Chapter 228: Chapter 228: I Am a Sword Cultivator

"Making up excuses?" Yi Xiaoyao raised an eyebrow, then immediately understood what the guard implied.

He then said to the guard, "Believe it or not, I’m here to deliver a gift to Yun Mengling. Please announce me."

"Another one delivering a gift." The guard shook his head and chuckled. "You’re quick to change your story. But countless people like you come to deliver gifts every day. You don’t expect me to announce every single one, do you?"

The guard then gestured with his chin toward the black-robed youth beside Yi Xiaoyao. "See? He’s here to deliver a gift to Miss Yun, too."

The black-robed youth’s brow furrowed. "What do you mean by that? How dare you compare me to a nobody like him!"

As he spoke, the black-robed youth sized up Yi Xiaoyao.

"Kid, I’ve never even seen or heard of you before. But just one look at that getup tells me you’re a complete lightweight!"

"A piece of trash like you dares to come here and give Miss Yun a gift? Let me tell you, my young master is already engaged to her! Miss Yun is not someone you can even dream of getting close to. Scram if you know what’s good for you!"

The black-robed youth circled Yi Xiaoyao before stopping to stand in front of him, looking down his nose with a face full of arrogance.

Yi Xiaoyao’s expression turned cold as he stared into the black-robed youth’s eyes. The icy glint in his gaze made the youth’s heart shudder.

"Still haven’t scrammed? If you don’t, I’ll break both your legs for my young master!" the black-robed youth roared.

Yi Xiaoyao’s eyes narrowed, and his Killing Intent instantly enveloped the youth. "You?" he asked, his voice frigid.

The youth broke out in a cold sweat, once again staggered by the sheer force of this Killing Intent. ’How many people did he have to kill to gain such a murderous aura?’

However, within that Killing Intent, he also sensed Yi Xiaoyao’s Cultivation: First Realm of Nascent Soul. A level lower than his own.

"Hmph! Still trying to act tough!"

The next moment, the black-robed youth unleashed the power of his Second Realm Nascent Soul Cultivation and swung his arm at Yi Xiaoyao.

BANG!

The youth’s arm, coursing with Spiritual Power and powerful enough to shatter a thick wall, came to a sudden halt right before Yi Xiaoyao’s chest.

CRUNCH... CRUNCH... CRUNCH...

A series of sickening crunches echoed as Yi Xiaoyao’s hand clamped down on the youth’s arm in a death grip. Beneath his five fingers, the arm, like a bundle of dry straw, was crushed until the bones shattered and it bent at an unnatural angle.

"AAAAAHHHH..."

The youth’s face turned crimson and twisted in agony, veins bulging on his neck as he let out an unending scream.

Killing Intent flickered across Yi Xiaoyao’s face. "You were going to break my legs?" he said, his voice like ice.

"Then I’ll start by breaking yours, and then I’ll take your life!"

With a cold cry, Yi Xiaoyao swept his leg out. Wrapped in tyrannical Spiritual Power, the kick was guaranteed to snap both of the youth’s legs.

But just then.

"Stop!"

A shout echoed from within the City Lord’s Mansion. A burly, armored man charged out, striking at Yi Xiaoyao to stop him.

Hearing the whistle of air beside him, Yi Xiaoyao sensed the incoming attack. He kicked the black-robed youth away and spun around just in time to meet the armored man’s punch with his own.

DONG!

The two fists collided violently, unleashing a shocking ripple of force.

Their fists were locked in a stalemate. Neither man budged an inch, and neither could force the other to retreat in the slightest.

’Fifth Realm Nascent Soul... and a Body Refiner!’

Yi Xiaoyao’s gaze sharpened. The armored man he was fighting was a Body Refiner with astonishing Physical Strength, and his Cultivation was at the Fifth Realm of the Nascent Soul Realm.

Back in the Great Shang Dynasty, Yi Xiaoyao could have easily killed a cultivator at the Fifth Realm of Nascent Soul, yet here and now, he was locked in a stalemate with one.

Moreover, Yi Xiaoyao realized this man was likely the Guard Captain. In the Great Shang Dynasty, an expert at the Fifth Realm of Nascent Soul was powerful enough to be a Sect Leader or an elder, but here... he was merely a Guard Captain!

’As expected of the Great Xia. Nascent Soul Realm cultivators are everywhere, and at the same Realm, they’re far stronger than the cultivators of the Great Shang Dynasty.’

Yi Xiaoyao couldn’t help but marvel inwardly as he looked at the armored man before him.

Meanwhile, the armored man was utterly aghast.

’This kid... he can actually match my punch?’

’He was a Body Refiner with immense Physical Strength! Most cultivators at the Same Realm couldn’t even stand against him, yet the one before him now was just a boy at the First Realm of the Nascent Soul Realm!’

This was a great blow to the armored man’s pride. The next instant, the muscles in his right arm bulged, and the power behind his fist surged as he tried to blast Yi Xiaoyao away.

"Hmph!" Yi Xiaoyao sneered. A raging Flame instantly erupted over his right arm, and the terrifying power blasted out with his punch.

BOOM!

An earth-shaking explosion erupted. The incredible explosive force behind their fists sent both men stumbling backward.

Thump, thump, thump!

The armored man stumbled back three steps before the guards behind him caught and steadied him.

Thump, thump!

Yi Xiaoyao took two steps back.

The two men locked eyes, oblivious to the fact that the other guards and the black-robed youth—now collapsed and vomiting blood—were staring at them with wide, dumbfounded eyes.

"You’re no match for me. It wouldn’t be hard for me to kill you, but I have no desire to do so."

Yi Xiaoyao said this to the armored man nonchalantly. After all, the man was from the City Lord’s Mansion, and he didn’t want to make a bad first impression on Yun Mengling’s family.

The armored man was still in shock, but hearing Yi Xiaoyao’s words, his shock instantly turned to rage.

Never in his life had someone with a far lower Cultivation spoken to him like that. It was a flagrant insult.

Although he had been at a disadvantage in their exchange, the armored man knew he hadn’t yet used his full strength.

The next moment, the ground beneath the armored man’s feet cracked. He shot toward Yi Xiaoyao like a cannonball, his Momentum even more astonishing than before.

Yi Xiaoyao snorted. The Flame on his right arm blazed even more intensely as a layer of dark Sword Qi Scale Armor materialized over it, and he met the incoming punch head-on.

BOOM!

After the explosion, Yi Xiaoyao remained standing firm, though his arm was slightly numb.

The armored man, however, was blasted backward again. Bloody gashes from the Sword Qi now marked his arm, the blood instantly seared dry by the intense Flame.

"Again!"

The armored man roared, his face a mask of indignation, and prepared to charge at Yi Xiaoyao once more.

Suddenly, an icy voice cut through the air.

"I am a Sword Cultivator."

Yi Xiaoyao gazed indifferently at the armored man, his hand already resting on the hilt of the longsword at his back.

The armored man froze mid-step, clearly understanding the implication of those words.

’A Sword Cultivator’s most powerful Techniques are in their Swordsmanship. Yet Yi Xiaoyao had already forced him back multiple times without even drawing his blade. What did that imply?’

’Clearly, if he attacked again, the moment Yi Xiaoyao drew his sword, it would be about much more than just being pushed back.’

Yi Xiaoyao paid no mind to the expression on the armored man’s face. He simply turned and walked toward the black-robed youth he had kicked away earlier.
