Divine Level Witch Doctor
Chapter 530 - 530: Blow Up the Bastards
An idea struck him. Zhao Yuan turned to Ying Ji and the others, shouting, "Stay hidden and don't move! I'll handle them!"
Ying Ji, afraid he would impulsively rush out to face them head-on, quickly tried to stop him. "Don't do anything reckless! Their firepower is intense. No matter how powerful you are, you're not bulletproof. Rushing out now will only put you at a disadvantage. It's better to stay hidden and wait for an opportunity to strike back."
"Don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to take them on directly," Zhao Yuan said, retrieving a Mirage Talisman from his Storage Ring Space.
"A Mirage Talisman?" Cheng Haoyu's eyes lit up as he exclaimed in pleasant surprise, "Haha, how could I have forgotten about this Talisman? It can create an illusion to confuse people. Brother Zhao, hurry up and conjure something to make those bastards kill each other!"
Zhao Yuan didn't do that.
He knew his opponents were quite strong. If he used the Mirage Talisman to create an Illusion Realm and make them fight each other, they would likely become suspicious immediately. Not only would it be ineffective, but it would also tip them off.
Even an illusion had to be plausible.
With a wave of Zhao Yuan's hand, the Mirage Talisman instantly burned to ash. Green smoke billowed into the air and drifted rapidly toward the enemy. In the blink of an eye, it had entered each of their nostrils, stimulating their brains and inducing hallucinations.
The man with the gold-rimmed glasses and his men had no idea they had already fallen into the trap.
In their vision, Zhao Yuan and his group scrambled out of their hiding spot and fled at a dead run.
"Chase them! Don't let them escape! We must kill every last one of them!" the man in the gold-rimmed glasses roared, leading the pursuit.
His companions, not wanting to be left behind, joined the chase, firing their guns as they ran.
Watching this unfold, Cheng Haoyu frowned, confused. "You used the Mirage Talisman to lure them away? But what's the point? The moment the effect wears off, they'll snap out of it. And once they've been tricked, they're sure to be on their guard. It'll be much harder to use it on them again."
He was disappointed that Zhao Yuan hadn't taken his advice.
But his disappointment didn't last long.
For in Zhao Yuan's hand, a remote detonator had appeared.
It all clicked into place. Seeing the direction Zhao Yuan had lured the enemy with the Mirage Talisman, he was absolutely certain. "You're planning to use the explosive trap on those bastards?"
"Exactly." Zhao Yuan nodded. "These men are strong, and they're cunning. If I had used the Mirage Talisman to make them fight each other, they would have instantly sensed something was wrong and broken free of its influence. But luring them into a trap with an illusion is another matter. No matter how cunning or vigilant they are, it's almost impossible for them to realize something is amiss."
As they spoke, the man in gold-rimmed glasses and his companions charged right into the explosive trap.
Just then, the man in gold-rimmed glasses suddenly froze. His face contorted, and he shrieked, "Get out of here! Get out of here, now! Something's wrong with this place!"
The man's perception of danger was far beyond what Zhao Yuan had anticipated.
But by then, they were all deep inside the kill zone. Run? It was far too late!
"Now!" Zhao Yuan roared, slamming the button on the detonator.
BOOM!
A massive explosion erupted, the sound like a deafening thunderclap. It sent countless shards of rock and clumps of earth flying, and the ground itself shook violently.
The acrid smell of gunpowder filled the air.
When the dust settled, Zhao Yuan and the others saw that of the more than twenty enemies, only four were left standing. The rest were scattered across the ground, killed in the blast.
This explosive trap had originally been set for the Raccoon Power. Its destructive force was undeniable; an ordinary person wouldn't have stood a chance.
The four survivors had been lucky. They had found cover just as the explosion went off, which saved their lives. But while they weren't dead, they were all wounded. The blast had launched countless stones and splinters of debris, and driven by the powerful shockwave, these projectiles had caused immense damage. Each of them was now covered in blood, a pathetic sight.
The man in the gold-rimmed glasses was one of the four survivors.
His gun was nowhere to be found. Staring at the bodies of his companions strewn across the ground, his rage boiled over. He scanned the area and roared, "Where are you?! Show yourselves! How dare you stoop to something as despicable as setting a trap!"
"Despicable? You have the gall to say that!" Hao Li snorted, stepping out from his hiding spot. "It was bad enough that you tried to steal our prize, but you were also going to kill us to tie up loose ends. When it comes to being despicable, who the fuck can top you?"
The coordinated movements of the gold-rimmed man's group made it clear they weren't some hastily assembled, amateur crew. There had to be a powerful family or organization backing them. That meant they had to eliminate every last one of them. Leaving any survivors would lead to endless trouble.
Zhao Yuan, Cheng Haoyu, and Ying Ji knew this as well. They all emerged from hiding and rapidly surrounded the four remaining men.
The man in the gold-rimmed glasses was stunned by their positions. "How are you coming from over there? Weren't you just running in the opposite direction?" He wasn't slow; realization dawned on him instantly. "Damn it! It was an Illusion Technique!"
"You figured it out too late!" Zhao Yuan sneered, charging straight for the man in the gold-rimmed glasses.
He had already seen that among the four survivors, the man in the gold-rimmed glasses was the strongest and the least injured.
'I have to take this one out first, or there could be complications!'
Seeing Zhao Yuan charge, the man in the gold-rimmed glasses wasn't scared in the slightest. Instead, his fighting spirit surged.
"Even injured, killing you will be a piece of cake!" He reached down, drew a tactical knife from a sheath on his thigh, and channeled his Qi into the blade. Instantly, a brilliant white light erupted from it, extending half a meter long!
"Sword Aura!"
Ying Ji, Cheng Haoyu, and Hao Li all recognized what it was and cried out in shock.
The ability to project Sword Aura meant the man's power had reached the Qi Listening Realm!
Only Cultivators who had entered the Qi Listening Realm could absorb and use Qi! Before that, even a Cultivator at the Peak of Marrow Cleansing was incapable of such a feat!
The Qi Listening Realm was not only the highest stage of Body Refining but also the true entry point into the world of cultivation!
Ying Ji, Cheng Haoyu, and Hao Li tried to rush over and help, but the other three enemies rushed up to Chain them, sneering, "Don't even think about helping that kid! Your opponents are us! We will avenge our fallen comrades!"
