Chapter 866: Chapter 865: Missing

The magnificent flying carpet silently glided over the forest sea, with the edge of the carpet shimmering with the spiritual light of a magic shield. Red flew not far above with her giant bat wings spread, surrounded by small bat-like blood-colored shadows as if they were investigating the surroundings.

Erin lay on the edge of the flying carpet, carefully peeking down and muttering, "It looks really scary, whoa, this big pit... whoa, this big mountain... whoa, this big train head... Yu Sheng, Yu Sheng, so many train heads swimming in the forest sea, kinda like garden eels..."

Yu Sheng also peeked below the flying carpet and saw two giant hamsters suddenly stand upright from the forest sea and start fighting. One hamster had a steam train with many carriages in its paw, swinging it like a nine-section whip. The other hamster wielded a church steeple as a sword and used a mushroom as a shield, singing valiantly in the forest, then combined the sword and shield into an axe to chop at the other hamster’s skull.

A melodious and lingering woman’s singing voice resonated through the forest, and then the rolling forest sea swallowed everything, as countless wooden eyes emerged from where the hamster had fallen, staring coldly and hollowly at the sky.

Narrow cracks appeared in the sky, with waving vines hanging down from these gaps, draping around the flying carpet. At the vine tips hung flowers, eyeballs, skeletons, supermarket shopping bags, armed helicopters, and a gas giant with a beautiful ring system–about the size of a basketball.

Star Sea Witch, with a tense face, cautiously navigated the flying carpet through this bizarre and turbulent Angel’s Dream.

Zheng Zhi sat nervously next to Yu Sheng, watching the bizarre forest sea beyond the flying carpet churn drastically every moment. After holding back for a long time, he finally spoke, "I usually only dream about this once every two weeks..."

Erin was amazed, "Whoa, impressive!"

"Tree Angel’s mental state seems unable to hold on much longer," Yu Sheng said, frowning solemnly, "Zheng Zhi, can you still hear ’its’ voice?"

"A little," Zheng Zhi nodded hesitantly while appearing to listen intently, "but it sounds more like sleep-talking... can’t make out what’s being said, kinda like my grandpa muttering in his last few days."

Zheng Zhi’s grandpa appeared on the flying carpet, took a gulp of liquor and two drags of smoke, shaking his head, "No good days left..."

After speaking, the old man jumped off the edge of the flying carpet and, in the forest sea, transformed into a glowing arrow pointing distantly at the mirror rift.

Yu Sheng: "... I can somewhat understand why Tree Angel chose you as its spokesperson."

Zheng Zhi: "...?"

As they spoke, the flying carpet had already passed over the forest’s fluctuation zone and the dangling sky vines. As the surroundings gradually quieted down, the flying carpet eventually arrived over the Great Void.

Here, an invisible force had gouged out a massive chunk of the forest, leaving a bottomless void in the center of the abruptly ended forest sea. A giant mirror rift quietly floated above the void, with the emanating crimson moonlight seemingly tangible, hovering amidst the clouds and mist.

Hu Li stood up from the flying carpet, gazing intently into the distance before suddenly tugging Yu Sheng’s arm, "Savior, over there, it looks like there’s something on the mirror!"

Yu Sheng immediately looked in the direction Hu Li pointed, indeed seeing a faint, almost imperceptible ripple in the previously calm center of the rift, like waves on a lake. The previously stable and continuous moonlight appeared fractured there, forming rings of faults.

"Is that the ’path’ the old tree mentioned?" Erin blinked her eyes and quickly crawled back from the edge of the flying carpet like a big cockroach, grabbing Yu Sheng’s sleeve, "Looks pretty unstable, huh."

"Yeah, the old tree did say this thing isn’t very stable," Yu Sheng nodded, "and judging by its tone, the situation might get more complicated inside... let’s just get closer first."

Lucrecia continued maneuvering the flying carpet carefully, slowly approaching the rippling area, then took out a crystal ball to try divining the trajectory of the actions to come.

Honestly, watching Lucrecia divining trajectory with a crystal ball fits Yu Sheng’s stereotype of a witch, but the Little Puppet took one glance and waved dismissively, "How accurate can that thing be? Check this out."

After speaking, Erin turned her head to give Yu Sheng a sidelong glance, slightly startled, "... Wow!!"

Yu Sheng felt instantly nervous, "What, what is it? Does this death seem particularly tragic?"

"No," Erin’s eyes widened, "I’m surprised you don’t have any sign of disaster this time... if you’re okay, it seems like everyone else will be too."

Yu Sheng: "..."

Holding her crystal ball, Lucrecia gave Yu Sheng a delicate expression, "Uncle Yu... is Erin’s judgment reliable?"

"The bad is more likely to happen than the good, but at least it won’t be too bad." Yu Sheng casually remarked, his gaze lingering on the rippling moonlight.

For some reason, a fleeting moment of deja vu recalled the figure madly running down the hallway, laughing, and shouting crazily in his mind—

"I am the Queen of the Dark Moon Royal Court!!"

