Chapter 835 - 834: A Flash of Blood
Chapter 835: Chapter 834: A Flash of Blood
Yu Sheng’s speculation was quite bold, but given that anything related to the Dark Angel could trigger bizarre scenarios, even Baili Qing agreed with his daring conjecture—
The historical fragments that vanished from the fault crossed the world’s bottom barrier, reorganizing on the Old World side, all triggered by the Tree Angel.
For some unknown reason, the current Tree Angel, though still alive, has fallen into a silent state and no longer responds to external stimuli.
Lucrecia maneuvered her flying carpet around the large mirror fissure for a long time, attempting to find a way to enter or investigate the fissure, yet multiple attempts yielded nothing—a layer of mysterious barrier covered the fissure, like a real mirror blocking external intrusion. Luna’s radar, Hu Li’s Divine Sense, and Lucrecia’s divination could not penetrate this barrier to explore the situation on the other side of the fissure.
And given the many undefined properties of this mirror fissure, the group dared not conduct more violent tests—for instance, when Hu Li tried to launch a Fox Radish Missile at the fissure, Yu Sheng intervened.
After stopping her, Yu Sheng couldn’t help but mumble, pondering why he hadn’t noticed before that this girl actually had a penchant for power, and her first reaction to anything unsolvable was throwing a bomb.
Of course, he himself wasn’t any better. After stopping Hu Li, he pondered the idea of dripping some blood, then threw two Blood Grenades at the fissure...
The Blood Grenades emitted a slight explosion and brilliance, rapidly expanding into two clusters of crimson mist, permeating the fissure’s surface.
However, the two small blood mists didn’t stir any waves in front of the massive fissure; even though the blood mist was quickly absorbed by the mirror, Yu Sheng felt no information coming through.
The other side of the mirror fissure seemed to be just an empty and cold world.
"It looks like conventional means won’t open this thing," Lucrecia remarked thoughtfully as her flying carpet circled back and stopped before the fissure. She noticed Baili Qing had been silent for a long time and casually asked, "What are you thinking?"
Baili Qing hesitated for a moment, then spoke seriously, "I’m wondering... is there only this one ’fissure’ here?"
Yu Sheng raised an eyebrow: "You mean..."
"Among the five council members of the Boundary Council, including myself, apart from Kant and the chairman who are considered ’locals’, each comes from a different... ’place’," Baili Qing explained slowly, "Red comes from the ’Dark Moon Royal Court’, I hail from a civilization ruled by giant dragons, while Kant and the chairman’s homeland is a realm of sword and magic. Fault doesn’t recall where he’s from, but his described memory fragments are distinctly different from ours.
"At least four distinct ’historical samples’ exist within the fault below the Boundary Land."
After taking a pause, she continued, "We previously couldn’t understand what caused these differences, but now we know that the Boundary Land, being a ’Fallen Ark’ crashing from outside the universe into this world, is essentially a fusion sanctuary of multiple world fragments—much like the Endless Sea of yore."
Baili Qing said, her gaze inadvertently falling on Yu Sheng. Though her expression remained unchanged as usual, there seemed to be something subtle in her eyes.
"It’s no big deal, it’s just old news," Yu Sheng waved magnanimously, "I didn’t plan on charging you all tomb rent anyway..."
At the mention of "tomb rent", Baili Qing’s eyebrows twitched a few pixels, while Erin widened her eyes: "Ah, I get what you mean, so besides this piece which might be related to the mysterious closed-eye woman, there must be at least three other fragments related to other council members?"
Baili Qing nodded: "...There’s that possibility."
Yu Sheng subconsciously lifted his gaze, looking out from the flying carpet toward the distance.
On the horizon were only towering, endless bizarre trees.
"In any case, there’s nothing similar to this mirror fragment within visual range, but considering this fragment itself appeared suddenly before us, it’s not ruled out that other fragments may require certain conditions to manifest," Yu Sheng contemplated.
"Whatever the case, this is definitely the work of the old tree," Erin remarked as she rubbed the dusty Omen Wandering Star on the carpet, "Just like Yu Sheng said, maybe it mixed the ’Kingdom’ fragment with what’s in the fault..."
Little Puppet thought about it, then suddenly exclaimed, "Hey, maybe it’s like viewing this big mess at Yu Sheng’s grave as a car crash scene—now that the accidents are sorted, and even the participants have been transferred, the old tree got confused, grabbed a bunch of doors and seats and tires, and started absurdly giving artificial respiration..."
Yu Sheng’s face darkened upon hearing that: "Good analogy, but next time don’t use analogies."
Erin smugly raised her head, as if someone praised her.
