Chapter 668: Chapter 667: A Great Victory

The Third Commander was dead, and now, the Second Commander was dead too. With that, all four Commanders leading the Divine Palace army had fallen at Lin Yun’s hands.

Without saying a word, Lin Yun simply stood there, the Second Commander’s head still dripping blood in his hand. Every Divine Palace Warrior felt as if Lin Yun were the sole Emperor of the world—unquestionable and unopposable.

The Divine Palace Warriors, who had just been brimming with Battle Intent, suddenly lost all will to fight. Without their Commanders, they had no leadership and no idea what to do.

An army without a general is no army at all. Just like these Divine Palace Warriors, who, without a Divine Palace Commander, no longer knew what to do.

"You have ten breaths. Flee within that time, or be killed without mercy." Lin Yun’s cold voice slowly rang out as the stunned Divine Palace Warriors stared at him.

Upon hearing his words, there was a silence of several breaths before the surviving Divine Palace Warriors all exchanged glances.

Soon, the first person turned to flee. Where there was one, a second followed. Within a dozen or so breaths, the remaining three thousand-odd Divine Palace Warriors were all scattering into the distance.

The Divine Palace forces had fled. All four Commanders had been slain by Lin Yun. Victory was finally theirs. After a brief silence, the surviving Demon Palace Warriors erupted into frenzied cheers.

This victory had not come easily; in fact, it was almost unbelievable. With only a hundred men, Lin Yun had managed to repel a Divine Palace army of over ten thousand. It was a feat that should have been impossible.

The surviving Demon Palace Warriors were all severely wounded. Lin Yun, having deactivated his War God Transformation and the power of the Demon Emperor’s Blood Pool, was also extremely weak. Ignoring everything else, the group landed on a hillside and found a clean patch of grass. Lin Yun distributed his Healing Medicine among the survivors, swallowed a dose himself, then sat down cross-legged and began to meditate and heal.

It was, admittedly, a victory, but a pyrrhic one. Of the original one-hundred-strong elite team, only thirty remained. Seventy had died in the battle.

Furthermore, every one of the thirty survivors was grievously injured. It was a good thing they had Lin Yun’s Healing Elixirs; otherwise, it was questionable whether they would have survived at all.

While Lin Yun had successfully repelled the Divine Palace forces on his front, the battle between the Demon Palace’s Grand Commander and the Divine Palace army led by Qing Zhu was also drawing to a close.

The battle, involving tens of thousands, had raged for a full day and night. By now, the entire Divine Palace encampment had been razed to the ground, and the surrounding land for a thousand li had been turned into a desolate wasteland.

Every tree and blade of grass had been utterly obliterated. However, because the Second Commander and his reinforcements never arrived, the Divine Palace was ultimately no match for the Demon Palace’s main army. Nearly eight thousand of their troops were slain, two thousand fled, and another thousand were captured.

Notably, of Xi Zijin, the Monk, and the Daoist, who had been fighting Qing Zhu’s party of three, the Monk and Daoist were relatively unharmed. Xi Zijin, however, was in grave danger.

Not only had she resorted to using a Secret Technique, but she had also been grievously wounded by Qing Zhu. She had forced herself to stay conscious, but as soon as Qing Zhu’s group retreated, Xi Zijin collapsed into a coma.

Looking at the heavily wounded, comatose Xi Zijin, the Monk and the Daoist exchanged a glance. A look of utter, pained reluctance was visible in both their eyes.

"Ah, to hell with it... It’s your own fault for being Young Master Lin’s woman. I, Shang, am going all in." With a helpless sigh, the Monk then took another Space Ring from his waist.

If Lin Yun had been there, he would have been left speechless. ’Just how many Space Rings does this Monk have?’

The Space Ring flashed, and an extremely exquisite Jade Box appeared in the Monk’s hand. Judging by the box alone, its value was clearly immense.

No wonder the Monk looked so agonized; anything stored in such an exquisite Jade Box had to be an extraordinary treasure.

He carefully opened the Jade Box. Instantly, a rich, fresh medicinal aroma wafted out. Inside was a longan-sized Elixir, pure white and so crystalline that it reflected the Monk’s portly face on its surface.

"Sigh... my Sky Net Life-extending Pill..." the Monk muttered dejectedly, gazing at the white Elixir with extreme reluctance.

The Sky Net Life-extending Pill. An Earth Level Eight-Stars Elixir. This was one of the Monk’s most treasured possessions. The value of this single pill was equivalent to tens of millions of Middle Grade Primordial Stones.

If Xi Zijin’s injuries hadn’t been so severe that only a Sky Net Life-extending Pill could save her, the Monk wouldn’t have produced it even on pain of death.

Though his eyes betrayed his reluctance, the Monk ultimately fed the Elixir into Xi Zijin’s mouth. As the Sky Net Life-extending Pill took effect, the color slowly returned to her once-bloodless cheeks, which grew rosy again.

The wounds on her body began to heal at a visible rate. Within a hundred breaths, all of her external injuries had vanished completely. Now, Xi Zijin simply looked as if she were peacefully asleep.

"Alright. With the Sky Net Life-extending Pill, she should be fine," the Monk said, glancing at Xi Zijin. At his word, two Demon Palace Warriors came over, carefully lifted Xi Zijin onto one of their backs, and flew toward the Demon Palace city.

Xi Zijin was out of danger, but the Monk’s heart was bleeding. ’The Sky Net Life-extending Pill...’ The very thought sent a chill through his heart.

Seeing the Monk’s expression, the Daoist chuckled and said, "Come on, it’s just one Sky Net Life-extending Pill. Haha, look at that face you’re making."

The Daoist’s teasing at a time like this made the Monk erupt in anger. "You damn Daoist! If you’re so tough, why don’t you take out your Dragon Blood Pill? Things were so dangerous just now, but I didn’t see you taking one, did I?"

The Monk’s retort instantly shut the Daoist up. The Dragon Blood Pill was also an Earth Level Eight-Stars Elixir. Unlike the Sky Net Life-extending Pill, its effect was similar to a Blood Burst Pill; after consumption, it could drastically increase a Martial Artist’s Combat Power for a short period.

However, that wasn’t the most terrifying aspect of the Dragon Blood Pill. While boosting a Martial Artist’s Combat Power, it also allowed the user to temporarily wield a sliver of the Power of Dragon.

Just imagine—the Power of Dragon. What a terrifying thing. Compared to the Sky Net Life-extending Pill, the Dragon Blood Pill was in no way less valuable.

This battle was an overwhelming victory for the Demon Palace. The Grand Commander’s forces in particular had completely routed the Divine Palace troops led by Qing Zhu. As the Grand Commander oversaw the cleanup of the battlefield, his admiration for Lin Yun grew even stronger.

The cleanup of the battlefield proceeded in an orderly fashion. As for the thousand captured Divine Palace Warriors, the Grand Commander did not order their execution. Instead, he had them all escorted to the Demon Palace city to be imprisoned.
