Chapter 2650 - 2651: The Real Target

"The power of Mythical Transformation has been activated, don’t you care?"

Tamur suddenly looked up in the direction of Maomu City. It couldn’t perceive who exactly activated the Mythical Transformation, but it could sense the power of Mythical Transformation over a vast distance, after all, it was a power stemming from it.

As for who used it, that didn’t need to be guessed. Tamur had only granted the power of Mythical Transformation to Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan, so it could only be one of them using it. They must have acted together, so there was no need to find out exactly who was using the Mythical Transformation.

"Uh, did they run into some tricky trouble?"

Stunned for a moment, Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised as he put down the dessert in his hand. The Mythical Transformation was something he had asked Tamur to grant to Qi Chen and the others, precisely to prevent them from encountering an unbeatable foe while he was away from Maomu City.

As long as they didn’t use the Anti-Divine Beast Rune, they could escape with the power of Mythical Transformation. Even against the Anti-Divine Beast Rune, Mythical Transformation could hold its own for a while.

It was a fallback plan Feng Yuan had to ensure their safety, yet he hadn’t expected them to use it at this time. Feng Yuan surely didn’t believe they would use the power of Mythical Transformation unnecessarily.

Though they were young, Qi Chen’s steadiness prevented him from acting rashly, and Dou Yanlan, being a commander, would even less so. Impulsiveness was a grave mistake for a commander.

"Do you need to go and take a look?"

Veronia looked at Feng Yuan, inquiring. After a moment of silence, Feng Yuan thought for a bit and said,

"Forget it. If they really needed help, they would surely contact me. Since they haven’t, it should be fine, perhaps they used the Mythical Transformation for another reason."

Even though it would take only a phone call to get to the bottom of it, Feng Yuan decided not to.

There was no need; being overly concerned wasn’t good for either side, after all, their relationship wasn’t at a point where they had to be constantly attentive to one another.

"By the way, what has Maomu City encountered? Normally, the squad they’re in should be quite safe."

Casually grabbing a passing Leaf Spirit Cat, Feng Yuan asked curiously. After a bit of scratching, the Leaf Spirit Cat purred comfortably in Feng Yuan’s arms. Veronia glanced at Xiao Ji, who hadn’t noticed this situation, and said,

"In theory, yes, but that doesn’t mean they’re absolutely safe."

"If Maomu City isn’t safe, they wouldn’t ignore my presence, not to mention it’s not easy to rush over now."

Thinking it over, Feng Yuan abandoned the idea of supporting Maomu City, as spatial transfer was blocked. Even if Cha Mu Town was one of the towns under Maomu City, it would still take half a day to get back.

In such a case, even if Feng Yuan went back, it wouldn’t make much of a difference. If they can hold on for that long, they wouldn’t need Feng Yuan’s support, unless Maomu City was breached, in which case the military wouldn’t be able to deal with the enemy and support the backup squad within half a day.

What if it’s a diversion tactic? A round trip would take a day. If Feng Yuan stayed put, it would take less than an hour to reach where Yognot was.

If he were to return to Maomu City and something unexpected happened here, Feng Yuan wouldn’t be able to support in time, unless they violently broke the spatial blockade, which would make Najia and Gitalien’s combined spatial blockade ineffective.

Unless necessary, Feng Yuan didn’t want to do that.

"Hmm, what should we do next? Bully the Bilu Mushrooms? Those little guys are quite busy now, better not. Long Boduo, do you have any good suggestions?"

Resting one hand on his head, Feng Yuan stirred the fish soup for lunch with a spoon in his other hand, and suddenly froze, Long Boduo?!

"Why are you here?"

Seeing the anxious look on Long Boduo, Feng Yuan was puzzled. At this time, Divine Beasts shouldn’t be so idle, right? At least Long Boduo wasn’t the kind of Divine Beast that shirked responsibility.

"Urgent matter, let me leave a coordinate here for you, follow me, we don’t know how much longer Kui Shan Town can hold out!"

"Kui Shan Town?"

Feng Yuan was stunned. He never expected anything to happen there, because there were Mythological Remnants guarding it. Normally, those guys wouldn’t attack there, not only is there no benefit, but the cost would be massive.

Not only Feng Yuan, even Veronia didn’t expect Kui Shan Town to be attacked, but given Long Boduo’s anxious demeanor, it didn’t seem feigned. Also... what did leaving a coordinate mean?

