Chapter 2776 Playing The Game
Chapter 2776 Playing The Game
"What is the meaning of this? Did you all not hear what I said?"
The Starlight Jade Wolf King narrowed his eyes at the Patriarchs of the other powers who gathered around him, looking almost ready to snatch Mo Tian away from him.
"We definitely heard you, but who said that you're the only one willing to protect him?" The Bloodcloud Family Patriarch appeared amused.
"I certainly didn't see you people willing to volunteer before. Are you sure that you're after his cultivation manual and not his safety?"
"Aren't you the same?"
"Haha." The Starlight Jade Wolf King laughed as he patted Mo Tian's shoulders again, "I can declare right now that I have no use for such a thing. All I want is to make bonds that would flourish naturally. Do good unto others, and they will do good unto you. Those are the teaching of my predecessor."
"Pfft." The Cyan Soul Rat Patriarch suddenly burst out laughing but tried to suppress it, "No wonder the Starlight Jade Clan faces a steep decline."
"Hehe." The Goldlust Rat Clan's Patriarch grinned, "It's also called gambling."
"Or he's just naive."
"Do I look naive to you all? That's good as well."
Despite the Cyan Soul Rat Patriarch speaking mockingly, the Starlight Jade Wolf King merely smiled, appearing completely composed. His answer caused a few frowns to emerge on the leaders.
However, there was one among them who appeared to have an advantage.
"Patriarchs, I appreciate the concern we're showing for the suspected Anarchic Divergent, but the alliance is far more worth it, even for you, the Starlight Jade Wolf King. Otherwise, you will be vulnerable."
"Well said, Zyrus Family Patriarch speak words of wisdom." The Cyan Soul Rat Clan's Patriarch heavily nodded, "You gave us some time to think about it, but the emergence of the assassins right into one of our palaces clearly tells us how vulnerable we are."
"If we allow people to trample on us a single time, then it would not bore well for the future. We must act like the Aurora Cloud Gate that almost decimated the Godwin Family, swiftly and intently, one that rests on the utmost safety of our people."
Hearing his words, everyone became slightly moved.
Even the Starlight Jade Wolf King frowned as he knew the consequences of his actions. However, seeing the members of this alliance, he couldn't derive any confidence that this alliance would be able to be together. Not only did their viewpoints don't match, but there was far too much bitterness and concealed enmity resting within each of them, perhaps, except one person.
"Blazing Thunder Sect's Founder, what do you think?"
The Starlight Jade Wolf King personally asked her, imagining that she would be able to see things better from an outsider's perspective as she had just awoken from millions of years of sleep. Moreover, he was also impressed with her actions to quickly subdue the little assassins that didn't need them to personally make a move.
The Blazing Thunder Sect's Founder still didn't turn to look at the Starlight Jade Wolf King. Instead, she had her head lowered, appearing to be in deep contemplation for a few seconds before she finally raised her head, moving her cheery lips.
"Personally, I would like to exterminate any risks that threaten my power, whether it be an alliance or a Divergent."
"Zyrus Family Patriarch," She turned towards the Zyrus Family, "Has my power offended you in the past?"
pAn,D a-ᴏᴠ 1 "No. Although the disciples of the Blazing Thunder Sect are rude and callous in their actions, that's because they have the power to warrant such behavior. Other than that, I believe we don't have much to take offense for."
The Zyrus Family Patriarch explained, causing the Blazing Thunder Sect's Founder to nod her head.
"Then I would like to make my decision after the battle of the younger generation. After all, I'd like to know where my juniors stand amongst the titans."
"Haha. We're a bit away from being titans, but I thank the Blazing Thunder Sect's Founder for the praise."
His smiling expression receded as he turned to look at Davis.
"As for you, I believe that we should decide what we should do with you after we form the alliance. Until then, Starlight Jade Wolf King, I'm afraid that you can't take him away."
"You think I'm scared?" The Starlight Jade Wolf King sneered, "Since you're so adamant on making Mo Tian come under the jurisdiction of the alliance that hasn't even formed, fine. I'll participate in this nonsense and become the alliance leader. The battle of the younger generation is to decide that, no?"
The Zyrus Family Patriarch's gaze flickered.
"Indeed. The Starlight Jade Wolf King is rather astute than I thought. The number of votes one will hold in this alliance for the next hundred years will be decided by the younger generation's battle, and to be fair, the power with the highest votes will naturally become the alliance leader who has the ability to interfere and command what happens in the alliance's territory without affecting much of an individual power's sovereignty. For example, one can control and collect toll in trade routes of every power present in the alliance, enjoying a lot privileges and other kinds of experiences."
"That's loose but still a good start."
The Bloodcloud Family lightly nodded his head while the others, like the Golden Crow Clan, Obsidian Turtle Clan, and spirit tribes, also came to a similar conclusion.
Seeing that no one had any objections even after waiting a few dozen seconds, the Zyrus Family Patriarch finally nodded.

"Then it's decided."
He brought up a Blood Soul Contract that was in the form of a big scroll, having a few clauses that stated that once they decided to participate in the young generation battle, then they could not revoke their words of wanting to join the alliance.
This effectively sealed them off from saying that they didn't want in on the off-chance they failed to gain any real power, in other words, votes, in the alliance and essentially placed them in a position of a vassal power.
Usually, a discussion or an event of this level would require each of their Ancestors to be present, but for some reason, it could be sensed that no authority of that sort interfered with the decisions of the young ones today, making it rather easier for everyone to accept the conditions as even though the risks were higher, the stakes were the same.
With everything being settled with a bit of roughness, they walked down the platform and let the younger generation take on the stage, each of them appearing confident in their own right.
