Chapter 5143: Interrogation By The First Wife
Chapter 5143: Interrogation By The First Wife
Jillian Hayden felt compelled to get out of bed. She barely held for a moment before flying out and landing on the surface. She then revealed a smile that inevitably came off as awkward when Evelynn stood in front of her at a polite distance away.
"Hello..."
Jillian Hayden’s greeting was so informal and hesitant that she knew she inevitably took the inferior position in this exchange.
However, the aura was unbelievably heavy and sinister, nearly opposite to that of the aura she felt from the Divine Emperor of Death, who never tried to overpower her. She couldn’t believe the other party was merely a Level Three Empyrean like Davis.
How was she doing this? Her own prowess was eight levels higher while she was a Level Nine Empyrean, while she could detect the other party’s prowess to be a ridiculous thirteen levels higher, but she could say it was expected of the first wife of the Divine Emperor of Death.
Still, by all right, this woman should still be weaker than her by a level.
Yet why did it seem like she would be devoured whole if she let her guard down?
Something didn’t feel right.
This feeling... Jillian Hayden briefly understood where this pressure came from.
Before Evelynn could respond, Davis raised his hand and touched her shoulder, gripping it lightly.
"Evy, your actions were dangerous. I can’t believe you came through the secret passageway instead of the underground tunnel. What if you had been found by the Celestial Transcendent?"
Evelynn removed her serpent mask, revealing her beautiful otherworldly countenance. Her skin was pale, her eyes sexily curved, her nose small and sculpted perfectly, while her crimson lips appeared tantalizing.
Jillian Hayden was momentarily stunned to look at this sexy beauty. She had only heard the Hex Demoness was a devil, sometimes even the reason for the Divine Emperor of Death to be so evil, but never had she heard she was so beautiful.
Evelynn’s lips moved, "I wanted to see how I could tempt fate. Since I wasn’t able to, it seems like there is someone else who got crushed."
Davis raised his brows before laughing lightly in pride, "Haha, hopefully it isn’t the Founder. In any case, isn’t my lovely wife becoming bolder and more proficient in Karma Laws? Good, good, good!"
Evelynn’s lips curled from his blatant praise as she watched him turn around to look at Jillian Hayden.
If she were scared, she couldn’t be the first wife of the Divine Emperor of Death. She was also a cultivator who needed to be strong for the family, and she liked to emulate Davis the most. He had always been her role model ever since they were married.
Nonetheless, it seemed like he liked Jillian Hayden enough to introduce her like this since he wasn’t the type to brag to nobodies.
Evelynn returned her gaze to Jillian Hayden, "You saved yourself from me on the account of saving him from the Supreme One. You have my gratitude."
"..." Jillian Hayden trembled ever so lightly, wondering what would’ve happened if she hadn’t saved him.
She knew she would be killed because she had nearly caused the Divine Emperor of Death to suffer a fate worse than death with the Corrupted Celestial Venom Essence, so she was of the idea she couldn’t escape, but this great accumulation of merit of saving him from the Supreme One made her think she could survive.
In fact, the better option would’ve been to leave with the Supreme One when she had the chance.
"However, why did you save him?" Evelynn asked, her gaze flickering, "You clearly had the chance to leave with the Supreme One and even enjoy extreme riches without even having to become his disciple. After all, if he was willing to decimate a city for you, then he would surely recommend a sect in the Greater Realm to take you in. Surely, you understood that?"
"Mhm," Jillian Hayden nodded, "The records containing the Celestial Transcendent’s heroic deeds are plenty in my family. Most ancient families would still have some records, but my family is a fanatic since one of my ancestors was helped by him during the time we were nearly decimated. He collected many records, even if they were false, as long as they sounded good. The Supreme One is our old benefactor."
"All the more reason you should’ve relied on him then." Evelynn glared at her with suspicion.
Jillian Hayden let out a dry laugh, "It’s impossible he could remember the likes of us since he had saved too many people to count. Besides, my ancestor and he didn’t have any interaction. To the Supreme One, it was merely a good deed in passing, but to us, it was a life-saving grace, which propelled our family more to keep our original path to fighting poison with poison despite the difficulties of facing other poison cultivators who wanted us dead."
"Still, why did you save him?"
"..." Jillian Hayden went silent for a moment before clenching her fists, "The Divine Emperor of Death accidentally dealt with City Lord Kain, inevitably aiding me in preserving my dignity and keeping me safe. He didn’t get angry even though I was repeatedly cursing him. I will be the same as those monsters if I repaid gratitude with betrayal. A fiend or a saint, it doesn’t matter. As long as they help me, I’ll help them back. This is my own bottom line."
"Bottomline..."
Evelynn paused for a moment before nodding, accepting her answer.
It seemed like Jillian Hayden hadn’t completely fallen into darkness, which brought her the question.
"So? Do you want to take revenge on me for completely devastating the Hayden Family?"
Jillian Hayden’s expression shook. Her arched brows finally gained some firmness as she glared at Evelynn.
"Did you kill my father, mother, and little brother?"
"I haven’t." Evelynn shook her head.
