Chapter 4754 Reaching The Summit
Chapter 4754 Reaching The Summit
Davis shook his head.
Calamities were prevented from entering the peak by the barrier. However, it seems like it didn't pick up the Eternal Eclipse Bird in the Temporal Voidplane Ring. He supposed it was because the Eternal Eclipse Bird could be considered already dead; undead. As long as it wasn't moving by its own Will, it shouldn't be detected.
"Then where is it?" She eagerly asked, wanting to play, but then she realized she couldn't go out of the mountain, and Calamities couldn't get inside, making her sigh.
"Forget it. I'll meet it later when I am able to go out. For now, you need to leave. I'll join you all after I reach the peak of the Exalt Stage."
"…" Davis wryly smiled.
It was unknown if her grandfather would even let her go. If he were her grandfather, he would also give a lot of candies to her and make her stay in the mountain while allowing her to maintain a hopeful attitude so she can grow. Similarly, he would also keep many secrets from her- like killing her benefactor secretly.
How can a little girl compare to an old fox?
"No, I need to go up. Let me meet your grandfather. It's time for adults to speak."
"Ah, I'm also an adult…!" Rioxys Plume complained, glaring at him before she rose to the air, taking him above.
"Are you sure you want to see grandfather? You could die in many ways than one. An Archon can't be looked at with naked eyes by an Immortal Emperor. Your soul can't bear the cost of laying your eyes on a true deity unless they allow it, and my grandfather is a solemn person. He wouldn't bother to retract his divinity just so you are going to meet him." Rioxys Plume warned.
"It's fine. I won't directly look at him. I'll keep my head down." Davis chuckled.
He couldn't leave without getting explicit permission anyway, so he might as well gamble on meeting with them.
They rose up faster now that Rioxys Plume obtained Davis's wish to go up.
Flight was actually banned here, or rather, only Exalt Stage experts could fly against the weight of the protective formation.
As they rose through the peak, Davis firmly held the jade container as he looked around, his expression taken aback by the lovely landscape. The mountain was not only rich in different kinds of elemental heaven and earth energy, but it was euphoric to look at, especially the waterfalls drizzling and cascading down the second coiling path.
The light reflected from the waterfalls made it appear like crystalline lakes. Moreover, the elemental energies differed, forming lakes of light, lakes of darkness, lakes of fire, lakes of metallic essence, all looked after by spirit tribes of vast strength. These essences were so clear and devoid of berserk properties that they could remove the negative thoughts in one's life.
As they went up, the third coiling path was also with its own wonders, not to mention the fourth and fifth coiling peaks.
However, Rioxys Plume's speed was so extreme that he could barely see the wonders of these levels. Dense air entered his mouth, making him look stupid. Before he could realize, he had broken through the layers of clouds.
*Rumble!~*
Lightning dragons and kirins slithered around, their gazes locked onto them. Cloud sheep and deer jumped around, making funny sounds. Cloudy spirits were tending to the clouds, and these manifestations of energy, which were called minor spirits.
"Rioxys, be careful~ These dragons aren't tame."
"I know~"
A cute voice full of warning echoed.
Rioxys Plume echoed with a giggle. She didn't care and still ascended with great speed, weaving through the minor spirits with ease. Soon, she broke through multiple layers of clouds and eventually broke through the topmost layer, arriving above the clouds.
Davis barely managed to open his eyes, but before that, he could feel the immense warmth of the sunbeams hitting his face. It didn't feel bad. Instead, it felt refreshing as though he had just had a good sleep and woke up to bask in the morning rays of the sun, filling him with joy.
But the moment he opened his eyes, his heart lodged itself in his throat.
A colossal dragon filled his vision.
What he first thought to be a floating island or a drifting mountain ridge was, in truth, a sleeping dragon's head. Its jaw rested upon a bed of sun-warmed clouds. They were no larger than dust motes when compared to their massive size. Its serpentine body coiled around the mountain like an ancient river of scales, each scale glimmering with a faint cyan light.
Its body was so long that its serpentine body extended past the mountain and rested on the clouds and even wrapped around other floating islands as though keeping them in place before they could drift off.
"That's the Guardian Beast of the Lower Mountain, second only to the Elders as it's at the very peak of the Exalt Stage. Magical Soul Beast, Thousand Scale Soul Dragon." Rioxys Plume subconsciously whispered to Davis.
"…" Davis was thoroughly gobsmacked, having seen a magical beast of this size for the first time.
The peak of the mountain was already small, but even with the reduction in size, he suspected it was more than a hundred kilometers long, nearly endless to his vision.
He sucked in a cold breath filled with heaven and earth energy that even aided the growth of his soul force.
"That's the first time I'm seeing a magical beast here… excluding the outsiders, of course…" Davis exclaimed softly.
Rioxys Plume also nodded, having seen one for the first time, "I'm not sure, but Magical Soul Beasts are allowed in this world, it seems. However, they are so rare that they are eaten at first sight. Those who have grown to this level are extremely rare. But I did hear that there is another part of the Shard Continent where there is a land full of Magical Soul Beasts…"
"Incredible…" The urge to explore nearly overtook Davis, but he suppressed himself and turned to look at the peak.
There were four prominent islands above the peak, and one of them was clearly more imposing and majestic than the others.
Suddenly, a soft tremor ran through Davis's soul.
He turned to look, and without warning, the Thousand Scale Soul Dragon's eyelids, which were thicker than terrifying big gates, shifted. A slit of divine brilliance parted, nearly making Davis believe his soul had collapsed.
However, a pair of deep abyssal blue eyes came into his view, swirling with an immense nebula of soul energy.
Its solitary gaze locked onto Davis.
The air froze, and his heartbeat stopped. Even his thoughts paused for a breathless instant, as if the dragon's eye had reached directly into the core of his being and pinned him to space.
Yet, it did nothing. It didn't roar or radiate killing intent.
It just simply looked at him and closed its eyes back as though its sleep was merely disturbed for a moment.
"…" Rioxys Plume shook, "That's one scary dragon…"
Davis also wryly smiled. He had prepared himself when he came here to be powerless, but the feeling of it was quite hopeless and amusing. He didn't even know what he could do when he would gain the audience of her grandfather or that he would even allowed entry.
If not, he could just leave and try his chances at walking off the mountain and survive, which seemed painfully unlikely to him. He wasn't attacked because he was inside the mountain. Utmost, he guessed he would be arrested and imprisoned or thrown out to feed the Calamities.
Rioxys Plume unceremoniously grabbed his hand and brought him to the main peak. At that moment, Davis could sense numerous senses fall on him, each stronger than the last.
