Chapter 4643: A Small Thread
Chapter 4643: A Small Thread
Davis gazed at the unique item, a treasure forged from the Thread Essence of Karma that was said to have disappeared long ago. The First Haven World’s World Master indicated that Fallen Heaven could be the fusion of the Thread Essence of Karma and the Tablet of Life and Death.
As for why it happened or if it was even true, she refused to elaborate.
Davis could only accept the information at face value, and building upon it, he had some theories the moment he laid eyes on the black-white stone. Now, by finding the broken spindle and Fallen Heaven’s words of being able to restore it, he now believed that Fallen Heaven was truly the fusion of the Thread Essence of Karma and Tablet of Life and Death.
Nonetheless, he didn’t keep staring at it and raised his head, looking at the dragon-kirin auction host.
"Congratulations, Divine Emperor of Death. I really didn’t expect you to have so many resources."
Davis’s lips curled in response, "I also didn’t expect this auction to have an item of this caliber. The seller must be quite powerful for you all not to directly steal this treasure. Let me guess, is it the same person who sold the cursed artifact?"
"Haha, I’m not aware. I’m just a stupid magical beast in charge of selling the items..." The dragon-kirin laughed self-deprecatingly.
"Which human power are you from? What’s your name?"
Davis asked.
The dragon-kirin pursed his lips, wondering how the other party was able to tell.
Davis smiled lightly, "No magical beast or spirit talks like that, nor are they enthusiastic enough to sell resources like you did, much less do it in a self-deprecating tone. That’s mostly unique to humans. You must have been adopted by a human power since you are a mixed-blood, no?"
"That’s right." The dragon-kirin laughed, "My power is not worth mentioning since there are only six people. My name is Kijinauu. I am indeed a mixed blood, a wretched magical beast who inherited the prideful blood of the Five-Clawed Imperial Dragon and the honorable blood of the Celestial Tempest Kirin. Neither of them will accept me since I’m disgusting in their eyes."
Davis closed the jade container and gave it to Tia, "I’d love to have your blood essence. It isn’t disgusting at all."
"It’s my honor, but I’d like to keep my life instead."
Kijinauu made a bow with his palm pressed against his fist.
Davis nodded, "Does the auction have anything interesting in the next few days? I don’t like wasting my time."
"There are a few things like Quintessence Orbs and a few more Inheritance Rings, but I doubt they’ll catch your attention since they are of lower grades."
"I see."
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave."
The dragon-kirin bowed again and left, his footsteps hurrying as though he were escaping a calamity.
Davis watched him leave before their door closed.
He didn’t believe that there were interesting things in the auction since the four hosts and others might’ve realized that he would just buy everything valuable. As supreme geniuses, they would become laughing stocks if they let a Divergent take everything away using money.
But Davis smirked since he knew if the galaxies united, he really could not have bought the treasure.
This was a point that he could take advantage of. If his family’s survival became an exclamatory question mark, he was even willing to make galaxies fight against each other through deception. This wasn’t something difficult for him. The only thing blocking him was his morality and his preference for the human race to survive.
Regardless, he wanted to leave this place and reconstruct the new replica.
After the doors closed, Shirley and Isabella hurriedly checked the item.
It really was a broken spindle. They checked it with their soul sense, but they couldn’t find anything peculiar about it. How was this a great treasure? Other than its grade, there was not a single hint of strangeness about it. But with its physical body alone, it might be able to stab someone and cause heavy bleeding.
"Give it to me." Tia giggled.
Shirley gave it to Tia without a word as she expectantly looked at it.
Tia pursed her lips. She held the two broken parts of the spindle in her hand. One was the shaft, and the other was the whorl and the hook.
She placed the shaft aside and focused her gaze on the whorl. She held it upside down and let it float like a drop spindle. As her energy surged, the broken whorl began to spin.
A thread slowly emerged while it spun, wrapping around below the whorl. It continuously wound around it before it quickly came to an end.
At this point, Tia’s face was pale.
She used a lot of energy and had sacrificed a bit of her soul essence to generate this thread, the length of a forearm. It was extremely thin, not much when compared to what a spindle would have on it. However, the thread seemed to contain the mysteries of karma, causing their eyes to widen in shock.
"This... it still works...?" Shirley was taken aback.
"I doubt that." Tia heaved a breath and shook her head, "I don’t want to use the treasure itself, but the thread. That’s what I want."
"How did you know it would generate threads?"
"Because I saw it in a dream." Tia acted mysterious, "I received a dream revelation indicating that if I wrap these threads around my physique, the backlash of my divinations could be fully mitigated to the capacity of the threads~"
"Woah... that’s cool- I mean, frightening..." Shirley didn’t know what to say. She was both intrigued and a little scared by Tia’s answer since she wasn’t exactly a stranger to the horrors of divination. She had heard plenty of horror stories from failed divinations.
"Could these threads be generated only with your strange Karmic Guardian Physique?" Isabella asked curiously.
"I guess so." Tia nodded, "Otherwise, they would’ve seen through this treasure, and it might not have even come up for sale. If it weren’t for my physique reverberating with it, I might not have noticed its uniqueness."
"Tia, give that thread to me."
Davis reached out with his hand. Tia hesitated for a moment, wondering what he was planning to do with it. She narrowed her eyes, warning him.
"These threads are dangerous. I simply thought of using them as a form of shield, so don’t use them to change an aspect, no matter what it may be."
"I’m just checking..."
Davis wanted to complain, but his voice was low. He knew Tia had begun suspecting that he could long use karma to a terrifying level even without having a karmic physique. That went against the natural law of the world and even special exceptions, only aggravating her fear of a mishap happening. After all, she was still worried about the calamitous divination she received about their union.
Tia nodded and handed it over.
However, Davis merely plucked a bit of the thread and didn’t take the rest.
He held it in his hand, feeling the karmic aura emanating from it. It was a colorless thread, but scarlet undulations kept reverberating from it on a microscopic level, making it look scarlet.
As he held it in his hand, he used Fallen Heaven to establish a minimal connection and investigate.
The corresponding information entered his mind.
"Scarlet Destiny Spindle..." Davis muttered as he saw strange scenes in his vision.
He quickly stopped and closed his karmic vision since those invisible monsters appeared in his eyesight again. Even inside a room, they were present. They were present everywhere.