Swiftly, Lucrecia folded a paper crane, which fluttered its wings and flew towards the ripples, as if passing through mist, disappearing into the moonlight’s waves.

Moments later, the paper crane returned, appearing unscathed.

Red watched this scene from the side, her face showing hesitation and some resistance, but after a brief pause, she bit her lip, cautiously flying towards the mirror rift, and gently touched the rippling area with her finger.

The ripples expanded slightly, as if making a silent invitation.

"There is indeed a passage within the mirror, but it’s impossible to see its end," she turned to Yu Sheng and the others, nodding slightly, "We..."

A low, distant chime suddenly sounded from the mirror rift. The next second, the rippling moonlight burgeoned dramatically with a bloody glow!

Red sensed the change behind her and seemed to try to dodge to the side hastily, but the rapidly expanding moonlight followed her like a shadow, and in just a moment, she was swept into that ripple.

Red’s figure was instantly absorbed into the mirror. At the last moment, she turned her head towards Yu Sheng, seemingly wanting to say something, and for the first time, Yu Sheng saw this young Vampire girl open her eyes—

Underneath her pale, thin eyelids, two blood-red lights expanded and blossomed, and within Red’s eyes... two small moons floated.

"Help..."

The short syllables vanished into the mirror ripples.

"Follow her!"

Without hesitation, Yu Sheng spoke, and before his words fell completely, Lucrecia was already controlling the flying carpet to dash forward.

The moonlight filled the vision, the undulating curtain transformed into a vast and turbulent light and shadow. Yu Sheng felt as if he had crossed an immense distance and long years in the blink of an eye, and then... he heard the boiling sound of people around him.

People’s voices?

Yu Sheng abruptly opened his eyes, bewildered to find himself standing in a massive plaza.

The ground beneath his feet was paved with vast gray-white stones, the edge of the plaza was lined with neatly towering black pillars, and enormous red drapes hung down from the tops of the pillars, while above them was a dome of energy emitting a faint, hazy glow—

This dome seemed to cover a range far larger than the plaza itself, its edge reaching beyond the end of the visible landscape, and in the sky outside the dome was a strip of red light appearing to pierce the whole world, alongside a dim, orange-yellow glowing rod-like object floating beside the red light, seemingly bringing a dim brightness to this world.

It took Yu Sheng quite a while to realize that the yellow light-emitting rod-like object was actually a distorted sun.

And on the plaza beneath the dome were countless people... innumerable men and women, standing in lines that seemed endless.

To be honest, Yu Sheng had imagined that what he saw after entering the rift might not be the "Red Moon Night" observed outside the rift, and he also thought he might be teleported to some corner or era of the Dark Moon Royal Court, but he never imagined he would see this... an uncountable number of people.

Are these the citizens of the Dark Moon Royal Court? Are all these Red’s compatriots? What place is this?

One question after another appeared in his mind, and then Yu Sheng heard a familiar voice from within the crowd—

"Savior! Savior, we’re over here!"

Yu Sheng immediately looked up and saw a pair of furry pointed ears bouncing above the crowd, along with a conspicuous big tail swaying amidst the gaps between people.

Then a small figure dashed out from underneath the feet of the lined-up crowd and ran swiftly towards him: "Yu Sheng, you’re here!"

Yu Sheng bent down to catch the little puppet rushing towards him (mainly afraid this neurotic fellow might suddenly bash his head into Yu Sheng’s knee mid-run), and then saw Hu Li and several others also walking over.

Yu Sheng noticed that their figures passed directly through the queueing crowd, like passing through an illusion.

Zheng Zhi seemed somewhat nervous as he walked out from the crowd, as if scared of causing unpredictable situations by touching the surrounding people. When he saw those queuing men and women pass through his body like shadows, he widened his eyes in surprise.

"Brother Yu!" Zheng Zhi ran over and said, "Are all these surrounding images an illusion?"

"It seems like that..." Yu Sheng frowned, looking around, "and this place is quite different from the Dark Moon Royal Court I remember."

Erin: "Yeah, I haven’t seen the moon... because it’s daytime?"

Yu Sheng shook his head, not voicing an opinion.

Luna had also come to Yu Sheng’s side but hadn’t spoken, simply looking around as if searching for something.

Seeing this, Erin curiously asked, "C-type buckle, what are you looking for?"

Luna withdrew her gaze: "Red is missing."

Yu Sheng finally realized what had felt off since earlier.

"Oh, right, where’s that mysterious, closed-eyed girl?!" Erin also finally responded, quickly climbing onto Yu Sheng’s shoulder to look around, "Can’t see her anywhere!"

Everyone immediately began searching around, but the passing illusions lined up in the plaza remained unresponsive to their search—for quite a while after everyone gathered up again, it was clear that nothing had been discovered.

"No way, nowhere to be found," Hu Li shook her nose, "can’t even smell her, it’s like she’s never been here."

"Could it be the ’landing point’ isn’t the same place as ours?" Zheng Zhi asked, puzzled.

Lucrecia seemed thoughtful, after a moment she spoke softly: "Hopefully it’s just a spatial distance, not a temporal one..."
