Chapter 248 - Upgrade (1)
"The boss has been inside the warehouse for three days. There won't be anything happening to him, correct?" Liam asked. Standing beside him were Marvin, Miria, and Miriam. As for the others, all of them have something to do.
"I think there's nothing much to worry about. The storage was one of the most secure buildings we reinforced, remember? Furthermore, we all know how strong our boss is. He won't have a problem unless he purposely creates it." Victor joined the conversation after returning from what he was doing earlier.
On his shoulder is a decommissioned weapon, along with something like a jumpsuit.
"What's that?" Marvin asked. His knowledge is mainly on more extensive, standard machinery. As for small things like what is in Victor's hand, he's clueless until the latter told him what it is.
This is also why Victor mainly handles small tools, while Marvin is responsible for the others. Their expertise is similar but different at the same time.
"No idea. I think it's something people invented after the outbreak." Victor dropped what he had on the ground for the others to have a look.
The decommissioned weapon looks about the length of Satella's Lunacy Anti-Material Rifle. But from the look of it, this weaponry seems to be much longer than Victor's estimation. But since it was molded using Carbide Material, this will likely be one-time use weaponry.
As for the broken jumpsuit, it looked like an exoskeleton suit. But because it was damaged, Victor and Marvin couldn't deduce what purpose this jumpsuit was made for. The only thing they can hope for is to search for any record related to this jumpsuit, with the word "AVALON" is printed on the chest.
"I wonder what this word "AVALON" printed on the jumpsuit meant," Marvin said. Tinkering with all the tools and machinery he found so far, Marvin had never once encountered this brand.
This could only mean two things.
One, it might be a standalone manufacturer that didn't register themselves before the Seed Crystal Viruses outbreak. As for the second, this "AVALON" company might be a reserved manufacturer hidden by the government.
*Ding!*
The door was opened from the inside.
Zhang Qin Feng came out while those on the outside were still immersed in their conversation. His view immediately went to the damaged jumpsuit placed on the ground. He's lacking item knowledge of this world, but not when it comes to commonsense.
Even a fool could have guessed that this is a damaged exoskeleton jumpsuit based on the supporting frame around the limbs and spine.
But the main concern here is not if they can repair it, but to create something out from what they have.
[Yes, Stein?]
-
[Oh... I see...]
Zhang Qin Feng looked like he was not himself for a second after coming out from the warehouse. But nobody noticed the difference. It was just a second of delay in his following action because he needs time to get used to the upgrade and calibration.
"Boss," everyone present greets Zhang Qin Feng the moment he walked out of the warehouse.
"En." Zhang Qin Feng nodded.
"Is that an exoskeleton on the floor? Where did you guys found it?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. Nothing changed on his outlook after isolating himself in there for three days. Except for a slightly untrimmed beard and mustache, there's nothing unusual.
"Did you two finish with your research?" Zhang Qin Feng went to the twins first and patted their heads. It's been quite a while he didn't see them. It seems they look much better and growing up beautifully too.
Unfortunately, his interest is not in the two lolis.
Zhang Qin Feng then turned his sight to Victor.
"I've used some of the resources inside the warehouse. If you need something later, let me know," said Zhang Qin Feng. There's a hint of misused in his words from saying it this way.
"No problem, boss. Everything inside there is yours anyway. I'm just taking care of them for you and keeping the inventory in check." Victor said.
"I have something to do, so let's gather for dinner later. If you see Satella and others, let them know about it too. Also, scan this jumpsuit and see if you can come up with something like this. In my opinion, this item doesn't look like it was built for military uses, but I can see some potential in it," said Zhang Qin Feng before he left.
"Girls, don't delay your research. You've been taking too long to refine that Wolfram Light." Zhang Qin Feng makes sure that he teased the loli twins before he left the building.
Little that they know, Zhang Qin Feng's brain was processing multiple information when speaking with them. It seems that after Stein's reconstructed its function, Zhang Qin Feng now had part of the system built into his head.
The feeling is like having a microchip embedded inside your head, and a digitally rigged image came up in your eyes wherever you're looking. Of course, it was not to that extent that likely turns Zhang Qin Feng into some living cyborg.
The reconstruction also allowed Stein to retrieve the functionality it has before assimilating with Zhang Qin Feng. Although the number of functions now is just a slight upgrade from the previous version, the efficiency is much better.
His eyesight can be said to be perfect right now, without a hint of blurry image no matter how far or close it is. Of course, that doesn't mean it was good to the point he can read everything while riding on a vehicle running at 100km/h, but these lacking were something Stein could assist when required.
Trying to get used to all the changes within him, Zhang Qin Feng casually strolled around the base while coping with the information flooding his mind. As long he wished for it, a digital floorplan and 3d image of the Wind Base could appear in his sight.
This will undoubtedly be useful in plenty of situations.
Furthermore, by connecting with the device in his wrist, Zhang Qin Feng noticed another helpful function.
"Satella?" Zhang Qin Feng smiled. With both hand-linked at his back, Zhang Qin Feng gets in touch with Satella without doing anything. For a moment, he felt that he could do almost anything he wishes for.
