Chapter 894 - 893: Peculiar Crystal

  • Next Chapter

Although Yu Sheng felt Erin's so-called "research" was quite unconvincing, when leaving the Hilly Land, he still had the Little Puppet collect several crystal fragments—not because he truly believed the little thing had any research capabilities, but because he thought he might be able to discover something himself.

After all, if these crystals were really all formed from the dragon's remains, then it actually aligns a bit with his expertise.

Thus, Yu Sheng and Erin gathered several fragments of various sizes around the crystals. Lucrecia also collected some field data near the crash point, and then the group returned through the gate to the temporary camp located at the foot of the Angel Giant Tree.

At this point, the atmosphere in the camp had returned to normal. The crystal's fall didn't seem to have brought too much impact, though occasionally people would look in the direction where the crystal fell, murmuring and speculating about what had happened.

Little Red Riding Hood rode her Shadow Seat Wolf and came up, curious to ask about the situation, "You're back? What's the situation over there?"

"A giant crystal fell from the sky—preliminary judgment is that it should also be the historical shadows transformed from the Boundary Land faults, and clues point to Baili Qing's Hometown World..."

Yu Sheng roughly described the situation in the Hilly Land but did not detail what he saw in the illusion. After finishing, he raised one shoulder, pointing to Erin sitting on his shoulder, "She's holding in her arms the sample fragment we picked up on-site."

The Little Puppet was sitting on Yu Sheng's shoulder, still holding the first crystal she picked up—whether it was because she thought it looked good or for some other reason, she treasured this crystal immensely. The other crystals were now kept in Hu Li's tail, but this one she hadn't let go since picking it up.

Noticing Little Red Riding Hood's gaze, Erin hugged her treasure tightly, "My precious! My precious—"

Yu Sheng was annoyed, "Don't make sounds like that, or you'll end up in a volcano's crater."

Erin laughed sillily, then knocked the crystal on Yu Sheng's head, "But seriously, this thing has been steadily releasing some kind of energy... Although there's completely no life reaction, it always feels like it's still... active? Operating? Similar to that feeling, it always feels like it's still active."

Listening to the Little Puppet's ramblings, Yu Sheng wasn't bothered by her knocking the crystal on his head but rather frowned slightly, seemingly deep in thought.

"It always feels different from the 'Angel Relics' we collected before," Erin kept murmuring, "But can't figure out exactly what's different..."

The Little Puppet's chatter inadvertently caused a ripple in Yu Sheng's mind, but it was too weak for Yu Sheng to grasp anything key.

Just then, another cry suddenly came from above, breaking Yu Sheng's train of thought.

"Oh dear—"

The next second, a huge, unknown object plummeted from above, landing on the grass not far from Yu Sheng. When it landed and rolled twice, Yu Sheng realized it was a demon—Snake Princess fell to the ground, nearly turning into a jumbled ball, cursing while squirming.

"What is that silly snake up to now..."

Yu Sheng couldn't help but murmur, quickly jogging toward the grass.

By now, Snake Princess had successfully wrapped herself into a huge snake ball, with her upper human body struggling to emerge from the ball, looking utterly disoriented, but at least not completely dazed, able to recognize people.

Seeing Yu Sheng approach, the giant snake ball immediately squirmed a bit, seemingly trying to perform a courtesy, nearly hitting her head into the mud:

"Greetings, Yu Sheng True Monarch. Pardon this little demon for being tangled and unable to give full courtesy… oh heck, why can't I untangle this..."

Listening, Yu Sheng's veins almost popped. He was just admiring her recent etiquette improvements from following Yun Qingzi in learning, but immediately realized why she often gets beaten up in the valley by Aileen's Army...

Fortunately, Hu Li, a kind-hearted demon fox girl, stepped forward to help untangle Snake Princess while showing concern, "Why did you fall from the tree?"

"I was trying to dig out a bird's nest," Snake Princess said, aggrievedly, "but such a big tree surprisingly doesn't have any bird nests..."

Yu Sheng was stunned for a moment, silently glanced up at the sky-covering Angel Giant Tree, and after holding back, finally said, "There indeed aren't bird nests at the moment, but occasionally a giant dragon might be hanging up there."

Curiously, Snake Princess asked, "Will the dragon build a nest then?"

"Hard to say, better ask Baili Qing," Yu Sheng said with a straight face but suddenly got curious, "Hey, aren't you vegetarian? Why are you digging for bird nests?"

Snake Princess stared with righteous confidence, "Just for fun!"

How to say, her straightforwardness was as bold as Erin's, proving she indeed could blend seamlessly with the Little Puppet's mass-produced army—matching them from individual quality to intelligence. Yet, unfortunately, the valley could not accommodate two tigers, and Snake Princess's overly fierce character doomed the valley to constant turmoil between the Snake Demon and the Puppet Army...

Just then, after finally getting untangled with Hu Li's help, Snake Princess suddenly straightened her upper body and swayed as if sensing something, and her gaze directly fell on what Erin was holding.

