Chapter 5134: Death Shrouds The Night
Chapter 5134: Death Shrouds The Night
Davis nodded inwardly, "She has pride and dignity ingrained in her bones. Growing up in a sealed realm, she probably believed she was the best there is when it came to her peers. Even if she roamed the world, she is confident in herself and her prowess that peaks at ten levels higher after she sacrifices her bloodsoul essence, so yes, she is indeed worthy of considering herself one of the greatest supreme geniuses in the Upper Realms and has enough confidence to reach the Alpha Exalt Stage."
He really believed that fate dealt her a bad hand because of their tussles.
Otherwise, she would become a great cultivator in the future.
"When should I come?" Evelynn asked curiously.
"It isn’t necessary that you should meet her. Just send your bloodsoul essence."
"No, I still need to give her a resounding slap in order to forgive her."
Davis went speechless. His Evelynn really loved slapping, didn’t she? Even Zenova fell prey to it. It was a miracle that Zenova didn’t seek vengeance, all because she wanted to be with him no matter what. However, she was pregnant and behaving obediently for the time being, so it was unknown what she would do after giving birth.
Evelynn was also unwilling to back down.
He was caught between them, but he had no problem with punishing them both if they went too far with their rivalry. Mingzhi also said they acknowledged each other despite their altercation, so he didn’t think he should worry about it much.
"Alright, fine... fine... do as you wish. Don’t blame me if she refuses to cure you after that. If no one’s watching our mansion, you can come through the underground passage with the help of Head Gua- Hmm?"
"What’s going on?"
Evelynn noticed Davis’s pause sounded grave. She quickly focused more on her link but saw that the entire chamber had sunk into darkness, causing her heart to sink along with it.
She quickly stood up, preparing to move as she walked out of her room on the upper floor and started gathering the others, ready to move at a moment’s notice.
City Lord Davis abruptly moved when a dagger penetrated the spot he was in. It was aimed right at the head, its edges coated in poison.
With a flip, City Lord Davis touched Jillian Hayden’s shoulder, wanting to pull her into his life ring, but she had already put up her guard and was severely resisting, so he made a split-second decision and threw her up as he somersaulted with her.
"Ah~"
But instead of slamming her to the ground, he made her land and stand behind him while his gaze was focused toward the bed.
Jillian Hayden shuddered as she knew they were suddenly under attack by some unknown forces. However, she felt fear overwhelming her, so all she could do was resist with whatever she had left. The atmosphere felt cold, and the air she breathed felt like smog choking her.
It had the effect of blocking her meridian pathways, making her quickly understand that this wasn’t a fight she could participate in.
This was a battle between Exalts!
However, inside the darkness, she could feel many presences, each one causing her to shiver like she was in a frozen tundra.
It wasn’t just one assassin but many!
"Woah, the defensive formation in this palace is really trashy..."
Davis commented with a smirk as he saw a black-robed man stand up with a dagger in his hand.
Faced with many Exalts and Primarchs at the High Stage and even Peak Stage, he even had the leisure to mock and even stitch his karmic thread to Jillian Hayden so that she doesn’t get scared in this deathly domain from being unable to recognize him.
He instantly saw that the darkness inside the chamber had thickened to an unbelievable degree.
It wasn’t ordinary darkness but a death domain, right after they talked about it.
He felt flabbergasted as he watched death energy drift through the room like black mist, clinging to the furniture, walls, and ceiling. Every breath carried the air of death, feeling so hostile while suppressing vitality and weakening the flow of energy.
The black-robed figure lowered his dagger, appearing to be in no hurry.
"City Lord Kain, meet your end."
His hoarse voice echoed throughout the chamber, causing Jillian Hayden’s face to pale.
However, Davis narrowed his eyes in derision. Raising his hand, his lips slowly curled upwards as his eyes gleamed.
"I was waiting for you to show up after the incident in the Sixth Bastion City. Hand it over to me."
"...?"
The black-robed figure frowned. However, before he could even process the meaning behind those words, the white stone hidden within his sleeves suddenly trembled violently.
*Bzzz!~*
The treasure shook like a living creature, its pale, jagged surface emitting a faint gray radiance.
The black-robed figure’s expression changed, "What!?"
Before he could even realize what was going on, the white stone abruptly lunged towards the City Lord, causing his heart to nearly stop. He immediately grabbed the treasure with both hands, death energy erupting from his body. Ghostly runes appeared across his palms, and his bloodsoul essence surged without reservation in an attempt to stop this strange phenomenon.
However, the force behind it was so absurd that the treasure practically carried him forward.
He jumped back and desperately held onto it, using every ounce of his strength.
"Break for me!" The divine light in his eyes shone as he seemed to activate his Godskull.
The surrounding assassins failed to move as they stared with bewilderment. The white stone that suppressed them practically made them stop in their tracks in this strange tussle.
Davis was momentarily taken aback by the unexpected resistance, but his smile returned as an evil grin flashed across his eyes.
He flicked his finger, causing a karmic thread to shoot forward and attach itself to the white stone. It was invisible, silent, and unavoidable, but the black-robed man seemed to notice it as he gazed at the City Lord with shock.
"Come to papa."
The moment the connection was established, Davis beckoned.
*Boom!~*
The white stone erupted with a brilliant gray light, causing a soul-rending sound to echo throughout the death domain. As a result, a figure was sent flying as the bloodsoul connection between the black-robed figure and the white stone shattered instantly without much resistance.
"Pffft!"
He spat out a mouthful of dark blood that didn’t seem to belong to a healthy human.
He crashed onto the other side of the bed as his body shook, the backlash striking him with overwhelming force and the death energy around him becoming chaotic.
His corporeal body rapidly lost stability, becoming nearly spectral, and the concealed features of his face naturally became undone.
This entire exchange- if Rokushi Mirai had been here, she would’ve felt an extreme sense of deja vu. Only she knew the despair of being stripped of a replica of the Tablet of Life and Death like it was nothing.
Davis held the white stone in his hand, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
He could sense this white stone and the black-white stone inside him buzzing like they were going to crash and fuse. As much as he wanted that to happen, he couldn’t let it happen lest it attract some danger. At the same time, the white stone instantly allowed him to know why these ghosts and corpses were here, as he could feel it through experience of awakening ghosts himself.
Death Domain- an ability of this replica.
"You’re all mine now. Come back into this."
Davis raised his hand and held the white stone above, causing the dozens of ghosts on the cabinets, beams, and shadows to all stare disbelievingly before they simply disappeared like they were a poltergeist phenomenon.
He chuckled as he released the Death Domain before it could attract more attention.
The deathly mist disappeared almost instantly as though it were cleared by an equally opposite energy brushing over them.
Davis was intrigued. He then brazenly walked around the bed as though he was carefree while keeping his guard up. When he came around and saw the black-robed figure, his lips curled.
"You also seem to be a ghost. That means I can control you- ehhh? Master Deathseeker!?"
Davis was given a fright as he saw the ghost look incredibly familiar to his master. Even the eyes now had deathly vortexes, wanting to attack him, but the other party was also stunned as he heard the City Lord call him master.
