Chapter 2771 - 2772: Casual Conversation on the Return Journey

Agunas hasn’t completely let down its guard, but after several tests, it is certain that at least the Strange Island is fine for now, because those mutated spirit beasts are living happily here. For spirit beasts, captivity isn’t necessarily a bad thing; what’s critical is how they themselves perceive it.

These mutated spirit beasts on Strange Island have too low a limit in strength. Even if they were living in the wild, it might not be much better. On Strange Island, not only is food and drink not an issue, but the companions they play with are also anomalies within their own species, allowing them to understand each other and play together.

For them, this place is heaven. As for whether it counts as captivity? To them, it seems utterly meaningless.

Since these mutated spirit beasts willingly stay here and even live quite happily, Agunas can’t say much. It is solely targeting those who harm wild spirit beasts.

As for other wild spirit beasts? As long as they aren’t excessively abused by humans or happen to run into Agunas itself, it won’t actively seek trouble. Agunas understands that it’s impossible to completely avoid those incidents, or rather, a world with excessive order instinctively makes it feel uncomfortable.

If it were to ask Feng Yuan, it would certainly get the answer that the world needs disorder and order to coexist. Excessive order could lead the world to destruction; this is why Agunas feels instinctively repulsed by it.

Divine Beasts are the protectors of world order by nature and naturally have no fondness for things that might lead to global catastrophe.

"The mutated spirit beasts here are really clingy~"

Hugging the winged One-leaf Fox from earlier, Feng Yuan chuckled, as the creature in its arms lazily fluffed its fluffy big tail. Nearby Xiao Ji stared warily at the One-leaf Fox, afraid this pesky fox would steal Feng Yuan’s affection away from her.

The One-leaf Fox had no such thought at all; in its eyes, acting cute and harmless was merely a means to gain benefits from humans. It even knew very well that this island was created to please those people.

Though not utterly humble, it proactively showed goodwill and adorableness to visitors because of its gratitude towards the island. Here, the One-leaf Fox felt much happier than where it used to live.

"Rather than being clingy, it’s more like they’re acting as servers."

Glancing at the One-leaf Fox in Feng Yuan’s arms, Veronia said indifferently, immediately understanding its intentions. There was nothing to say about it; it was evidently the One-leaf Fox’s own choice, one which Veronia couldn’t be bothered to intervene in.

The entire Strange Island is dominated by various mutated plants and spirit beasts. Those mutant plants weren’t artificially created but naturally formed, which creates a sense of disarray on the island. However, it’s also what gives visitors a sense of stepping into the wild.

In the center of Strange Island, there is an architectural complex. Just that, the buildings lack distinctive features, resembling an outdoor camping site with cabins, campfires, and other elements that are too obvious.

But since they weren’t spending the night here, nobody cared about the architecture.

Although these mutated spirit beasts don’t have much combat power, their appearance is adorable enough that even Zhou Weijun and others couldn’t help but toy with them like pets.

After Feng Yuan and the others had lunch on Strange Island, they made their way by ship towards Maomu City.

"Not bad at all, at least it’s pretty good for relaxing."

On the deck, facing the wind blowing from the river, Feng Yuan remarked with a smile. Xiao Ji opened her wings and let out a sound, while Agunas swished its tail and said

"They’ve already begun operations in other regions of the Imperial Timeline, but... the results are not favorable."

"Wasn’t this expected long ago? With no unified organization and without Divine Beasts as the backbone, achieving easy victory was never possible."

Feng Yuan thought of something and looked at Agunas, asking

"Are you planning to intervene?"

Glancing at Feng Yuan, Agunas swished its tail and said

"No, I don’t intend to meddle in this matter. However, the current battle situation is not suitable for Qi Chen and his group to participate in."

"Hmm, Qi Chen and the others aren’t foolish. If the circumstances aren’t favorable, they’ll certainly not act impulsively, especially since they haven’t gone to Tamur to request Mythical Transformation yet, indicating it’s not time for action."

