Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Choosing Swordsmanship

Yi Xiaoyao paid no mind to Jin Sanbao’s worries.

Ten days was a short time for an ordinary person, hardly enough to accomplish anything, but Yi Xiaoyao was different.

With his Cultivation speed, ten days was more than enough for him to significantly increase his strength.

After returning to the courtyard of their residence, the three of them entered their respective rooms.

Just as Yi Xiaoyao stepped inside, he heard a knock on the door.

He opened the door to find a tall, graceful young woman standing before him.

She looked to be about eighteen or nineteen, with a stunning face and long hair that swayed gently. Her eyes lit up when she saw Yi Xiaoyao, and a bewitching smile graced her lips.

"Well now, my Junior Brother is quite handsome."

Before Yi Xiaoyao could react, the young woman appeared beside him like a wisp of smoke, smiling as she looked at him.

"Junior Brother?" Yi Xiaoyao was taken aback. He didn’t recognize this beautiful and bewitching young woman, but from the look in her eyes, she clearly knew him and held no hostility.

But the instant their eyes met, Yi Xiaoyao’s mind went blank. It felt as if she was the only person in the world, so captivating that he felt willing to do anything she asked.

In the next moment, a clear, crisp sword hum echoed from deep within his unusually powerful soul, jolting him back to his senses.

’What a powerful Charm Technique! Just one look and I almost fell for it without even realizing it.’

Yi Xiaoyao was secretly alarmed. He looked at the bewitching young woman warily and asked, "Who are you?"

Seeing Yi Xiaoyao instantly break free from her charm, the bewitching young woman’s beautiful eyes widened in surprise for a moment.

"You’re actually unaffected by my Charm Technique?" The bewitching young woman then giggled. "You truly are worthy of being the one Master told me to look after."

From her words, Yi Xiaoyao immediately guessed the bewitching young woman’s identity.

"You’re Elder Lin Jie’s disciple?" Yi Xiaoyao asked.

The bewitching young woman nodded with a smile. "My name is Luo Yi, and from now on, I’m your Senior Sister. Master sent me to see if you, my Junior Brother, needed anything."

Yi Xiaoyao quickly addressed her as Senior Sister. And speaking of needs, he did have one.

During the previous gambling match, especially when fighting Sharon, his Angry Wind Sword Skill had been completely countered by his opponent’s Flame Staff Technique. This made Yi Xiaoyao realize that he had far too few Spiritual Skills at his disposal.

"I do need some Spiritual Skills, preferably Swordsmanship."

Yi Xiaoyao didn’t stand on ceremony and said to Luo Yi with a smile.

Luo Yi’s brow furrowed slightly, and she said with a hint of grievance, "Fine. Follow me."

With that, Luo Yi grabbed Yi Xiaoyao’s arm and started walking outside.

Along the way, passing disciples all cast extremely envious gazes toward Yi Xiaoyao.

Luo Yi inexplicably led Yi Xiaoyao to a quaint, ancient-looking pavilion. On the plaque above the entrance were the three large, gilded words: "Star Spirit Pavilion."

"Senior Sister, what is this place?"

Yi Xiaoyao asked, puzzled, as he sized up the pavilion.

"The Star Spirit Pavilion contains countless Spiritual Skills, but you need Star Points to exchange for them. Didn’t you say you needed Spiritual Skills? Let’s go in and take a look," Luo Yi said.

"I need Star Points to exchange for them? But I can’t use my Star Points right now," Yi Xiaoyao said with a wry smile.

Luo Yi glanced at him with her beautiful eyes and pouted her delicate lips. "Don’t worry about the Star Points. Just consider it a welcoming gift from your Senior Sister."

Yi Xiaoyao’s face lit up with joy. "Then thank you very much, Senior Sister! I’ll definitely pay you back in the future!"

As they spoke, the two entered the Star Spirit Pavilion.

Inside the Star Spirit Pavilion were rows upon rows of stone shelves, upon which rested scrolls of Jade Slips. Each Jade Slip recorded a Spiritual Skill.

Yi Xiaoyao casually browsed through them, and his heart was soon in turmoil, like a raging sea.

