Chapter 1258: Chapter 566: Traitors Must Die!

This was the little gadget the Mushroom Merchant had recently tinkered out; Miser was getting more and more addicted to monitoring, and simply buried his main body deep beneath the territory. His immense mycelium network, like the nervous system of the Earth, covered every inch of the land and even extended into the mist.

Any creature that stepped onto this "mycelium carpet"—its weight, Magic Power fluctuations, physical condition, even emotional state—would be captured and fed back by the mycelium.

On the sand table, the green light representing Elda stayed calm as usual.

Meanwhile, at the eastern edge of the mist, a constantly flickering, ominous crimson light was moving toward the inside of the territory at a steady speed.

"What about its exact strength?"

"Let me see..."

The Mushroom Merchant’s voice rang out again, providing a more detailed analysis:

"On the surface, its strength is at Legendary Peak. In its aura there’s death, order, slaughter... I’m guessing it’s a ’Legendary Heroic Spirit’, probably from that Heroic Spirit warband you talked about?"

Sofia’s lips curved into a barely noticeable, icy arc.

As expected, they still came.

"Everyone, execute Plan One as previously arranged."

Her voice, through the Heroic Spirits’ unique mental link, clearly transmitted into the consciousness of every combat Heroic Spirit.

"Let him in, cut off his retreat."

"Archers, prepare ’Silent Arrows’. Warriors, occupy the ’node’ positions."

"Without my order, do not expose yourselves, do not engage."

The orders were executed swiftly and silently.

On the sand table, dozens of smaller blue points representing their own units began to flow like water to both sides and the rear of the crimson point’s advance route, quickly forming an invisible yet lethal net.

Tata watched all this from the treetop; it could feel the presence of those Heroic Spirit Warriors hiding in the shadows, in burrows, even in the fluctuations of the air.

They seemed to have merged into the environment itself, their killing intent reined in to the extreme; only the most primal hunting instinct continued to flow silently.

"Seriously... what a terrifying bunch."

Tata muttered, the tip of its tail gently swaying as it overlooked the whole scene from on high, waiting to watch the upcoming drama like a bystanding melon-eater.

Fortunately, the actors on stage did not keep it waiting for long.

The uninvited guest was the first to expose his position.

Several hundred meters outside the border of Elda Territory, the mist was forcibly parted by a brutish force, revealing a tall, imposing Heavy Armor figure.

Boom!

A Heroic Spirit straight out of every Legendary and Epic description, a classic Heavy Armor Warrior image.

He was over two and a half meters tall, his entire body wrapped in thick, ancient, unadorned dark metal armor, the plates carved all over with dim, ancient runes.

There was no mount beneath his crotch, but every step he took on the ground triggered a dull rumble, as if he himself were a moving mountain range.

He wore a helmet; beneath the Face Mask, only two points of ice-blue Soul Fire burned, locked onto that peaceful territory ahead.

In his hand he gripped an absurdly long lance wrapped in dark-red energy patterns. The lance tip pointed at the ground; wherever it passed, grass withered and soil turned char-black.

"Traitors..."

A roar like grinding metal burst out from behind the Face Mask, shaking the air and shattering the long-maintained tranquility of the territory.

In that voice was endless fury and a desecrated faith.

"Shame! Thieves! In the name of the legion, I hereby declare the end of the traitors!"

No warning, no more useless talk.

The Legendary Heroic Spirit Warrior raised his lance high, pouring his entire strength without reservation into the weapon in his hand.

Hum!

The dark-red energy patterns instantly lit up, blazing as hot and glaring as molten lava. The destructive energy ripples twisted and ionized the surrounding air, producing crackling explosions.

In that moment, his terrifying aura swelled; even within the thick mist it shone like a lighthouse in the night.

He knew the enemy would definitely notice his presence, knew he brought death and judgment.

But he no longer bothered to conceal himself.

At this distance, even if the enemy reacted, it would already be too late.

Even Tata, far away on the treetop, blinked; its claws were itching again as it muttered, "Hu-moh, that’s quite a scary show of force."

The next moment, Gall, with the posture of hurling a mountain, violently hurled that lance—now turned into a blood-colored streak of light—toward Elda!

"Traitors must die!"

Swish!

The lance tore through the air with an ear-splitting shriek, trailing a long dark-red tail, like a meteor of vengeance falling from the heavens, carrying the might to annihilate everything as it shot straight at its target!

This full-powered strike was enough to easily pierce city walls, destroy towns, and wipe that traitor-built territory off the map.

Tata’s body tensed again. Though it knew Elda was already on guard, it was still unsure if those people led by Sofia could block such a blow.

Should I lend a hand?

But even if the others can’t block it, that redhead who’s been eating the whole time definitely can.

Tata’s hesitation was unnecessary.

There was no need at all for Valentina to take the field.

Just as the blood-colored lance was about to touch those seemingly harmless fences at the outermost edge of the territory—fences dotted with glowing mushrooms—something sudden happened.

Centered on Elda, countless intricate, precise Magic runes radiating pale blue light flared to life on the ground within a hundred-meter radius!

These runes connected and wove together, forming in an instant a half-transparent rune barrier like an upside-down giant bowl, covering the entire core territory.

This was the protective array Fremay had personally inscribed when she visited Elda in her spare time, drawing on the Water Element Magic Power in the nearby sea to continuously supply it with energy.

Afterward, with Miser and the others constantly adding to it, the power of the protective array had been reinforced; stopping a Legendary’s attack for a short time was simply no problem.

The blood-colored lance slammed hard into the barrier.

There was no earth-shattering explosion, no frenzied clash of energies.

Only a dull, strange sound, as if cloth were being torn, yet also like a deep-sea behemoth sighing.

Chi——

The dark-red energy that could destroy a mortal city began rapidly dissolving and vanishing the instant it touched the pale blue barrier, like ice and snow meeting scorching sun.

The brilliant light on the lance itself dimmed quickly; its runes went out one after another. In the end, the metal shaft, stripped of all momentum and Magic Power, rapidly decayed like ordinary iron.

With a clatter, the rusted lance dropped weakly onto the grass in front of the barrier, scattering a few clods of dirt before quickly crumbling and turning entirely to ash.

And the barrier that had blocked the lance’s strike didn’t budge an inch; hardly a ripple even appeared. Its pale blue radiance shone steadily, as if silently mocking the intruder’s overconfidence.

The ice-blue Soul Fire of the Legendary Heroic Spirit flickered violently for the first time.

"What!!?"

Clearly, the scene before his eyes was completely beyond his expectations.

According to the information he had, Elda was just a hideout established by a bunch of traitors. Though it had a few strong fighters, and they’d taken down that Three-headed Chimera, since when did they possess such a powerful Defense Array?

"He must be really confused right now, hehe~"

Miser watched the Legendary Heroic Spirit’s reaction through the mycelium, smiling squint-eyed as he said, "We can’t see his expression, but his Soul Fire is shaking. I’m worried he might get scared to death~"

"Heh."

Sofia didn’t respond to the Mushroom Merchant’s commentary. Her gaze remained icy as she stared through the sand table at that crimson point, now briefly frozen after his all-out strike had been so easily neutralized.

"Do it."

She gently breathed out the command.

Almost the instant Sofia’s order was given, the "calm" around the Heavy Armor display was completely shattered.

Dozens of emerald-green arrows shot out from shadows in all directions like vipers, descending in front of him in an instant.

These arrows were not aimed at his vital points, but precisely at the space around his body and the gaps at his armor joints.
