Chapter 330: Battle of the Illusion Bodies

Chapter 330: Chapter 330: Battle of the Illusion Bodies

High above the Celestial Fire Alliance, two figures faced off, a thousand zhang apart.

Below, the members of the Celestial Fire Alliance all looked up, their faces filled with astonishment.

"Isn’t that Yi Xiaoyao, the one who’s been making a name for himself lately? Why is he confronting our Alliance Leader?"

"You don’t know? That Yi Xiaoyao is challenging our Alliance Leader to a duel of Celestial Fire Illusion Body!"

"What? Yi Xiaoyao learned the Celestial Fire Illusion Body, and it’s already a miracle the Alliance Leader hasn’t done anything to him. How dare he challenge the Alliance Leader with that very technique?"

"He’s completely overestimating himself. Yi Xiaoyao has only known the Celestial Fire Illusion Body for a few months, while our Alliance Leader has mastered it for decades. His skill is perfection. How could Yi Xiaoyao possibly compete?"

"This is like showing off in front of a master—he’s just asking for humiliation!"

Everyone began to murmur, their voices dripping with disdain for Yi Xiaoyao.

But their thoughts were understandable. After all, within the entire Celestial Fire Alliance, no one’s Celestial Fire Illusion Body could compare to Chi Fen’s, let alone that of Yi Xiaoyao, who had only just learned the technique a few months ago.

"Yi Xiaoyao, it’s not too late to regret this. Otherwise, if you lose, you know the consequences," Chi Fen said coldly.

Yi Xiaoyao gave a helpless smile. ’If I want to crush Great Xia, the Celestial Fire Alliance is indispensable. This is my only way.’

’Besides, when it comes to a true contest of the Celestial Fire Illusion Body, I don’t think I’ll necessarily lose.’

’After all, I possess the Heaven and Earth Fire Essence. My control over flames is far beyond that of others. With my current strength, my flame manipulation has already reached an entirely new level.’

’Moreover, my flame is the Nirvana Phoenix Fire, upgraded by the Nirvana Holy Fruit. The stronger the flame, the greater the boost to the Celestial Fire Illusion Body.’

Thus, a wave of confidence rose in Yi Xiaoyao’s heart. He replied, "Alliance Leader Chi Fen, if I lose, I will naturally honor our agreement and go to the Imperial Army Mansion to end my own life and the conflict."

"But if I win, your Celestial Fire Alliance must obey my commands from this day forward!"

As soon as he said this, an uproar erupted among the members of the Celestial Fire Alliance.

The stakes between these two were so high!

However, no one paid any mind to the second half of Yi Xiaoyao’s statement. In their eyes, it was impossible for him to win.

Upon hearing this, Chi Fen let out a faint, cold sneer. "In that case, let’s begin. The first one of us to get hit loses."

"Fine!"

The word had barely left Yi Xiaoyao’s mouth when, in the next instant, his expression changed.

The crowd below also cried out in alarm, "The Alliance Leader has won!"

Just as everyone saw, Chi Fen had somehow appeared behind Yi Xiaoyao and thrown a punch that connected with his body.

But in the next moment, everyone’s expression froze.

Because Chi Fen’s punch had only struck a Flame Illusion Body that Yi Xiaoyao had left behind.

Meanwhile, Yi Xiaoyao’s real body materialized out of thin air in the spot where Chi Fen had originally been standing.

In an incredibly short amount of time, the two had already switched places.

Even some of the stronger experts with high Cultivation hadn’t noticed how it happened.

Let alone those with lower Cultivation. They hadn’t even blinked, their eyes fixed on the two figures above, yet they still had no idea how the two had swapped positions. It was like a mirage.

Because everything that had just happened was simply too fast.

"Very good. Only now are you qualified to compete with me."

Chi Fen spoke indifferently. A thousand Celestial Fire Illusion Bodies then materialized in the space around him, and no one could tell which was his true self.

Yi Xiaoyao’s gaze flickered, and he too summoned forth one Celestial Fire Illusion Body after another, each indistinguishable from him in aura and appearance.

However, the members of the Celestial Fire Alliance below erupted in sneers and ridicule.

