Chapter 2556 Before The Bridal Chamber
Chapter 2556 Before The Bridal Chamber
Seeing Shirley remain silent, Davis lightly smiled and rubbed her head.
"You did well not to reveal everything to them. You make me proud, Shirley."
"Of course." Shirley took his hand and kept them on her gorgeous cheek, "I'll always listen to you. Even if you were wrong, I'd stay silent until I make you understand you were wrong before divulging anything of concern."
"That's sensible. As expected of the woman I was forced to give a second look and accept my mistake."
"Excuse me, but it's now almost time for you to make love with other women."
"Aha~ If you're feeling jealous, then I'll make some extra time for you, as I'm going to go wild after this!"
Davis gave a dry laugh while Shirley just giggled it off after staring at him. She liked the reactions he gave as much as he liked hers, understanding that making fun of each other once in a while was a healthy habit rather than being stuck up and being nice or rude all the time.
She hated being unlively and was glad that he could take a joke instead of being stoic.
After they teased each other, they naturally walked out of the room and headed toward the bridal chamber.
Outside the bridal chamber, there were many people, but they were all women. However, instead of the usual cheeriness, they would possess, their expressions were somewhat solemn.
"Today, the Rocksunders really haven't done anything despite bringing their people. Does anyone think that they could've been the one to poison the food?"
"Impossible. They didn't have Immortal Kings in their entourage to fool our eyes and senses."
"I thought so too."
Isabella couldn't help but ask, which caused Evelynn to shake her head before the former agreed. No matter how they thought, the poisoning incident must've definitely been a cunning and vile act of Rai Zenflame.
However, the Earth Dragon Clan's people were too silent, acting as though they didn't exist despite coming in numbers. They didn't even mention a single word about Isabella, which made them feel as though there was something more to their silence.
"Sisters, I know it's important to slaughter the culprit, but let's not talk about this matter today. Today should be a joyous occasion for two of us."
Natalya turned to look at Sophie and Niera, who were also contemplative, but once they were mentioned, they blinked. It seemed like they forgot they were the brides, causing them to smile lightly in embarrassment.
Isabella and Evelynn also apologized for making unwanted statements before the bridal chamber. However, they all understood that safety was of the utmost importance and didn't blame them.
Seeing everyone was on the same page, the women were heartened.
However, the most they were worried about at this moment was someone else.
At this moment, the footsteps of two people could be heard, causing Sophie and Niera to finally turn stiff. Those footsteps heralded the end of innocence in their lives, causing their hearts to pound with all sorts of expectations. They knew what was coming, causing them to unwittingly lower their heads in shyness.
Indeed, Davis walked along with Shirley and stood before them.
Along the way, he thanked Ellia for standing guard over their secret conversation with Mistress Zahara and Mistress Yeyin. He had invited Ellia here, but she declined, stating that she didn't want to rush into everything only to be kicked out.
He could only laugh at her words yet melt at her concern and understanding. But looking at the woman before him looking at him with a welcoming smile, he couldn't help but feel that he was the happiest man alive.
However, there was still a matter that irked his heart.
"Mingzhi, you're not mad at me for not taking action, right?"
Mingzhi frowned, "What are you saying? If you had gone and fought, I would've lost you today. I'm more proud of the fact that you can hold yourself back under those circumstances, especially as I already killed him in my mind thousands of times to placate myself."
"Haha. My smart Mingzhi, I was worried about you for nothing."
"Worry for me. Keep me first in your heart, or I'll curse you." Mingzhi giggled before her expression turned solemn, "On a serious note, I'm really glad that you didn't let yourself loose. I think that this is very likely their goal if the poison fails. They disrespected me- You attacked them and got killed in apparent retaliation- Your wives, especially Isabella and Shirley, get abducted later on when they venture out for missions- End of story."
"So vile." Isabella flinched as she raised her fist.
"She's not wrong. That could very likely happen." Evelynn agreed.
"But we still have our trump card."
But Fiora smirked as she swiveled her head.
Following her, everyone couldn't help but turn to look at Davis. However, they weren't looking at him but looking at Everlight, who held almost everyone's lives with her. In case they died, they could supposedly revive from her tail. As Mingzhi explained it to them, the world was a game, and Everlight was apparently a re-spawn point.
They would really rather 'die' than surrender at any point in the future.
However, they were forbidden from talking about it, so they could only mention it as their trump card.
Davis couldn't help but smile as he spread out his hands and brought every one of his women into the bridal chamber.
Evelynn, Natalya, Isabella, Shirley, Fiora, Mingzhi, Zestria, Lea, Iesha, Tanya, Bylai, Nadia, Sophie, Niera, Tina, and Dalila.
They were all inside the bridal chamber. However, the bridal chamber was kind of empty. There was only a wooden bed with little decoration.
But at this moment, Davis took out the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace in its tinier form. Everlight, Ellia, and a few others like Mira and Freya were inside it. However, Vereina, the Divergent woman, was long gone. He had recommended her yesterday to the Aurora Cloud Gate, so she had become the newest addition to being a core disciple.
Before her, most of his women had anonymously challenged disciples in the Proving Grounds and became core disciples.
Only Clara hadn't become an immortal yet.
However, she couldn't see through anyone's lie either, as they were all too strong for her special eyes to perceive.
So instead of doing something stupid such as exposing her to the crowd, she remained relatively hidden as she heeded her brother's words, watching the marriage procession from a hidden location, which was also the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace.
"Those who would like to enter and do your thing can enter. During this time, remember not to leave the residence, much less the island."
Davis reminded as he disappeared along with Sophie and Niera, causing the other ladies to have ambiguous smiles as they blinked at each other.
This bridal chamber was fake. Anyone who entered here thinking that they could assassinate Davis while he was 'working out' was bound to die as they set up a Mid Immortal King Grade Killing Formation here. Just because they closed the island, they didn't wipe out the possibility of assassins having sneaked in.
Nonetheless, the real bridal chamber was one of the many units in the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace. Meanwhile, they also went to their respective units to cultivate, not willing to roam around anymore as the wedding event came to an end.
Whether it was rivalry, competition, or pure determination, every single one of them chose to cultivate at this moment.