Seeing the Netherworld Passage open, Veronia vaguely realized something.

"What exactly happened?"

During the fast-paced march, the team inevitably became somewhat chaotic, and taking this opportunity, Qi Chen approached Dou Yanlan because he didn’t understand why Dou Yanlan suddenly used the power of Mythical Transformation to change the tide of battle.

It’s known that for a large team, Qi Chen’s Mythical Transformation was not as powerful as Dou Yanlan’s. Qi Chen’s two Beasts Tamer, even with Mythical Transformation, couldn’t enhance the entire squad, while Dou Yanlan’s could.

This is the difference caused by team numbers. Even if Cotton’s individual enhancement under Mythical Transformation might not be particularly high, considering the number of people and Beasts Tamer in the entire squad without limitation, the enhancement was remarkably terrifying.

This allowed them to quickly defeat an "equally matched" enemy. However, previously, although they couldn’t quickly triumph over those they met, they weren’t in a great disadvantage either. In Qi Chen’s view, without special reasons, they could have slowly resolved those people.

"I don’t know, higher-ups suddenly ordered a defensive swap with the City Defence Army in fifteen minutes, surely something occurred that we’re unaware of."

Dou Yanlan spoke with a trace of worry, unsure herself of what went wrong, but such a command surely indicated trouble somewhere.

Defense swap?

Qi Chen didn’t quite understand why they would suddenly swap defenses with the City Defence Army. Thinking about it, he didn’t inquire further, as Dou Yanlan wouldn’t say either because she didn’t know or couldn’t say. Regardless, he shouldn’t delve too deeply into it.

As for whether something major might occur, Qi Chen felt he had no solution. His power was too limited for this scenario. Feng Yuan had the capability but didn’t know what was happening. Should they really ask Feng Yuan for help?

Unlike the conflicted Qi Chen, Feng Yuan directly followed Long Boduo’s lead through the Netherworld to swiftly head to Kui Shan Town, but it was this very act that made Feng Yuan instantly understand why the Imperial People attacked Kui Shan Town.

With spatial transfer now locked, passage through the Netherworld was unrestricted. This doesn’t mean other Domains follow suit, like the Dream Domain now being inaccessible, but the Netherworld is very special. As the resting place for Wandering Spirits, unless by a Netherworld Divine Beast, the Netherworld Passage can’t be easily sealed.

It means, even now, passing through the Netherworld can still be a way of fast spatial movement.

As for sealing the Netherworld?

Long Boduo and the others could do it, but until critical moments arise, they absolutely won’t. The reason Najia and Gitalien’s spatial blockade doesn’t affect the Netherworld Passage is because it needs to remain unobstructed at all times; new Wandering Spirits unable to reach the Netherworld would remain in reality, causing all kinds of disruptions.

Divine Beasts are maintainers of order and surely wouldn’t actively cause disorder unless necessary.

But it was precisely this point that made Feng Yuan almost forget about the possibility of using the Netherworld as a pathway.

In the time streams where the Netherworld doesn’t exist, their Beasts Tamer themselves also don’t have the capability to reach the Netherworld, hence why targeting Kui Shan Town became apparent.

Mythological Remnants there possess tools that allow ingress and egress to the Netherworld, and these tools can even affect small areas within the Netherworld significantly.

Feng Yuan couldn’t help but suspect they planned to launch an offensive against the Netherworld to seize control, despite the near impossibility of this feat.

It’s a joke; the Divine Beasts willing to counter them in the Main World restrain themselves despite taking action, leading to the current situation with the Netherworld...

Dare to mess with the Netherworld, see if Long Boduo and the others won’t go all out against you. Fury-driven Divine Beasts aren’t something a few Anti-Divine Beast Runes can handle, let alone an entire army of Netherworld Divine Beasts at bay.

Yet, utilizing the Mythological Remnants’ devices to pass through the Netherworld wouldn’t necessarily trigger intervention by Netherworld Divine Beasts. There’s too much to handle; while they inhabit the Netherworld, they do not control it.

The vastness of the Netherworld means even rotating patrols cannot cover all areas, and as long as no harm comes to it, Netherworld Divine Beasts might not bother too much with Imperial People encroaching therein.
