Chapter 624: Chapter 624: Cruel Woman

The Monk and Daoist could now only place their hopes on the treasures from the ruins. They had given all their Spirit Soldiers to the Demon Palace, so it wasn’t hard to imagine the desolation in their hearts.

Giving the two a slight smile, Lin Yun said, "Alright, once we get the treasures from the ruins, I’ll let you two pick first. How does that sound?"

Hearing this, the expressions on the Monk and Daoist’s faces finally eased up a little.

After waiting in the small courtyard until nightfall, Lin Yun gathered everyone to set off. When they arrived at the gates of the Demon City, the Ten Commanders of the Demon Palace were already waiting for them.

"Brother Lin Yun, this journey will be exceptionally dangerous. You must take care," the Grand Commander said, looking at Lin Yun.

"Exactly! I’ll be waiting for you all to come back so we can drink until we drop," Zhang Qing added from the side.

With a faint smile, Lin Yun nodded and handed all ninety of the prepared Spirit Soldiers over to the Grand Commander. Although the Grand Commander had never seen a Spirit Soldier himself, he knew of the power of the Giant Axe Lin Yun had given the Second Commander that day. With a single swing, no Weapon in the Demon Palace could withstand it; they were all cut down with the ease of slicing through vegetables.

Now, gazing at the ninety heaven-defying Spirit Soldiers before him, the Grand Commander felt his breath catch in his throat.

"Grand Commander, these Spirit Soldiers are a gift for the Demon Palace Warriors. I’ve already picked out the nine best ones for the Ten Commanders to use. As for the rest, you can distribute them to the Warriors in the Demon Palace with the highest Combat Power. Moreover, these men could form an elite unit with extraordinary Combat Power..." Lin Yun said slowly.

It was such a significant gift that the Grand Commander was at a loss for words. When he heard Lin Yun suggest using these Spirit Soldiers to form an elite unit, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

Just by imagining it, the Grand Commander could easily guess how incredibly formidable the Combat Power of a unit wielding these Spirit Soldiers would be.

"Brother Lin Yun..." The Grand Commander looked at Lin Yun, about to say something, but Lin Yun cut him off.

"Grand Commander, there’s no need to say anything. Defeating the Divine Palace is our common goal."

Hearing this, the Grand Commander nodded resolutely. Without any more pleasantries, Lin Yun and his group departed from the Demon City. The Ten Commanders watched their retreating figures until they had completely vanished from sight before they put away the Spirit Soldiers and turned back toward the Demon City.

After leaving the Demon City, Lin Yun looked at the map in his hand. The Grand Commander had given it to him, and it clearly marked the locations of the Divine Palace’s Five Great Cities.

Having determined their direction, Lin Yun and the others mounted the Black-striped Tiger and sped toward the city farthest from the Demon City.

The Black-striped Tiger was massive, so the four of them didn’t feel cramped at all while riding it. The tiger, for its part, carried the four with no trouble. The group advanced swiftly.

With the Black-striped Tiger’s speed, it took only a single night for Lin Yun’s group to reach a forest outside the city. They stopped a few miles away from the city walls.

Gathering around, Lin Yun looked at the others and said, "We’ll wait until nightfall to make our move. First, let’s grab someone from the Divine Palace for questioning."

Lin Yun had set their operation for nighttime because under the cover of darkness, it would be difficult for the people of the Divine Palace to know how many of them had come. It would be easy for Lin Yun to create a false impression for the Divine Palace Warriors.

They needed to capture someone from the Divine Palace to assess the situation. As for who should go, everyone naturally looked at Little Ape, perched on Lin Yun’s shoulder.

It had to be said that the fist-sized Little Ape was perfectly suited for such stealthy tasks.

Lin Yun gave Little Ape a few instructions. Hearing them, Little Ape nodded, then transformed into a streak of blood-red light and shot toward the city.

Grabbing a random person from the Divine Palace shouldn’t be a difficult task for Little Ape. Lin Yun and the others waited where they were. After about an hour, Little Ape—now a bit over a man’s height—returned, sure enough, carrying an unconscious Divine Palace Warrior.

They woke the man up. As soon as he opened his eyes and saw Lin Yun’s group, having never seen Lin Yun before, the Divine Palace Warrior naturally assumed they were from the Demon Palace.

"You’re from the Demon Palace?" he asked Lin Yun nervously.

"Cut the crap. If you want to live, you’ll answer what I ask. Say one word more, and you die," Lin Yun said coldly.

Hearing this, the man was even more convinced that Lin Yun’s group were Demon Palace Warriors. To his credit, the man had some backbone. Once he guessed they were from the Demon Palace, he clamped his mouth shut and refused to say a word.

However, his defiance didn’t last long. Lin Yun stepped forward without a word and snapped the man’s right thumb. Excruciating pain shot through him, making the man cry out involuntarily.

"Don’t test my patience. I’m going to ask you a question. If you don’t answer, I’ll break another one of your fingers. Now, talk. How many Divine Palace Warriors are guarding this city?" Lin Yun asked coldly.

However, faced with Lin Yun’s question, the man just grit his teeth, still showing no intention of answering.

A slight smile touched Lin Yun’s lips as he murmured to himself, ’Looks like we have a tough one. Very well. Let’s see just how long you can hold out.’

A series of wretched screams escaped the man’s mouth, but even after Lin Yun had broken all ten of his fingers, the man still showed no sign of talking.

Seeing this, Xi Zijin, who had been standing behind Lin Yun the whole time, stepped forward and said to him, "Let me."

’I couldn’t get anything out of him, yet Xi Zijin says she can.’ Though he didn’t know what method she had in mind, Lin Yun still stepped aside as she asked.

Lin Yun moved back, replaced by a beautiful woman. The man, already covered in sweat and pale-faced, looked at Xi Zijin and actually dared to taunt her, "Well, little beauty, are you here to give your old man a good time?"

Hearing the man’s words, Xi Zijin’s expression didn’t change. Her Space Ring flashed, and a sharp dagger appeared in her hand.

Without a word, Xi Zijin plunged the dagger straight into the man’s chest.

He let out a pained scream. Xi Zijin looked down at him and said, "I don’t have much patience. If you don’t talk, I’ll carve out your heart. I’ve heard that if it’s done quickly enough, a person won’t die the moment their heart is removed."

"Coincidentally, my Saber Technique is decent. Would you like to see what color your heart is?"

Xi Zijin’s voice was flat, but hearing her words, the man’s face changed. In his eyes, this woman might be even more terrifying than Lin Yun.

"You’re a devil..." he said, looking at Xi Zijin in terror.

"A devil? Who I am is not important. You can remain silent. By the same token, I am also very curious to see what your heart looks like." She gave a cold laugh, and the dagger in her hand began to move.
