Chapter 4687 The Mountain-Sea Painting Shard Region
"…"
It took a few minutes for Davis and Myria to calm down while Rioxys Plume explained the location of Bylai and the others.
Does this mean that their family had yet again gained an Exalt-level powerhouse?
It wasn't just Illumina who was an Exalt in the Davis Family anymore? Such a thought made them feel exhilarated, but at the same time, they wondered if it was even possible to bring this spirit back.
After all, if spirits in this Shard World could invade the True Immortal World, they would've already done it.
However, Davis and the others knew that the aboriginal spirits who were captured were brought back to the True Immortal World by slave traders and many powers.
There was a complicated mechanic at work here, so they didn't know if it was even possible for them to bring back an Exalt Spirit. Regardless, they looked forward to it positively. Whatever help they could get, they needed to grasp it or see themselves burned to death.
"Little spirit," Davis chuckled, "I've heard about you a bit. What do you think about us? Do you want to come back with us to see a wider world?"
"…"
Rioxys Plume blinked. Her gaze landed on the cursed artifact in his hand that was emitting an ominous aura.
Myria elbowed Davis's arm, but he didn't put it back inside. Instead, he raised his hand and displayed it.
"Don't worry about it. I'm not affected by it, and I like to think I have partial control over it. Surely, you have heard about my feats from my sweet wives, no?"
Rioxys Plume remained silent for a few moments before she nodded, "Yes, they have told me numerous times about you, saying that you're benevolent, kind yet overpowering. I can see why. Taming a calamitous lifeform isn't simple, and about that object, I don't know what it is, but I absolutely don't want to be near it."
"I understand." Only then did Davis keep it back inside.
He approached her, trying to close the distance.
Rioxys Plume's foggy white eyes glimmered. Her body quivered ever so lightly as though she wanted to retreat, but she kept a firm stand.
No matter how extraordinary a human was, why would she need to fear an Immortal Emperor?
Davis arrived before her and wordlessly raised his hand. He patted the side of her arm, brushing against her midnight feathers.
"Good work guarding for us here. You have my sincere thanks."
Rioxys Plume nodded as though he didn't need to be thanked for it. Then, her brows frowned as though she remembered something, "I'm not little."
'I doubt you have even lived for twenty years.' Davis wryly smiled, but he didn't argue, nodding his head.
According to their letters, Rioxys Plume had been a little spirit like Calypsea. But unlike Calypsea, who was a pure spirit born from heaven and earth, Rioxys Plume was a spirit born from a father and mother spirit, so she wouldn't grow into an adult unless she reached a particular age.
Davis imagined Rioxys Plume turned into an adult last year or the year before.
This made him connect her to Lereza, who was also the progeny of a magical beast and a spirit. She didn't grow up because of her cultivation stage, but had reached adulthood when she rose to a certain age. Still, that didn't mean that Lereza would not grow automatically after reaching a certain cultivation stage since she was a half-beast.
As a half beast and a half Celestial Spirit, Lereza did not lack the ability to enter the Exalt Stage. She was just waiting to ascend, engulf enough resources, and become one.
Davis gazed at Rioxys Plume's cultivation speed and remembered about her unclear origins, that her father was a Plummeting Midnight Sky Rover, and her mother was a spirit of unknown origins. Looking at powerful and dark tentacles and imagining the prowess the absolute prowess she displayed before, Davis believed that her mother should be a darkness-attributed Celestial Spirit.
'Wait… if Lereza enters the Exalt Stage, should I call her an Exalt Beast or an Exalt Spirit…?'
Davis's mind wandered off before he forcefully nodded at Rioxys Plume.
"Alright, we'll do everything in our power to bring you back to our place."
Rioxys Plume's lips curled behind her darkness veil, "I'm looking forward to it, Master Davis."
Davis arguably wanted to ask if they told him to call him that, but he refrained.
He gestured towards Myria, and both of them descended. However, before he could reach the entrance, and waved his hand.
"Take care of the Eternal Eclipse Bird for me, will you? I've commanded it to protect you and listen to you. You can use it as a mount if you want."
"…" Rioxys Plume was about to reject, thinking she had no need for protection because she hadn't met a single opponent yet, but suddenly, the feeling of wanting to ride on a calamity overtook her. They even shared the same attribute, so she couldn't help but nod.
Davis chuckled before he caught up to Myria.
The spatial vortex was nestled against the honeycomb-like structure, which was embedded amidst a lair at the edge of a forest. From this point forth, the terrain changed into a frightening forest with densely populated trees that grew up to hundreds and thousands of kilometers tall.
Fortunately, they didn't need to go past this area.
Davis and Myria stepped into the spatial vortex and emerged on the other side. Their senses were instantly assaulted by an overwhelming surge of elemental energy.
The sky above was painted in surreal hues, verdant green clouds floated amidst streaks of azure mist, while mountains of various shapes and colors rose and fell like the brushstrokes of a divine painter. Below, colossal waterfalls cascaded from floating peaks into boundless lakes that shimmered with crystalline light, forming rivers that meandered into forests glowing faintly with luminescent pollen of different shades.
"This is…" Davis narrowed his eyes as his soul sense extended as he took in the sight, "...a natural masterpiece."
Myria's expression softened. The reflection of an ethereal ocean could be seen in her beautiful eyes as she surveyed the breathtaking scenery, "It's as though someone painted the essence of the five elements into reality, but only three dared to remain harmonious."
Indeed, though the atmosphere carried the calming serenity of nature, an undertone of chaos lurked beneath it. Trees occasionally bent unnaturally, their trunks contorting as if responding to some unseen rhythm. A mountain in the distance trembled slightly, releasing fragments of earthen light that floated into the air before solidifying into shards, shards that hummed with the resonance of laws before exploding.
"The Mountain-Sea Painting…" Davis murmured, finally understanding why it was named in such a way.
One could even want to make their home here and live if it weren't for the dangers here.
