Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4538: Lambert Mistwalker's True Power

Chapter 4538: Lambert Mistwalker’s True Power

“Why not?” Davis raised his brows, “I allowed your power to buy you back instead of killing you. Won’t you grant me the same chance?”

Lambert Mistwalker’s pupils constricted. His fists clenched unknowingly to his awareness, and his smile faded. He could feel the awkward gazes of his peers.

Even he knew this was the only shade in his life that everyone used to make fun of. Otherwise, he was a pristine and flawless supreme genius of the Mistwalker Family.

“I finally understand.” He spoke, his gaze cold and his voice fully calmed.

“You’re either outright stupid or trying to act good in order to integrate into our human race and finally show your true colors. There has never been an Anarchic Divergent who feigns while still being strong. I can understand why the Venerable Knights can never defeat you. But-!”

“I’m not like that.” He waved his hand, his tone full of conviction, “I, Lambert Mistwalker, will make sure to end you once and for all. Once I’m done with you, I will teach that traitor Lest a lesson by destroying his beloved formation that is guarding your realms. Then we’ll know who the true formation expert is- the true protagonist of this era.”

“Fuck you! I’m the true protagonist of this era!”

Rath Heavenshade roared.

Lambert Mistwalker didn’t even turn to look at him, “First, defeat Riaz Heavenshade and then we’ll talk about whether you’re trash or an outright villain of the human race. We are recording this scene, and when we get out, we’ll make sure to hang you publicly for becoming a traitor to the entire universe for siding with an Anarchic Divergent.”

“Bullshit! We’re traversing in different ships, but we happened to meet in between and are moving side by side. There’s no rule stating that one has to run upon seeing the Divine Emperor of Death. He also didn’t attack us.”

“Yeah, as if anyone would believe that when you previously let the Divine Emperor of Death leave by being a selfish person who was full of himself, thinking his fist would rule the world.”

“You-”

Rath Heavenshade’s heart churned. That was the only decision that cost him a lot, but he didn’t regret it. Still, to openly state it and make a mockery of him, he was incensed.

“…” Meanwhile, Davis’s jaws dropped.

These two were totally treating him as though he was going to die sooner or later.

It seems that they more or less thought that he was going to die upon entering the Upper Realms, while they had a far brighter future ahead.

“Oh yeah? Record this- you’re going to get absolutely destroyed by Davis right now!”

Abruptly, Ralaza Heavenshade pointed at Lest Mistwalker.

The entirety of the Davis Family turned to look at her, their brows raising.

Rath Heavenshade quickly jumped to push his little sister’s hand back, his gaze warning her. They could still feign ignorance after all was said and done, but if she was publicly supporting the Divine Emperor of Death, then she would be punished badly at the very least. Then her freedom will no longer be in her hands.

“You’re calling him by his first name? Did you already sleep with him?” Lambert Mistwalker’s expression turned amused, a jeer escaping from his mouth, “Heh, I should’ve known the women of the Heavenshade Clan are sluts.”

“Bastard, if we are sluts, then your mother is a slut who slept with the entirety of my family’s elders!”

“You dare!?”

Ralaza Heavenshade roared, and Lambert Mistwalker also turned furious.

“Pfft, hahaha!” Davis couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

If he found Ralaza Heavenshade’s mouth to be somewhat annoying at times, then it was extremely pleasant right now. Her mouth truly had no blockades, and she didn’t take insults lightly. This flavor extended to all. He could even imagine her insulting her own elders without regard for hierarchy.

He shook his head, thinking Rath Heavenshade protected her all this time and suffered greatly for it.

Lambert Mistwalker was awakened out of his reverie by that laughter.

He frowned. He wasn’t stupid. Although he knew the Divine Emperor of Death was extremely strong, there was no better opportunity than this moment to eliminate him. However, this situation at best was just a stalemate unless the Divine Emperor of Death started attacking the formation and increasing the strength of the formation through the resonance.

He harrumphed, “Do you want to know why you could never brute force this formation!? It’s because the core is made of a High-Level Primarch Grade resource we have collected here. This formation is only possible in this region, in this environment, and in this situation where you have carelessly entered into our entrapment formation; the only result awaiting you is death. Even if you can revive, you’ll die continuously until you are weakened enough for us to seal you by ourselves.”