Because Yi Xiaoyao had only managed to create about a hundred Celestial Fire Illusion Bodies, reaching only the level of Celestial Fire Hundred Illusions.

"Hmph! He thinks he can fight Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions with mere Celestial Fire Hundred Illusions?"

"It seems this Yi Xiaoyao hasn’t mastered Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions at all. He’s bound to lose now."

"Wait, look!"

Everyone stared intently and discovered that after Yi Xiaoyao used Celestial Fire Hundred Illusions, his Cultivation suddenly surged by three levels. Then, more Illusion Bodies appeared, one after another, until he too reached the level of Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions.

A trace of surprise showed in Chi Fen’s eyes as well. "You’ve only learned the Celestial Fire Illusion Body for a few short months, yet you’ve already reached the level of Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions. Not bad."

"I never thought the first time I’d use Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions would be in a competition against Alliance Leader Chi Fen. In that case, I’m eager to see which of our Celestial Fire Thousand Illusions is superior."

Yi Xiaoyao smiled, then his gaze shifted, and his figure flashed.

In the next instant, the two figures in the sky had once again swapped places at some unknown moment, each shattering one of the other’s Illusion Bodies in the process.

In just a few short moments, they had clashed hundreds of times. Each time, they failed to strike the other’s true body, and each time, one Illusion Body on each side was dispelled.

As a result, the number of Illusion Bodies on both sides decreased rapidly. When one side’s illusions were all shattered, they would surely be defeated.

Everyone below watched with unblinking eyes. The vast majority of them couldn’t follow the two combatants’ trajectories and could only count the remaining number of Illusion Bodies on each side.

"This Yi Xiaoyao is really something. How can he keep up with our Alliance Leader using Celestial Fire Illusion Body for so long?"

"Still, he’s no match for our Alliance Leader in the end. He’s already eighty Illusion Bodies behind. If this keeps up, his defeat is certain!"

"Huh? Look! Yi Xiaoyao is attacking his own Illusion Body!"

Everyone noticed this and wore strange expressions. They thought Yi Xiaoyao had gone mad—he was already behind on Illusion Bodies, yet he was attacking his own.

In the next instant, however, everyone understood.

Because in the instant Yi Xiaoyao attacked his own illusion, Chi Fen suddenly appeared right in front of it, about to be struck by the attack.

"That guy... he can actually predict the position of the Alliance Leader’s Instant Illusion?"

"How is that possible!"

"I think he just got lucky!"

However, at such a critical moment, Yi Xiaoyao would never rely on luck to determine his life or death.

During those hundreds of clashes, Yi Xiaoyao had been at a slight disadvantage, his proficiency not yet matching Chi Fen’s decades of mastery over the Celestial Fire Illusion Body.

But he had just discovered something during the exchange: he could use his Heaven and Earth Fire Essence to easily perceive which bodies were Illusion Bodies formed from flame and pick out his opponent’s true self from among them.

It was just like when he faced the Second Lord, who had been able to lock onto his real body using the Thunder Spider Web.

With this, Chi Fen’s Celestial Fire Illusion Body had lost most of its effectiveness against Yi Xiaoyao.

"You actually..." When Chi Fen realized Yi Xiaoyao’s attack was aimed at him, his expression changed. He hurriedly abandoned his attack on Yi Xiaoyao’s illusion and was forced to swap places with one of his own to evade.

Meanwhile, Yi Xiaoyao effortlessly shattered the Illusion Body Chi Fen had left behind and grinned with a cunning glint in his eyes.

What happened next left everyone shocked and bewildered, as the situation, in which Chi Fen had held a clear advantage, began to reverse.

As Yi Xiaoyao and Chi Fen continued to use Instant Illusion, Yi Xiaoyao was somehow able to predict Chi Fen’s position and movements every single time, easily intercepting him and shattering the Illusion Body he was forced to create in defense.

The number of Chi Fen’s Illusion Bodies in the void plummeted at an astonishing rate. Eventually, all of his illusions were destroyed, leaving only his true body exposed.

"How is this possible!"

Chi Fen was both shocked and frantic. He now had nowhere left to hide. Defeat was his only possible outcome.

Meanwhile, Yi Xiaoyao still had several hundred Illusion Bodies remaining.
