi within it to temper your Divine Soul, you should be able to repair that damage. Heh, consider it compensation for your sacrifice," Emperor Xi said with a smile. He held this junior in high regard.
Were it not for Ling Fei’s heart being set on the Righteous Dao, he would never have gifted such a Supreme Treasure so casually.
’It can obscure the Celestial Secret, invoke Chaos Reversed, and even repair my Divine Soul?’ Ling Fei was shaken. A Supreme Treasure like this was clearly priceless.
’How can I possibly accept such a treasure!’ Ling Fei was aghast. He had never imagined Emperor Xi would bestow such an item upon him.
"Heh, this item was always intended for one with whom I share a bond of fate," Emperor Xi said with a smile and a wave of his hand. "We met, and we joined forces to suppress a demon. That is fate enough. From now on, you need only uphold the Righteous Dao, cultivate diligently, and strive to reach the Martial Arts Peak. Then you can shelter the children of the Human Race from the storms to come." ℯℯ𝘭.
"In that case, Ling Fei thanks you for this gracious gift, Senior," Ling Fei said with a deep bow.
"There is no need for such formality," Emperor Xi said, waving his hand. "Although we annihilated the Kunpeng Ancestor’s Split Soul, my True Spirit has been greatly depleted. I will have few opportunities to act in the future. I hope that you will one day meet my true self. By then, I imagine you will have become someone quite extraordinary."
He seemed to be filled with anticipation for that day.
’Meet your true self?’ The words stunned Ling Fei. Emperor Xi was an Ancient Human Emperor, one of the most powerful beings in existence.
How could it possibly be easy to reach his level?
The thought sent ripples of emotion through Ling Fei’s heart.
What would it be like, if that day ever came?
As the waves of emotion washed over him, an expression of yearning appeared on Ling Fei’s face.
At the same time, a new, small goal took root in his heart: to reach the very peak and meet this great sage of the Human Race.
’If we could join forces again to vanquish demons, wouldn’t that be one of life’s greatest joys?’
As his thoughts churned, Ling Fei’s eyes suddenly lit up. He looked up at the Human Emperor and asked, "Emperor Xi, is your true self still alive in this world?"
Emperor Xi simply smiled, saying nothing more, which was an admission in itself.
"He’s really alive?" Ling Fei was inwardly shaken. "Then are you still in this world?" he couldn’t help but ask.
’If Emperor Xi’s true self is in the world, he should be able to suppress the Kunpeng Ancestor, right?’
"If we are fated to, we shall meet. For now, however, you must work harder. The future of this world rests on the shoulders of the young. As for myself, a single pillar cannot hold up the sky. I have my own troubles to attend to. Therefore, you must rely on yourself and never depend too much on others."
With this final word of advice, Emperor Xi’s True Spirit Body flashed and disappeared into the Sealing Demon Array.
"This junior will heed Emperor Xi’s teachings!" Ling Fei murmured, bowing deeply.
Emperor Xi hadn’t said it outright, but he had implied that even though he was alive, he was constrained by other matters.
Therefore, the world’s problems had to be faced by the people of the world, working together.
’The world is vast, and experts are countless. Everyone faces challenges appropriate to their level. If I want to establish myself in this world, I must rely on myself.’ Ling Fei’s gaze sharpened as he watched Emperor Xi’s figure fade. He muttered the words under his breath, the light in his eyes becoming incredibly resolute.
This experience had made him far more mature.
He had also come to understand the vastness of the world and the frailty of a single person’s strength.
The fluctuations of aura in the vicinity began to gradually subside.
"Ling Fei, are you all right?"
"What were you and Emperor Xi talking about?" Shangguan Wan’Er and Lian Shuang approached, their faces full of curiosity.
Emperor Xi and Ling Fei had communicated using their Heart Spirits, so outsiders had no idea what had happened, let alone that the Emperor had gifted Ling Fei a Supreme Treasure. But it was obvious they had been communicating, so Shangguan Wan’Er and Lian Shuang were curious about what Ling Fei and the Ancient Human Emperor had discussed.
Communicating with an Ancient Human Emperor was something countless people couldn’t even achieve in their wildest dreams!
"The Human Emperor gave me a few words of instruction, telling us of the younger generation to cultivate diligently and support the world," Ling Fei said to the two women, collecting his thoughts.
"The Human Emperor is truly a great sage of the Ancient Times," Lian Shuang murmured.
She had heard many stories about the Ancient Era and knew of the Human Emperor’s fame.
To think that even now, this great sage was still so concerned with the fate of the world.
"For now, this matter is settled. Let’s leave this place," Ling Fei said.
This trip to the North Spirit Ruins had left Ling Fei’s heart in turmoil.
He felt the importance of strength more keenly than ever and wanted to leave immediately to begin cultivating in seclusion.
"All right," Shangguan Wan’Er agreed with a nod. She, too, was eager to enter seclusion.
Lian Shuang, however, frowned slightly, a worried look on her face.
"Senior Sister, what’s wrong?" Ling Fei asked, a questioning look in his eyes.
"Go back? But where can I go now?" Lian Shuang asked, her face filled with sorrow.
Now that her identity had been exposed, what was the point of her staying in the Southern Wilderness, or at the Lingyun Sect?
If people found out who she was, how could she ever find a place for herself in the Lingyun Sect?
"Senior Sister, don’t overthink it. In my heart, you are still the senior sister who guided my progress. That’s true now, and it will always be true. As long as I’m around, I won’t allow anyone in the Lingyun Sect—or even the entire Southern Wilderness—to speak ill of you." He instantly understood her worries. He stared at Lian Shuang and spoke, enunciating each word with purpose. "Just come back with me to the Lingyun Sect. As for the past... let it all be swept away by the wind."
Although Lian Shuang’s identity was sensitive, Ling Fei felt he owed his senior sister more than just gratitude for her guidance; she had also saved his life on several occasions.
Take what happened earlier, when Lian Shuang had thrust her sword at Xu Zitao without a second thought. That gesture alone was something Ling Fei would remember for a lifetime.
How could he possibly abandon her?
"The past... can it really be swept away by the wind?" Lian Shuang asked with a bitter smile.
After all, she had come to the Southern Wilderness for the same reason as Xu Zitao: to help the Kunpeng Ancestor break free.
Even if her heart was no longer in it, could others ever forgive her?