It had been agreed beforehand that before entering the Imperial Timeline, Qi Chen and his team would seek Tamur for Mythical Transformation, considering it a valuable card.

"As for others, it’s none of my concern. Besides, those scrambling to participate in the battle now are likely the ones regretting."

With a smile, Feng Yuan said indifferently. The decision that soldiers of the United Army cannot participate in subsequent actions was a result of those forces working together, naturally. Even the United Army has this intent, rather than relying on them alone to press the United Army to submit.

Joking, they receive the Ascension Stone unconditionally, meaning the most Legendary-level Beast Masters are actually within the United Army. As for Divine Beasts? Their Divine Beasts hadn’t stepped in, and even if they wanted to act, those associated with the United Army would likely not stand idly by.

Therefore, Feng Yuan and even the United Army are merely spectators of the chaos emerging in the new battlefields of the Imperial Timeline. As for participating? Impossible. They wouldn’t foolishly try to capture another Ascension Stone.

Not mentioning how many sacrifices might emerge along the way, for its worth, even Zhou Weijun and his group hadn’t utilized the Ascension Stone. That thing doesn’t count as particularly essential for a Legendary Beast Master.

Risking subordinates for such inconsequential items? They aren’t foolish, especially since they hadn’t planned to continue expanding beyond. Naturally, the United Army agreed not to intervene in subsequent battles.

Moreover, it benefits them; any losses from those folks can’t be blamed on the United Army. After all, it was their own request, and trivial complaints would only lead Divine Beasts to lose favor with them.

"Those people thought they could take advantage without efforts, but failed to realize the world fairly rewards every contributor."

With a swish of its tail, Agunas said, and Feng Yuan chuckled, stating

"Hence inside the Imperial Timeline, quite a few who deployed were previously hoping to partake in effortless gains. With such circumstances, chaos was inevitable, but this disorder shouldn’t last long."

"After all, their aim was to obtain the Ascension Stone, not to seize the Imperial Timeline’s resources, at least for now, that holds true."

"What are you guys talking about? Stuff about the Imperial Timeline?"

At that moment, Zhou Weijun walked over, curiously looking at Feng Yuan as he asked. Nodding, Feng Yuan replied

"Just casual chat; after all, the subsequent attacks on the Imperial Timeline have begun, though the battle situation isn’t favorable."

Zhou Weijun wasn’t surprised that Feng Yuan knew the latest frontline news even he wasn’t aware of, given there’s a Divine Beast by Feng Yuan’s side, and the intelligence network of Divine Beasts was no secret; everyone knows its existence.

"As expected, I bet you foresaw this; that bunch of mobs fighting properly is unlikely."

Zhou Weijun wasn’t surprised at all about the nature of those folks; he knew their antics well. It would be strange for them to charge like the United Army, defeating the opposition swiftly.

"Heh, mainly my friends wanted to join in, not for that unconditional Ascension Stone, but for the challenge of reducing difficulty."

"Otherwise, I wouldn’t be bothered about the affairs over there."

Feng Yuan didn’t mind saying this, as it was indeed his thinking. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Zhou Weijun looked at him peculiarly, and said

"I assume your friend has already obtained the Ascension Stone and advanced to Legendary Beast Master, right? Why pursue a second Ascension Stone?"

"To bolster the team; we’re just freshmen this year, and even if we advance to Legendary-level, two alone isn’t enough."

With a careless shrug, Feng Yuan replied, Zhou Weijun paused slightly at the realization, saying

"True, though this time it’s actually quite dangerous."

"Beast Taming Academy students shouldn’t fear danger; they weren’t planning to join the main battleground anyway. After all, battles will break out everywhere, no problem."

With a chuckle, Feng Yuan explained, and Zhou Weijun stared at Feng Yuan for a moment before revealing a smile, saying

"I had initially worried those successors might encounter issues taking shortcuts, but now it seems they aren’t bad at all."

The willingness to venture for growth led Zhou Weijun to believe those fragile and worthless appearances likely wouldn’t emerge.