Lambert Mistwalker smirked after he delivered what he had prepared, “Now that you know, do you feel despair? If you beg, then perhaps I might consider sparing your family.”

“Begging is too much,” Davis frowned, “But if you can spare my family, I promise to give you fifteen Primarch Grade resources.”

“Get on your knees and beg. There’s no other way.”

Lambert Mistwalker cackled coldly, believing he had the Divine Emperor of Death by the neck.

After all, even if he could protect himself, he seemed to have brought his family, who may not be as strong as him. They would not be able to survive.

Moreover, if he could make the Divine Emperor of Death kneel and spread the projection to the world, then his renown would shoot up to the heavens, resounding for all the races to hear. Which supreme genius didn’t want that kind of recognition?

He could already see it happening.

“Lambert…” Layla Mistwalker sent him a soul transmission.

“I know. Who would spare them? Watch out for that fallen Saintess. She is the only one capable of unraveling our formations. As long as we don’t give her time, they should all die in about nine hundred or a thousand strikes. Nine hundred and eighty-two left to go- eighty-one.”

*Booom!~*

Another lightning strike fell on Davis. Its prowess was at High-Level Empyrean Grade, near the Level Six Autarch Stage already. It was an extremely powerful formation. However, with Davis not attacking it, it wasn’t increasing its strength as fast as he initially measured, but the feedback from their defense was still resonating, slowly increasing the strength of the formation.

“So I take it that we could not negotiate?” Davis trembled, his expression sinking.

“Who would negotiate with a fiend like you? Evil scourge.”

Lambert Mistwalker spoke with utter disdain, his expression full of mocking. He suddenly saw the Divine Emperor of Death’s expression change into anger, and he burst forward, intending to punch.

‘Yes, attack the formation, fool!’

Lambert Mistwalker couldn’t be anymore happier. The hardest part of this conversation was provoking the Divine Emperor of Death, and he felt like he had succeeded in it. He knew the Divine Emperor of Death’s punch could potentially reach the Level Nine Autarch Stage. Therefore, even a single powerful punch should decrease the number of times the formation needs to strike greatly, leaving no leeway for any other situation to occur.

With a dash to the skies, Davis arrived before the dome barrier.

He punched out, causing the heaven and earth around him to reverberate. The resonance had already begun even before the force of the punch left his fist. However, he suddenly opened his fist into a palm and grabbed the barrier. His hand, layered with silvery-gray chaotic energy and crimson destructive energy, caught the barrier like it was some piece of paper before he rapidly tore it.

*Ripp~*

The runes holding the barrier together over that part crumbled as though they were nothing but a piece of paper. They could no longer hold together.

*Whoosh~*

Lambert Mistwalker barely managed to register what had happened when the silhouette of the Divine Emperor of Death disappeared, and he felt a hand firmly holding his shoulder. He reacted by flinching, but his body didn’t even move an inch, remaining embedded in space as spatial rings appeared over his legs.

“No matter how powerful the core of the formation is, you can only generate runes at Mid-Level Autarch Grade at best with your prowess since you don’t have the knowledge and expertise to create Primarch Grade Runes yet. The current runes can withstand most Laws with ease by borrowing the power of the core of the formation, but they can never withstand something that breaks the heaven and earth, tears space into oblivion. Do you understand? Nod once if you want to survive.”

“…” Lambert Mistwalker trembled.

He nodded. However, his neck didn’t move, and his chin didn’t lower. Instantly, he found out the movement of his head was sealed by some invisible force.

‘No…! I’ll nod…! I’m nodding!’

He tried to scream out, but couldn’t.

“Good. You’re a brave yet retarded warrior who sacrificed himself for the greater good of the world.”

Davis took his hand off his shoulder and waved lightly. His knuckles and fingers smashed through Lambert Mistwalker’s head, causing blood to spurt like an exploding watermelon.

Without batting a single eyelid, Davis unceremoniously collected his soul essence and wiped the blood over Lambert Mistwalker’s robe and turned to look at Layla Mistwalker, who appeared to be frozen.

But in truth, his soul force had already encompassed the entirety of the space, freezing everything in the air. Even the howling winds had disappeared and the storm clouds close by had stopped rumbling.

Above the crumbling formation that could no longer sustain itself, he calmly walked to Layla Mistwalker and reached out his hand, grabbing her frail neck.

“Tell me, how do you want to die?”