Yu Sheng quickly grew serious again, watching the distant landscape within the mirror fissure with a solemn expression before speaking slowly: "...A Dark Angel attempting to perform artificial respiration on a pile of car accident remnants is one thing, but if these remnants indeed start breathing... that’ll really spell trouble."
The Little Puppet paused, then her expression changed: "Oh my Puppet Progenitor! Are you the omen or am I the omen—could you not say such scary things..."
Yu Sheng stroked his chin, "I’m just saying, but the fact remains this fragment clearly has taken shape now... at least, it’s no longer just an intangible shadow as Baili Qing said."
"Savior, I think we need to go back," Hu Li tugged at Yu Sheng’s sleeve, "We can’t open this fissure now, and anything we do is futile. Maybe Red will have a method? After all, this thing should be related to her."
"...Yes," Yu Sheng thought for a moment, then nodded lightly, "Let’s go back first and discuss with the others."
No one raised objections, so Lucrecia started maneuvering the flying carpet, heading towards the grand door standing at the end of the foggy gap in the distance.
Yu Sheng took one last look at the mirror rift standing between heaven and earth, muttering with a bit of sentiment, "Erin’s judgment isn’t always right..."
Erin didn’t hear clearly: "What?"
Yu Sheng shook his head, didn’t say anything, and casually dispersed several blood clusters floating around that he had released earlier for emergencies.
The blood clusters turned into a scarlet mist, quickly diffusing into the air.
The surface of the mirror rift shimmered slightly with red; the blood mist scattered in the air seemed to be drawn by an invisible force and fell into the rift instantly—landing right where Yu Sheng had thrown two blood grenades earlier.
"Blood..."
Yu Sheng suddenly frowned, as if he heard something, but when he turned his head, he found nothing.
"Hungry..."
Yu Sheng was stunned for a moment, turned to look at Hu Li next to him: "Hungry?"
"No, I just ate," the fox girl was a little confused, but quickly rubbed her stomach, "But if there’s food, I could eat more~"
Yu Sheng frowned, then his spiritual intuition suddenly jumped; without having time to think, he felt a chill on his back.
The next second, a strange, forceful impact, seemingly mixed with both cold and heat, erupted from his chest, followed by a sharp piercing pain. Yu Sheng looked down in shock and saw an alien spear, seemingly condensed from blood, piercing through his chest!
There was no warning, no foreboding killing intent, no process of the attack arriving, not even Luna, who always kept her radar on full, realized what had happened before Yu Sheng was already impaled.
"What the hell!!!"
Erin looked up and saw the spear tip emerging from Yu Sheng’s chest was only a few centimeters from her head, and the whole puppet jumped up. Meanwhile, Hu Li had already leaped into the air the moment Yu Sheng was attacked; with a short roar, she transformed into a gigantic Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. Countless ghostly blue fires spread across the sky in an instant—all eyes instinctively turned towards the possible source of the attack, towards that mirror rift.
A red light quickly receded from the surface of the rift.
The next second, several fox tails spewing blue propulsion flames bombarded that rift fiercely, followed by a massive barrage of foxfire and brilliant meteors erupting from the tip of Lucrecia’s magic wand.
The mirror rift’s surface rippled immediately, yet a short time later, all attacks were blocked by a layer of invisible barrier.
Yu Sheng looked back and saw this scene; he only felt a roaring in his brain, countless fragmented pieces of information swirling like a storm in his consciousness.
The next second, he also felt the alien spear penetrating his chest violently vibrating, a force seemingly trying to retract it!
"Retreat, retreat!" Yu Sheng immediately shouted, his voice not loud anymore, but the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox flying in the air immediately ceased its attack, a white shadow swiftly landed on the flying carpet, and Hu Li, returning to human form, cradled the fallen Yu Sheng in her arms, furry big tails wrapping around from all sides.
"Savior, aren’t we fighting?"
Erin quickly ran over as well, little puppet grabbing Yu Sheng’s face, looking anxious: "Say something, say something—"
"First, I came across something good, I fear if I die, this thing will be taken back," Yu Sheng gasped for breath, raising his hand to tightly grasp the bloody spear tip in his chest, "Secondly, we still don’t understand the exact situation with this rift; if we keep attacking, you might even revive it with shock..."
Upon hearing this, Lucrecia immediately stopped the attack as well, starting to accelerate the flying carpet towards that grand door.
Erin lifted a little hand, desperately slapping Yu Sheng’s face: "And? Anything else to say?"
"And, and..." Yu Sheng’s vision was already blurring, but he saw that triangular door standing not far away, and in his gradually fading consciousness, he thought of something important, and couldn’t help but smile, "Oh right, my hair’s going to grow back..."
Erin: "...You’re freakin’ crazy!"
