Devouring Sword God
Chapter 73: The Seclusion Disturbance
Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The Seclusion Disturbance
’As I thought, combat is the greatest shortcut to improving my Cultivation. I expended a great deal of Sword Qi and Spiritual Power last night, and now that they’ve been replenished, they’re even sharper and more condensed.’
A faint smile touched Yi Xiaoyao’s lips. An ordinary person could never have improved so noticeably from a single battle, but he was different.
The cultivation effects of the Devouring Sword God Technique were something an ordinary person could never comprehend. His cultivation speed was already dozens of times faster than a normal person’s, and with the addition of the Spirit Sword Sheath—something others lacked—that speed was tripled.
However, this also meant that for Yi Xiaoyao, breaking through to the next stage was three times as difficult as it was for an ordinary person.
’The difficulty of breaking through won’t be enough to stop me. Let’s begin.’
With his mind settled, a low hum suddenly emanated from within Yi Xiaoyao’s body. The surrounding Spiritual Qi rushed violently toward him...
At this moment, another scent seemed to have unknowingly mingled with the sweet fragrance already permeating the Cultivation Chamber, but Yi Xiaoyao was completely oblivious.
As Yi Xiaoyao continued Devouring the Spiritual Qi, a scorching power gradually began to accompany it, seeping from his meridians into his body and causing him to grow faintly warm.
Since such a phenomenon was quite common during Cultivation, Yi Xiaoyao didn’t think much of it. A moment later, however, he finally sensed that something was amiss and hastily stopped his Cultivation.
But by now, a restless power on the verge of erupting had spread throughout his body. Despite his attempts to suppress it with his Spiritual Power, it continued to stir restlessly.
Outside the Cultivation Chamber, Shopkeeper Ye stood with a complicated expression, a faint wisp of pink mist wafting from the Jade Bottle in his hand.
’Sigh... Ping’Er has already refused dozens of marriage proposals, but now she’s gone and fallen for this boy. If he leaves, with her stubborn nature, won’t she refuse to marry for the rest of her life?’
As Shopkeeper Ye muttered to himself, the conflict on his face finally resolved into firm determination, as if he had just made an incredibly difficult decision.
’This Yi Xiaoyao isn’t just exceptionally talented, he also has ties to Elder Linjie. I can rest easy if Ping’Er is with him.’
’It’s true that this is unfair to Yi Xiaoyao, but for Ping’Er’s sake... this is my only option.’
With his mind made up, Shopkeeper Ye turned and walked away.
Ye Ping was staring blankly at a table when she heard a voice from behind, snapping her out of her daze.
"Dad, you called for me?"
"Ping’Er, why don’t you take some tea and snacks to Young Master Yi," Shopkeeper Ye said, his expression neutral.
Ye Ping blinked in surprise, then agreed and rose to her feet.
A moment later, the door to Yi Xiaoyao’s Cultivation Chamber was gently pushed open. Carrying a tea tray, Ye Ping glided gracefully into the room.
Seeing Yi Xiaoyao was in the middle of his Cultivation, Ye Ping, blushing slightly, gave him a quick glance, set down the tray, and prepared to leave.
Suddenly, Ye Ping stopped in her tracks and looked back at Yi Xiaoyao with a puzzled expression.
At that moment, Yi Xiaoyao’s face was flushed crimson and covered in sweat. His entire body was trembling, and he seemed to be gritting his teeth, desperately trying to endure something.
"Young Master Yi?"
Ye Ping called out in concern. ’Could he be suffering from a cultivation deviation?’ she wondered.
When Yi Xiaoyao didn’t respond, Ye Ping hurried to his side and gently touched his forehead with her hand.
It was scalding hot, like a raging fire!
「A moment later.」
Yi Xiaoyao abruptly shoved Ye Ping away, sprang to his feet, and burst through the door before the scorching heat could completely overwhelm his Heart Spirit.
Shopkeeper Ye was pacing back and forth in the tavern, his brow deeply furrowed, repeatedly asking himself if what he had done was right or wrong.
Just then, Yi Xiaoyao burst from the inner rooms and shot out of the tavern like a hurricane.
"This..."
Shopkeeper Ye stared blankly at Yi Xiaoyao’s disappearing silhouette. ’Could it be... the dose wasn’t strong enough?’ he wondered in astonishment.
In the Cultivation Chamber, Ye Ping clutched the robe that had been draped over her body. She bit her lower lip as glistening tears welled in her reddened eyes, her gaze filled with utter disappointment.
