Chapter 541 - 541: Good Night

Hu Dajun's face went from pale to livid. He was about to erupt, but then he realized everyone in the private room was glaring at him.

Shocked, he finally realized that his actions had angered the entire room. If he dared to cause a scene now, even if Zhao Yuan didn't lift a finger, his classmates would likely join Lin Xue in beating him to a pulp.

Zhaoling went even further, standing by Lin Xue's side and telling him, "Hu Dajun, today is my birthday, and you've done nothing but cause trouble. I have to say it: you're not welcome here. Please leave!"

Considering they were classmates, she was being quite polite.

Faced with this situation, Hu Dajun immediately cowered. Unwilling to admit defeat, he consoled himself, 'I'll back off for now. Discretion is the better part of valor. I'll have plenty of chances to deal with this shameless pair later!'

His love curdling into hate, Hu Dajun now saw even Lin Xue as an enemy. He spat out a final remark to save face and left without a backward glance.

As they watched his dejected retreat, not a single person in the private room felt any sympathy for him; instead, they all celebrated.

And that was indeed the case. Back in high school, Hu Dajun had used his good grades as an excuse to be arrogant, looking down on everyone. He would mock his classmates for no reason, and since he was a top student and a teacher's pet, no one dared to cross him, save for a few troublemakers.

Over the years, people had built up considerable resentment toward him. Seeing him finally get his comeuppance was incredibly satisfying for everyone.

Zhaoling closed the door to the private room and said to Lin Xue, "Xiaoxue, I never would've guessed! You have such a fierce side to you. I've always thought of you as gentle and quiet."

Her words immediately drew a chorus of agreement.

"Right? When Xiaoxue suddenly exploded like that, it really gave me a shock!"

"But watching Xiaoxue get angry was so badass and cool!"

"Cool? I thought she was more like a mother hen protecting her chick, hahaha..."

Even Zhao Yuan gave Lin Xue a thumbs-up.

Lin Xue grew a little embarrassed and asked quietly, "Was I a little too wild back there?"

Zhao Yuan smiled. "Wild? Not at all. I thought you were amazing. It felt great to be protected by you."

Lin Xue was secretly delighted but said aloud, "Oh, stop it. You're such a sweet-talker!"

Just then, Zhaoling raised her glass and called out, "Alright, alright, let's stop teasing Lin Xue. Can't you see she's blushing? And you two, Lin Xue and Zhao Yuan, can you stop with the public displays of affection? A lot of us are single here, and it's torture to watch you two be so lovey-dovey. Come on, let's have a drink! Don't let Hu Dajun spoil the mood!"

"Cheers!" everyone chimed in, raising their glasses of alcohol or soda and drinking together merrily.

Meanwhile, Hu Dajun stormed out of the hot pot restaurant, his face dark.

As he stepped out of the restaurant, he glanced back and snarled through gritted teeth, "Zhao Yuan, is it? I'll remember that name! Steal my woman and humiliate me... I'm not done with you! Just you wait, I will get my revenge!"

Hu Dajun muttered this under his breath, so no one around him heard, but the Bone Woman waiting nearby heard every word.

She immediately walked up to Hu Dajun and asked with a captivating smile, "Who are you cursing at, handsome?"

Hu Dajun was in a foul mood and snapped back, "Who the hell I'm cursing is none of your damn business!" As the words left his mouth, he turned his head and saw the Bone Woman.

The Bone Woman had changed into a new outfit, which made her look even more beautiful while also giving her an air of valiant authority.

"Holy crap, a beauty!" Hu Dajun's eyes instantly lit up, and he was immediately filled with regret. If he had known such a beautiful woman was talking to him, he would have been far more polite. He had probably offended her with what he just said. Anxious to salvage the situation, he quickly explained, "I'm so sorry, I really am. I was in a bad mood and spoke too harshly. Please don't take it to heart."

"It's alright." The Bone Woman smiled faintly and asked, "I'm just curious about who you were cursing."

Her smile made Hu Dajun's eyes go wide. "I was cursing a bastard named Zhao Yuan."

"The Zhao Yuan from West Hua Medical University?" the Bone Woman asked.

"Huh? How did you know?" Hu Dajun was stunned.

"Of course I know. And I also know that you're about to have some very bad luck!" The Bone Woman's voice suddenly turned icy, and an eerie light flashed in her pupils.

Hu Dajun shuddered, and his eyes went vacant. A moment later, he let out a bloodcurdling scream and, as if he'd gone mad, turned and bolted out of sight. The passersby he startled along the way began to murmur, wondering what could have caused such a bizarre reaction.

Only the Bone Woman knew that she had just thoroughly terrified him with an Illusion Technique.

Gazing in the direction Hu Dajun had fled, she snorted. 'Daring to oppose my master... you have to be taught a lesson. You should consider yourself lucky. Since I began following my master, my temper and methods have mellowed considerably. Otherwise, I wouldn't have just scared you with an Illusion Technique—I would have taken your life.'

Zhao Yuan had no idea that Hu Dajun had just been dealt with by the Bone Woman. He was getting along wonderfully with Lin Xue's high school classmates.

After the hot pot, the group went to a nearby KTV to sing and continue celebrating, not stopping until eleven at night.

After saying goodbye to Zhaoling and the others, Zhao Yuan called a car to take Lin Xue home.

When they arrived at the gate of Lin Xue's family villa, it was too late for Zhao Yuan to go inside, so they shared a reluctant farewell right there.

Zhao Yuan released Lin Xue's hand and said, "You should head inside. Don't make your parents worry."

Lin Xue hummed in agreement. "Okay, I'm going in then."