Jillian Hayden felt strange. She didn’t feel happiness, but she nodded, "Then... we’re good... the Hayden Family is rotten and needs an internal cleansing, but external cleansing would also do at this point, so I can only say I am thankful."
"You still care about your parents?" Evelynn blinked.
Jillian Hayden didn’t know what to say. In the end, she tried to make sense of it herself before saying, "Rotten as they are, they are still my closest family. As the Divine Emperor of Death advised, I think it’s better to cut ties with them rather than kill them..."
Evelynn didn’t turn to look at Davis, but he explained through their hex link after sensing with Heart Intent.
"Involuntary subconscious aggression. There’s a high chance that if she meets her parents, she will stab them like she is possessed or something. Her subconscious demands revenge, for now at least... but she is trying to get rid of these chaotic emotions. Time will heal this quickly since they are family. She only needs to experience a few instances of happiness to suppress these emotions to death, but it would be hard to forgive them."
"Mhm, she went through hell; I don’t dare to imagine... but you are indeed a healing factor to her mentality."
"..."
"You’re the Heart Physician that we all need~" Evelynn’s voice resounded coyly as she praised him.
The way he diagnosed her mind and let her vent was amazing.
Davis was speechless, but the praise was so invigorating that he nearly wanted to push Evelynn onto the bed, but held himself back since he was still draped in the karmic identity of City Lord Kain.
However, he couldn’t dispel it since City Lord Kain would then karmically die, and then his life jade would break, and then pandemonium would erupt. However, he had already made his move and replaced the life jade with a fake life jade, but his life was also connected to his mistresses.
In essence, if City Lord Kain died, his mistresses would also die. Unlike the wives, they would be supposed to go in death with him.
Davis wanted to curse at this, but it seemed like dragging lovers and subordinates to death was a common practice in the Upper Realms and Greater Realms. After all, when one reaches a stage like the Exalt Stage and has lived for millions and billions of years with dignity and pride, the thing that they were most guarded against was betrayal.
They couldn’t be bothered about actively looking for telltale signs of betrayal since they were secluded most of the time. Instead, they chose to passively tie them to their death so they wouldn’t dare think of plotting against them. Still, it inevitably tied them down. Even if they didn’t betray, they would still go down with the leader when the leader falls, making it a tragedy.
In this regard, City Lord Kain was actually better since he didn’t drag his wives and subordinates down with him but only his mistresses. He trusted the former with his heart. It was only recently that he turned into a villain, making Davis sigh again.
Nonetheless, he really wished these three days would get over soon. Only two days were left, accurately forty-two hours. It was really testing his patience that he couldn’t hug his own women!
Davis’s expression quickly turned solemn, "Alright, are you ready to help my wife fight the poisonous mental affliction in her mind?"
Jillian Hayden smiled wryly. The important person he mentioned really turned out to be his first wife. She really admired their bravery for even being here. After all, the Celestial Transcendent was also here.
Billions of years had passed yet for someone to face such a being in battle, they still only have one outcome.
She responded, "I am. I have only heard rumors and not confirmed information, so I presume I only have to deal with the mixed bloodline of Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid and Earth Dragon, Emperor-Tier? In that case, it would be hard but doable as long as you can gather these materials. Extracting blood would not be required."
Jillian Hayden pulled out a scroll and was about to walk to the desk to write a prescription.
"No."
However, Davis’s voice made her stop.
"You would need the blood extract because her bloodline is a mixed bloodline of Emperor-Tier Evilbane Hexweaver Arachnid and a dragon we named to be Chaos Dragon. Her bloodline rank is already at the Grand Ancestral Magical Beast Rank, which corresponds to Grade Eight Bloodline or even Grade Nine Bloodline since she is at Emperor-Tier."
"..."
Jillian Hayden remained froze in her tracks.
Only after a while did she incline her head and then slowly turn to look at Davis, "I do not know what these beasts are, as they are too far from my studies, but not far from my current progress, as I can decipher their properties as long as I have their bloodsoul essence."
"My- the Hayden Family’s studies about the Evilbane Hexweaver Arachnid are less since they didn’t have the chance to encounter it or know about it, since most people who encountered it are dead, since it just banishes them to the prisons of the Asura Dimension. Other than that, very little is known about it. However, it is very similar to the Three-Eyed Hex Chromatic Arachnid in the way it sacrificed its natural webbing ability to focus on hexes. Whoa, I didn’t know these two were actually connected in the evolution tree. After all, one is a normal living lifeform, and the other is a monster from the Asura Dimension."
"Amazing, truly amazing...!"
Jillian Hayden clapped her hands, looking incredibly curious and excited, a stark difference in attitude from her previous gloomy nature.
She ran to Evelynn and said with a natural glare because of her arched brows, "I am going to need a lot of your blood extract to neutralize the mental affliction poison inside it, and also to test what the so-called Chaos Dragon Bloodline has done to it."
"..."
Davis and Evelynn looked at each other for a brief moment. The latter then returned her gaze.
"How much do you need?"
Jillian Hayden lifted her hand and raised two fingers.
"Uh, twenty- no, fifteen percent of bloodsoul essence...?"
"..." Davis and Evelynn.
