Devouring Sword God
Chapter 190: Get Out
Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Get Out
On a quiet, secluded hillside, a beautiful couple sat nestled together under the moonlight.
"Xiaoyao, are you planning to have me go back?"
Yun Mengling rested her head on Yi Xiaoyao’s chest, her beautiful eyes shimmering as she spoke.
She could tell that the only reason Yi Xiaoyao had told Yun Shang to return in seven days was to spend this time quietly with her before they had to part.
Yi Xiaoyao inhaled the faint, sweet scent of the young woman in his arms, his gaze distant. Asking Yun Mengling to stay for another seven days was already a selfish decision. How could he be even more selfish and keep her in the Great Shang Dynasty forever?
Besides, he knew he didn’t yet possess the strength to truly keep Yun Mengling by his side.
"Ling’Er, you’re so exceptional. When you go back, I bet a lot of men will be chasing after you. The pressure on me is immense," Yi Xiaoyao said teasingly.
Yun Mengling couldn’t help but chuckle. "Are you jealous? Well then, you’d better work hard."
As she spoke, she raised a small, encouraging fist at Yi Xiaoyao.
"Of course. It won’t be long before I come for you," Yi Xiaoyao said with a smiling nod.
"Okay! I’ll wait for you!"
Yun Mengling nodded emphatically. She believed Yi Xiaoyao would definitely come to her clan to find her, and that it would be very soon.
"And when that time comes, no one will be able to keep us apart."
The two of them sat just like that on the grass, leaning quietly against each other and savoring this rare moment of tranquility.
The moon was exceptionally beautiful that night, the sky filled with a sea of stars. Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling sat under the starlight, watching vast clouds of fireflies drift by, committing this perfect memory to heart.
Neither of them had ever felt time pass so quickly. Seven days flew by in the blink of an eye. It seemed all beautiful things were just as fleeting.
On the seventh day, Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling arrived at the appointed place. Seeing Yun Shang’s figure waiting in the distance, both their hearts sank.
’It’s time to part.’
"Xiaoyao, you stole my first kiss, so you’re not allowed to ever get rid of me! If you don’t come for me, I’ll wait for you my whole life!"
Yun Mengling stood on her tiptoes to give Yi Xiaoyao a quick kiss, then flashed a brilliant smile before turning and jogging away. The very instant she turned, a single, crystalline tear seemed to escape from her smiling eyes and trace a path down her cheek.
As he felt her soft, small hand slip from his grasp, Yi Xiaoyao couldn’t help but take a few steps after her, unable to bear their parting.
In the ruins where they had fought before, Yun Shang had already been waiting for some time. Over the past few days in the Great Shang Dynasty, she had gathered a complete picture of who Yi Xiaoyao was.
After all, throughout the entire Great Shang Dynasty, Yi Xiaoyao’s name was simply too renowned. Even if Yun Shang hadn’t wanted to find out about him, she would have heard it all anyway.
Everywhere she went, people were talking about Yi Xiaoyao.
’Hmph! Having this kind of power in the Great Shang Dynasty might be astonishing here, but where I come from, it’s nothing!’
Even though she had lost to Yi Xiaoyao, Yun Shang’s heart was still filled with disdain. She just wanted to get Yun Mengling and leave, never again setting foot in this pathetic little place where she had been so humiliated.
When Yun Shang saw Yun Mengling approaching, she breathed a sigh of relief. ’It seems this Yi Xiaoyao knows his place. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even know what hit him when he died.’
"Yun, take the Young Miss and go on ahead. I’ll be right there," Yun Shang instructed the maidservant behind her.
Yun Mengling was startled for a moment, but she wasn’t too worried. After all, Yun Shang was no match for Yi Xiaoyao, and he had promised her he wouldn’t kill her cousin.
Yi Xiaoyao was gazing longingly at Yun Mengling’s departing figure when he noticed Yun Shang walking toward him. His brow furrowed slightly.
"Is there something else?"
"I just wanted to give you a few words of warning."
Yun Shang looked at Yi Xiaoyao, her tone cold as she continued, "Whatever relationship you had with my cousin Meng Ling in the past, I advise you to give up on that notion from now on. You two are not people of the same world. A Simurgh Phoenix is never destined to be with a Cold Crow."
Yi Xiaoyao was already in a foul mood, and her words ignited his fury. A single, bone-chilling word escaped his lips.
"Scram!"
An icy glare accompanied the word, piercing straight into Yun Shang’s eyes.
Seeing that Yi Xiaoyao had not only completely disregarded her words but had also been so insolent, Yun Shang’s expression turned frigid.
"Heh, Yi Xiaoyao, is it? I know you’re quite famous in the Great Shang Dynasty, but this is *only* the Great Shang Dynasty. If you’re ever lucky enough to step outside this backwater hole, you’ll learn that you are nothing!"
But Yun Shang had no intention of stopping there.
"Furthermore, even if you and Cousin Meng Ling are in love now, as the gap between your statuses widens, the chasm between you will become insurmountable. No matter how close you are now, you’re bound to grow distant sooner or later."
In her eyes, as soon as Yun Mengling returned to her clan, she would soar to unimaginable heights, while Yi Xiaoyao would be left in the dust, unable to ever catch up.
But Yi Xiaoyao’s expression suddenly became calm—frighteningly calm.
"Scram."
It was the same word, but this time, it was spoken with absolute calm.
Yun Shang seemed to sense something terrifying in his calm demeanor, and her pupils contracted slightly.
But she was obsessed with saving face and certainly wasn’t about to leave so obediently.
"Yi Xiaoyao, I’ll give you one last piece of advice. You’d be better off staying in your Great Shang Dynasty, content to be the head of a chicken. Don’t come looking for Cousin Meng Ling, or you’ll find you don’t even qualify to be the tail of a phoenix. Give up now!"
After saying her piece, Yun Shang’s heart tensed, and she prepared to leave.
But at that exact moment, she felt a terrifying aura rise up behind her, sending an involuntary shudder through her entire body.
"Thinking of leaving now? It’s too late."
Anyone could sense the boundless rage simmering beneath the calm in Yi Xiaoyao’s voice.
Before Yun Shang’s expression could even change, she spun around to see the young man behind her instantly transform into a Flame Giant. An immense Flaming Giant Fist was already hurtling toward her.
"I gave you two chances to leave. You refused. In that case, I’ll help you roll!"
BOOM!!
In an instant, the shocking blaze devoured Yun Shang’s figure. Although she managed to throw up some hasty defenses, she was still sent flying backward, her body wreathed in flames as she coughed up blood.
Yi Xiaoyao had no intention of stopping there. With another leap, the Flame Giant appeared above Yun Shang before she could even hit the ground. Clasping its two flame-wreathed fists together, it formed a massive fire-hammer and brought it smashing down.
BOOM!!!
Yun Shang’s body was mercilessly slammed into the earth below. The ground trembled as a shocking, deep crater appeared, its interior scorched completely black.
"PFFT!"
A torrent of blood sprayed from her lips. Yun Shang’s battered figure staggered out of the deep crater before transforming into a streak of blue light, shooting frantically into the sky to escape. A moment later, she coughed up another mouthful of blood in mid-air.
Yi Xiaoyao watched her flee without giving chase, merely letting out a heavy, cold snort. "Hmph! I promised Ling’Er I would spare your life, but that doesn’t mean I have to tolerate your insolence!"
