Chapter 78: Perfect Elixir

Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Perfect Elixir

"It’s a success!"

With a cry of alarm, Dan Jiu, infinitely more excited than Yi Xiaoyao, began to shake him frantically.

Yi Xiaoyao quickly retracted his Flame and steadied Dan Jiu, saying, "Senior, please don’t get so excited."

"How could I not be excited! Someone can finally use my Pill Formulas! The legacy of my Alchemy Skill can finally see the light of day!"

With that, Dan Jiu pulled Yi Xiaoyao along. "Quick! I will teach you the Alchemy Skill! I’m going to make you the number one Alchemist in the world!"

"Because my Pill Formulas are all Ancient Pill Formulas, lost for ten thousand years! The Elixirs you refine will be the strongest and most unique in existence!"

"When that time comes, everyone in the world will beg you to perform Alchemy for them! Even the supreme experts at the very pinnacle will try to curry favor with you... And I will be the Alchemy Master of you, the world’s number one Alchemist!"

Listening to Dan Jiu’s grand ambitions, Yi Xiaoyao felt a faint sense of anticipation grow in his heart. He immediately clasped his fist and bowed.

"I, Yi Xiaoyao, wish to take you, Senior, as my master in the Alchemy Dao!"

"Good!"

Dan Jiu, his face beaming with joy, helped Yi Xiaoyao up and began to explain the ways of the Alchemy Dao.

Yi Xiaoyao was naturally gifted and intelligent. When Dan Jiu taught him the Alchemy Skill, he could grasp it after just one explanation.

Moreover, Dan Jiu’s Alchemy Skill was an Ancient Alchemy Method from the Ancient Immortals, far more profound than the Alchemy Skills of the present day. Yi Xiaoyao was completely stunned as he listened.

The two of them felt as if they had met too late in life, talking for hours on end without even noticing the time pass.

After teaching Yi Xiaoyao the most basic Alchemy Skills, Dan Jiu said, "On the path of Alchemy, one learns the methods more through practice. Now, follow what I’ve taught you and start refining an Elixir."

Yi Xiaoyao nodded in agreement, ignited the Seed of Heaven and Earth, and began the Alchemy process according to an Ancient Pill Formula Dan Jiu had given him.

Meanwhile, Dan Jiu explained the Elixir grades from the side. "What you’re refining now is a Tier-1 Elixir, suitable for those in the Qi Condensation Realm. Tier-2 Elixirs are for the Foundation Establishment Realm, and so on. The higher the tier of the Elixir, the greater the difficulty to refine."

"Each tier of Elixir has four qualities: Low-grade, Mid-grade, High-grade, and Top-grade."

"A Low-grade Elixir has one Pill Pattern and contains forty percent impurities. A Mid-grade Elixir has two Pill Patterns and thirty percent impurities. A High-grade Elixir has three Pill Patterns and twenty percent impurities. And a Top-grade Elixir has four Pill Patterns, with only ten percent impurities."

As he spoke, Yi Xiaoyao’s expression suddenly changed. A huge BOOM erupted from the Pill Furnace.

This was a furnace explosion caused by a failed refinement, a very common occurrence.

Dan Jiu wasn’t annoyed. He simply had Yi Xiaoyao start a new refinement.

After starting a new batch, Yi Xiaoyao asked a question based on the previous topic, "Master, are there no Elixirs without any impurities?"

"Impurity-free Elixirs are merely a legend in the Alchemy Realm. They don’t exist," Dan Jiu said, shaking his head.

Yi Xiaoyao nodded. With the experience from the previous furnace explosion, he controlled the heat for this batch of Elixirs with extreme care.

Soon, waves of Pill Fragrance began to emanate.

Finally, the Elixir was formed.

"What? Apprentice, you’re so talented you actually refined an Elixir on your second try!"

Dan Jiu exclaimed in disbelief, "You have to understand, even Alchemists with incredible skill in the Alchemy Dao will blow up their furnaces hundreds of times when they’re just starting out!"

Yi Xiaoyao was also surprised by the result, raising an eyebrow. ’I wonder what quality of Elixir I managed to make on my first successful attempt.’

"Apprentice, don’t be impatient. Creating a One-Stripe Elixir on your first success is already excellent. Everything is a gradual process..."

Dan Jiu comforted Yi Xiaoyao while opening the furnace to retrieve the Elixir. But when he saw the Elixir inside, his words caught in his throat, and he sucked in a sharp breath.

"This is..."

Dan Jiu took out the Elixir Yi Xiaoyao had refined, placed it in his trembling hand, and swallowed hard.

Yi Xiaoyao also looked over curiously and counted the Pill Patterns on it.

"One, two, three, four... five! Five Pill Patterns?" Yi Xiaoyao asked in confusion. "Master, didn’t you say that even the best Top-grade Elixirs only have four Pill Patterns?"

