Chapter 150 - Zhang Qin Feng's Ambition (1)
"Let's follow your arrangement." Zhang Qin Feng replied with a smile.
His words were like a drumroll sound coming into Alice Moon's mind as the contract was signed. It was an 8.5 million Yuan Dollar's contract, which lasts for a two-year contract. In these two years, Alice Moon and her team will be responsible for the factory's day-to-day operation. From hiring to planning and other menial matters.
As for Zhang Qin Feng, all he needed was to show his face once in a while.
Taking a look at the time again, Zhang Qin Feng notices that it's been a month he arrived at this Xiyang City. Although not everything was going according to his plan, it was a smooth journey so far.
...
...
"Feng..." Satella was by Zhang Qin Feng's side when he opened his eyes. Thinking back about yesterday, it was quite an experience because they've been going around searching for a new location to set up their base.
It was also the first time they tried to push through the zombie's barricade around the base. Although the first attempt was an unsuccessful one, it was not a complete defeat either.
They might have been overwhelmed by the number of zombies, but that doesn't mean they would be overwhelmed straight away if the zombie retaliates. The only problem they had was with the firepower.
This attempt of pushing through also allowed the twins to test their proud Wolfram Light weapon. Three prototypes were produced to be put in a trial, but the end result is still far from satisfactory.
As for the modified Phalanx designed by Victor, it was rolled out in batches. The Substance and Matter Printer became essential as their production started to get more than before. This made Satella volunteered to lead a few people out to search for more of the machine.
But it was not positive all the way.
The SM-Printer was a limited resource, to begin with. Even with more survivors going out to look for it, that does not mean they'll found a few each time they went out to search for it. The team eventually brought three printers back to the Wind Base, but that was all they managed to find.
If they wanted to get their hand on more, their best bet would be the Turbine City or forcefully getting past the zombie's barricade. Both choices would yield them some results, but it won't be an easy task because the number of zombies they'll have to get through is not a mere hundred or two, but ten of thousands.
"What you have in your plan today?" Satella asked. For the previous two days, they've been trying to thin the number of zombies in their surroundings. But their effort seems to be pointless as more zombies gathered around where they're trying to breakthrough.
It was like the zombies knew what the survivors were trying to do and slowly gathered their number to stop them from succeeding.
"Let's attack the same place again today." Zhang Qin Feng said.
Although the attempt to create a breaking point was a failure, it was just on the surface. The survivor has no idea that it was within Zhang Qin Feng's calculation. He knew that breaking through this wall won't be easy, but as long they persisted, the situation will start to change when the time is right.
"Is there something in your mind? We've been attacking that direction for the past few days. Each time, we're almost getting overwhelmed by the zombies. What are we trying to do at that point, anyway?" Satella asked.
She's curious about Zhang Qin Feng's insistence in attacking that direction. Although that direction could lead them to a nearby area located slightly higher than where they're at right now, that was all to it.
In Satella's mind, getting a new place to establish their Wind Base is not their priority, but survival is. She knew that Zhang Qin Feng capable of sourcing food without a problem, but there's still a limit to it. Like a human's hidden potential, it would be exhausted if they exploited it without control.
"I want us to get a proper place that can be our foundation for the long run. Do you remember the building distribution map we've got before this?" Zhang Qin Feng pinched Satella's nose while he's replying to her question.
To her surprise, the reason that motivates Zhang Qin Feng to focus their attack in this direction was as simple as that.
Of course, that's because she had no idea of Stein's existence within Zhang Qin Feng.
While the piece of information was just something useless in Satella's eyes, it was a treasure to Zhang Qin Feng and Stein. What so attractive over there wasn't because of its positioning, but the foundation they laid.
That place was designed to be self-sustainable. Although it was far from completion, it was still about 70% complete based on Stein's estimation. If they could take over this location and fortify it, this place would be the lifeline to the survivor around this Shangwen area.
Perhaps in the eyes of the survivors like Satella, having a base like this was a liability. But in Zhang Qin Feng's case, it was an entirely different story. Since he was brought here to bring life back to this world, he should make the best of what he had.
"What is there any way to make you so interested in it?" Satella asked. She studied the map with Zhang Qin Feng before but found nothing special from it. Except for its strategic location that easy to defend and hard to attack, that place seems to have nothing attractive going on.
"This place can be developed into another Turbine City as long we're willing to invest all we got. This place will be our shortcut to clear the Strand Metropolis." Zhang Qin Feng said.
"What? You're crazy, Feng... Even handling Turbine City is hard enough, and you've started to look at Strand Metropolis already?" Satella pouted. She felt that this man in front of her was not a docile herbivore but an ambitious lion.
