Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 687 - 686: Domineering Powerhouse
Chapter 687: Chapter 686: Domineering Powerhouse
After glancing around the simple, ancient room, Lin Yun’s gaze finally settled on the two Jade Boxes. They were the only objects in the entire room. ’They must contain the final treasures of the Cyan Dragon Palace,’ he thought.
Just as Lin Yun started walking toward the Jade Boxes, a figure suddenly materialized on the empty meditation cushion. It was a normal-looking human figure, and this time, Lin Yun could clearly see its face.
The figure was a middle-aged man with a commanding presence. The simple green robe he wore did not look plain on him at all; instead, it highlighted an air of dominance and a transcendent, otherworldly quality.
Before Lin Yun could speak, the figure looked at him, a smile gracing his lips. "Kid, we meet again."
Hearing this, Lin Yun quickly realized that this was the same giant figure from the main hall. Back in the hall, he had been hundreds of meters tall, but now, he was the same height as Lin Yun.
"You are...?" Lin Yun asked, looking at the middle-aged man.
"You can call me Cyan Dragon." Although the man wore a smile and showed no hostility toward Lin Yun, the faint, oppressive aura radiating from him still made Lin Yun feel immense pressure.
With a wave of his sleeve, another meditation cushion materialized out of thin air opposite him. "Sit," Cyan Dragon said to Lin Yun.
Lin Yun did as he was told and sat down opposite Cyan Dragon. Facing him, Lin Yun felt enormous pressure. ’Based on my guess,’ he thought, ’Cyan Dragon must be at least at the Main God Level.’
However, if Lin Yun knew that in Cyan Dragon’s eyes, the current Main Gods of the Divine Realm were nothing but ants he could obliterate at will, one wonders what he would think.
"Little fellow, now that you’ve obtained my Dragon Bone and Dragon Blood, how do you feel?" Devoid of the typical stiffness of a powerful expert, Cyan Dragon seemed very approachable as he looked at Lin Yun.
But upon hearing Cyan Dragon’s words, Lin Yun looked at him in astonishment. "That pool of Dragon Blood and that Dragon Bone were both yours?"
"That’s right," he replied with a smile.
Lin Yun had never imagined that the Cyan Dragon before him was not a human, but a true Divine Dragon.
Seeing Lin Yun’s surprised expression, Cyan Dragon chuckled. "What’s wrong? Are you so shocked that I’m not human?"
At his words, Lin Yun didn’t reply. He was at a loss for words. So, the ultimate inheritance of the Cyan Dragon Palace was Cyan Dragon’s own skeleton and blood.
Paying no mind to Lin Yun’s astonishment, Cyan Dragon continued speaking as if to himself. "Times have changed. During the Ancient Golden Era, there was actually little difference between Demon Beasts and humans. Many could even intermarry. But..."
As he spoke, Cyan Dragon’s expression grew heavy, as if he were recalling some tragic memory, and his entire aura shifted.
However, just a sliver of the aura Cyan Dragon released was enough to place immense pressure on Lin Yun. Looking at him, Lin Yun felt as if his entire body had been frozen in place, and even his heartbeat seemed to stop.
"You wanted to know the secret of the Cyan Dragon Palace, didn’t you? Do you still want to know?" Cyan Dragon asked Lin Yun nonchalantly.
Hearing this, Lin Yun nodded resolutely. The secret of the Cyan Dragon Palace had always been like a thorn in his heart. If he couldn’t uncover it, it would remain an unresolved obsession.
"The Cyan Dragon Palace, the White Tiger Forest, the Vermilion Bird Hall, and the Xuanwu Hall are located in the four corners of the Celestial Spirit Continent. They are the Celestial Spirit Four Symbols, meant to suppress the universe and seal the Divine and Demonic. It would be more accurate to call the Cyan Dragon Palace a seal rather than a ruin," Cyan Dragon said slowly.
Hearing this, Lin Yun asked in confusion, "A seal?"
"That’s right. The Celestial Spirit Four Symbols are, in fact, a seal—a seal against the Divine and Demonic, a seal that protects the Celestial Spirit Continent. However, this seal has now been broken," Cyan Dragon said.
Lin Yun was completely baffled. Seeing his confusion, Cyan Dragon’s expression turned extremely serious as he slowly began to explain.
The Ancient Golden Era was an age so long ago that its distance from the present is unknown. Cyan Dragon himself is from that era. In the Ancient Golden Era, there was no Divine Realm, no Demon Realm, and certainly no Celestial Spirit Continent.
All humans and Demon Beasts lived together on a single landmass. That landmass was called the Ancient Continent, and it was immeasurably larger than the Celestial Spirit Continent.
However, toward the end of the Ancient Golden Era, for some unknown reason, the cultivation path for Human Martial Artists diverged at the stage beyond what is now known as a Saint.
After a Martial Artist cultivated to the Celestial Saint Realm, they would face a choice, known as Divine Enthronement or Fallen Demon. With this choice, different factions naturally emerged.
The Martial Artists who chose Divine Enthronement gathered to form one power, which became the present-day Divine Realm. Those who chose Fallen Demon gathered to form another, which became the present-day Demon Realm.
Because their beliefs were completely different, the two powers were like fire and water from the moment of their inception, igniting a world-shaking war across the entire Ancient Continent.
The people who called themselves the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm began to expand crazily across the Ancient Continent, devouring powers both large and small. Any faction that refused to surrender to them was slaughtered.
The war raged on, with countless Martial Artists dying every day. There was no way to stop the conflict. In the end, reclusive experts like Cyan Dragon finally joined forces.
Using their incomparably immense power, they shattered the entire Ancient Continent, breaking it into countless smaller continents, each existing in a separate Space.
And the largest continent, the one where the Divine Realm and Demon Realm were located, was what Cyan Dragon and the others called the Divine Demon Continent.
The shattered Ancient Continent was divided into innumerable smaller continents, and Cyan Dragon and the other three powerful Demon Beasts came to the Celestial Spirit Continent.
They had thought that by isolating the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm, they could stop the flames of war from spreading. But of course, it was never that simple. The Divine Realm and Demon Realm continued their fierce battles on the Divine Demon Continent, and soon, the demonic claws of both powers reached out to the other continents.
The Divine Realm and the Demon Realm both spent an immense price over a long period to construct Space Passages connecting the Divine Demon Continent to all the other continents.
Places like the Celestial Spirit Continent became endless supply depots for the Divine and Demon Realms. Every day, countless Martial Artists were captured by people from either the Divine Realm or the Demon Realm and taken to the Divine Demon Continent to serve as cannon fodder in their war.
That period was the darkest in the history of the Celestial Spirit Continent. The Divine and Demon Realms both dispatched Warriors to the Celestial Spirit Continent. Any Martial Artist who broke through to the Celestial Spirit Realm was captured by one of the two realms. For them, going to the Divine Demon Continent was a one-way trip to their deaths; there was no other path.
As Lin Yun listened to Cyan Dragon’s tale, the shock in his eyes grew ever deeper. ’So this is how the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm were formed?’