’Any random Spiritual Skill here costs at least a thousand Star Points to exchange for, and those Xuan-rank Spiritual Skills are even in the tens of thousands!’

No wonder Luo Yi had looked a little aggrieved when he said he needed a Spiritual Skill; they were all so expensive.

"Junior Brother, I have to warn you first," Luo Yi said to Yi Xiaoyao. "Your Senior Sister is a bit tight on funds lately. I only have ten thousand Star Points. If you go over that, I won’t be able to afford it."

Yi Xiaoyao couldn’t help but smile. ’She calls having ten thousand Star Points being tight on funds?’

Shaking his head, Yi Xiaoyao stopped overthinking it and started walking toward the area for Swordsmanship-type Spiritual Skills.

There was a dazzling array of various Swordsmanship techniques, the highest even reaching the High Xuan-rank. However, the required Star Points were also astonishingly expensive, exceeding twenty thousand.

After a quick look around, Yi Xiaoyao found that although he was tempted by many of the techniques, he was not quite satisfied with any of them.

’These Swordsmanship techniques are much stronger than the Angry Wind Sword Skill, but just like it, they all have weaknesses that can be countered.’

In truth, to others, Yi Xiaoyao’s standards were simply too high. Where could one possibly find a Spiritual Skill with no flaws?

Just then, Yi Xiaoyao’s gaze shifted. He walked over to an inconspicuous corner, squatted down, and reached his hand into the shadows of a stone shelf.

When he pulled his hand back out, he was holding two dust-covered Jade Slips between his fingers.

They had clearly been hidden there on purpose.

Judging by the dust on the Jade Slips, no one had looked at them in a very long time.

Blowing the dust away, Yi Xiaoyao curiously examined the Swordsmanship techniques recorded on the Jade Slips.

A moment later, an expression of sheer ecstasy appeared in his eyes.

"Withered Silence Swordsmanship."

"Spirit-Devouring Swordsmanship."

’These are the ones! Although their ranks aren’t specified, their power is definitely not ordinary.’

Yi Xiaoyao clutched the two Jade Slips tightly. Then, as if remembering something, he checked their price.

’They only cost five hundred Star Points each?’

Yi Xiaoyao was astonished. Five hundred Star Points couldn’t even buy a Low Huang-rank Spiritual Skill, yet the Swordsmanship techniques he valued so highly were this cheap.

But on second thought, Yi Xiaoyao felt the price was actually quite reasonable.

This was because both Swordsmanship techniques had major flaws.

To practice the Withered Silence Swordsmanship, a Cultivator needed to possess an overbearing Attribute.

And to practice the Spirit-Devouring Swordsmanship, one needed an absorptive Attribute.

For others, these two requirements were naturally flaws that were difficult to meet. Therefore, no matter how low the price, almost no one could cultivate them.

But for Yi Xiaoyao, these so-called flaws were practically advantages tailor-made for him. ℯℯ𝑙.

Seeing that Yi Xiaoyao seemed to have made his choice, Luo Yi walked over, curious.

"What did you pick? Let me see."

She took the two Jade Slips, and as her beautiful eyes swept over them, her pretty face instantly changed.

"Junior Brother, you don’t have to go this far to save me Star Points! You actually chose these two just because they’re cheap? You can’t cultivate these two Swordsmanship techniques. Put them back, quickly," Luo Yi chided.

Yi Xiaoyao frowned. "Why can’t I cultivate them?"

"These two Swordsmanship techniques are infamous! They were created by the first-generation Hall Master of the Seven Kills Star Hall. Several talented disciples have tried to cultivate them in the past, and they either exploded or withered away and died! A friend of mine died cultivating one of them."

Luo Yi said, her pretty face stern.

Hearing this, Yi Xiaoyao nodded thoughtfully.

Indeed, according to the Jade Slips, if one didn’t meet the two requirements of the techniques, the consequence of forcefully cultivating them would be death by explosion or withering.

But Yi Xiaoyao wasn’t worried. The Power of Destruction and the Devouring Power from his Devouring Sword God Technique were a perfect match for the requirements. Perhaps even the creator of these two Swordsmanship techniques couldn’t compare.