At this moment, Dan Jiu was so excited he could barely breathe. He gasped, "You... you actually refined the legendary impurity-free Perfect Elixir!"

Yi Xiaoyao was also stunned. Dan Jiu had just said that impurity-free Elixirs were the stuff of legend and didn’t actually exist.

And yet, he had refined this Perfect Elixir on only his second attempt!

If the elder of the Seven Kills Star Hall’s Pill Hall knew that Yi Xiaoyao had refined a Perfect Elixir, his eyes would probably pop out of his head in shock, saving Yi Xiaoyao the trouble of gouging them out himself.

In truth, neither Dan Jiu nor Yi Xiaoyao realized that this wasn’t just due to Yi Xiaoyao’s immense talent or the fact that the Seed of Heaven and Earth’s refining effect far surpassed that of an ordinary Pill Fire. There was another critical factor: the Alchemy Skill he used was the Ancient Alchemy Method, and he was refining according to Ancient Pill Formulas.

The reason Perfect Elixirs no longer existed in the present day was because the refinement techniques had been lost. In the Ancient Era, however, they had existed.

After a moment of celebration, Yi Xiaoyao began to refine his third batch, then his fourth...

Gradually, Tier-1 Elixirs no longer posed any challenge to Yi Xiaoyao, so he began refining Tier-2 Elixirs meant for the Foundation Establishment Realm.

Because Alchemy was also closely related to one’s Cultivation, the highest Yi Xiaoyao could currently refine was a Tier-2 Elixir.

The two of them performed Alchemy in the room for three days without setting foot outside, until all of Dan Jiu’s Alchemy Materials were completely used up.

At this moment, Yi Xiaoyao was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed, resting, while Dan Jiu stared at the dozens of Elixirs on the table, his eyes shining.

These dozens of Elixirs were all Five-Stripe Perfect Elixirs. So many legendary, impurity-free Elixirs would surely cause a sensation in the Alchemy Realm if they were ever revealed!

"For me, Dan Jiu, to have taken on such a monstrously talented apprentice... the heavens are truly watching over me! HAHAHAHA..."

Hearing Dan Jiu’s laughter, Yi Xiaoyao opened his eyes and stood up.

"Master, I’m sorry. I’ve used up all of your materials," Yi Xiaoyao said apologetically.

Dan Jiu was grinning from ear to ear. "What are a few materials? A single one of the Elixirs you’ve refined could sell for a sky-high price. You can have as many materials as you want!"

Upon hearing this, Yi Xiaoyao suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, Master. I have to go to the Earth Star Forest for training, so I won’t be able to continue learning Alchemy from you for the time being."

"Of course. Alchemy is merely an aid for Cultivation. I would never hold up your training."

As he spoke, Dan Jiu placed all the Elixirs from the table into a jade box and handed it to Yi Xiaoyao. "Take these Elixirs and use them. If they’re not enough, come find me for more."

Yi Xiaoyao took the jade box, selected ten Elixirs from it, and handed the rest back to Dan Jiu.

"Master, these ten will be enough for me. You should keep the rest."

Dan Jiu didn’t refuse, either. He smiled and said, "Alright. I’ll sell these Elixirs and get you more Alchemy Materials."

The ten Elixirs Yi Xiaoyao took were nine Foundation Pills and one Gold Condensing Pill.

These Foundation Pills were different from ordinary ones. They were refined according to Ancient Pill Formulas, so not only was their appearance and color completely different, but their medicinal effects were also far beyond what a normal Foundation Pill could compare to.

Most importantly, they were Perfect Elixirs with Five Pill Patterns!

As for the Gold Condensing Pill, it could help a Foundation Establishment Realm Cultivator condense a Golden Core and advance to the Golden Core Realm. Yi Xiaoyao had previously heard that Luo Yi was about to advance to the Golden Core Realm, so he planned to give this Perfect Golden Core Pill to her.

At this moment, Yi Xiaoyao didn’t head to the Earth Star Forest immediately. Instead, he directly consumed two Foundation Pills and began to break through to the third level of the Foundation Establishment Realm.

In the short time it takes for an incense stick to burn, a fluctuation pulsed from within Yi Xiaoyao’s body. He had successfully reached the third level of the Foundation Establishment Realm.

This breakthrough felt smoother than any he had ever experienced, precisely because he had consumed Perfect Foundation Pills.

If he had used ordinary Foundation Pills, it would have taken at least a day and dozens of failed attempts.

With this, Yi Xiaoyao finally understood the benefits and preciousness of a Perfect Elixir.

’From now on, my cultivation path will be so much smoother because of this!’

Yi Xiaoyao smiled in satisfaction, then bid farewell to Dan Jiu and truly began his journey to the Earth Star Forest for training.