A pair of pale yellow pupils slightly contracted, and the snake demon's face showed intense interest, "True Monarch, what is this?"

"Picked it up just now," Yu Sheng said casually, then noticed the expression on the Snake Princess's face and frowned slightly, "Why, have you seen something similar?"

"Yeah, I haven't seen anything like it," the Snake Princess twisted back and forth in front of Yu Sheng—if you had to describe it, this should have been a seductive move, but unfortunately combined with her dazed look and the impression she always leaves as a silly snake, Yu Sheng could only think of a garden eel wobbling in front of him, "It's just that this thing is so full of spiritual power... but it doesn't seem to be spiritual power? Anyway, it feels like a good thing, probably very beneficial for cultivation. True Monarch, where exactly did you pick it up? I want to find one too..."

Erin saw the situation, and immediately hugged the crystal tightly to her chest, making a sound like preparing to fiercely fight with Hobbits and then fall into the Doomsday Volcano: "This is mine—"

"I'm not planning to take it..." the Snake Princess flicked her tongue, "Why are you being so stingy."

Yu Sheng waved his hand at the silly snake: "This is not something you can use for cultivation; this is an 'Angel Derivative' that hasn't been studied properly yet, might be more potent than those Poisonous Fruits you ate back in the day, don't get any ideas about them."

The Snake Princess is a fearless wanderer, but has the utmost reverence for the words "Poisonous Fruit." At Yu Sheng's warning, her whole snake visibly shrank at least by one-fifth, the tip of her tail creating a shadow: "I got it, I got it, definitely won't touch it..."

Yu Sheng nodded, confirmed that everything was normal at the camp, and was ready to head back. However, before leaving, he glanced at the aimless Snake Princess again and couldn't help but remind her: "If you really have nothing to do, you might as well go help on the other side of the river, or help fry two dishes in the canteen, just don't climb the tree anymore—this tree is now the Holy Tree of the Dark Moon People, if you cause trouble again, more than just the puppets in the valley will come after you."

The Snake Princess waved her hand as she crawled away: "Alright, alright... This lady may be a vegetarian, but I am not a 'push-over'..."

Clearly she hadn't listened to a single word.

Yu Sheng looked a bit helplessly at the other person's back, then turned around, opened a door, and went back to No. 66 Wutong Road.

15 minutes later, in the living room of No. 66 Wutong Road, several shining crystals were placed on the coffee table.

Yu Sheng stared at the "samples" on the table, standing beside him were Hu Li, Luna, and Erin, as well as Erin and Erin, along with Zheng Zhi, who was purely here to join the fun.

Lucrecia was not present—Miss Witch said she had her own research ideas, took a piece of crystal sample, and returned to the valley. She set up a "Magic Laboratory" there, and no one understood the equipment inside.

A few drops of fresh blood were dripped onto one of the crystals, and in the blink of an eye, they were completely absorbed.

Zheng Zhi was a bit nervous as he looked at Yu Sheng: "Brother Yu, so, how? Any sensation?"

Yu Sheng gently shook his head.

"I can feel the establishment of a connection, but can't retrieve any useful information, if I must say... it's like smearing blood on a regular stone."

"That shouldn't be the case..." Erin (Lotus Root) scratched her head, "Previously at the crash point, you could see illusions around the crystal, so why is there nothing in the samples picked up now?"

"The illusions I saw were clearly related to the fog around the impact crater, and that fog might not have been generated by the crystals," Yu Sheng stroked his chin, "It's also possible these crystals have different characteristics, not every one holds 'memories', and it might even be related to the scale of the crystals. The samples we have here are all too small... there are too many possibilities."

Hu Li blinked thoughtfully, and just then, she seemed to sense something again, turned around, and grabbed something from her tail.

The next second, two clusters of colorful radiant light flew out from her tail, White Cut and Salt Roasted swirled in the living room, uttering all sorts of chaotic chirps and cackles.

Then they landed on the back of the sofa behind Yu Sheng, fluttering their feathers.

Yu Sheng looked at these magnificent divine chickens and curiously turned to Hu Li: "Why'd you let them out?"

"They suddenly said they were stuffy in the tail," Hu Li replied, "wanted to come out for some fresh air."

"Oh."

Yu Sheng nodded, not paying much attention, knowing that White Cut and Salt Roasted were no longer ordinary birds, can't be kept entirely like chickens, it's quite normal for them to occasionally ask to come out for fresh air.

But then, he suddenly had a feeling, as if he thought of something.

However, at that moment, the sudden ringing of a mobile phone interrupted his thoughts.

Yu Sheng took out his phone and saw Marin's name appear on the screen.

He immediately answered the call.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Yu. I hope I didn't disturb your rest," the elegant and polite voice of Puppet Lady entered Yu Sheng's ears, "There's good news to inform you—the special device for extracting data from Erin's mind is ready."
