Chapter 139: Comprehending Sword Momentum

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Comprehending Sword Momentum

"First on the Hidden Dragon List?" The Black Robe Hall Master chuckled strangely and said to Yi Xiaoyao, "Go ahead and read the entry for first place."

Yi Xiaoyao opened the Jade Slip to view the introduction and battle record of the person in the top spot.

"Hidden Dragon List, first place: Shangguan Tianjian of the Cloud Transformation Sect."

Yi Xiaoyao’s expression shifted, and he furrowed his brow slightly. "He’s from the Cloud Transformation Sect."

Hearing this, Yun Mengling, who was standing nearby, also leaned in for a look.

"Shangguan Tianjian, son of Shangguan Jingyun, known as the Sword of Justice. Golden Core Ninth-Layer Peak Cultivation. He once killed three Nascent Soul Realm experts with a single sword strike. His strength is unfathomable!"

Reading this, Yi Xiaoyao was amazed.

’Killing three Nascent Soul Realm experts with a single strike... that kind of power is truly terrifying. No wonder they say the top-ranked cultivators on the Hidden Dragon List can fight and even kill those in the Nascent Soul Realm.’

’Most importantly, this Shangguan Tianjian is from the Cloud Transformation Sect. He’s Shangguan Jingyun’s son, which makes him my enemy.’

Yi Xiaoyao continued reading. The person in second place was a disciple from the Seven Kills Star Hall, who also possessed a record of killing someone in the Nascent Soul Realm.

The next few on the list were also incredibly powerful. The current Yi Xiaoyao was no match for any of them. Even if he used the Soul Burning Forbidden Technique, he would only be able to escape with his life.

"So, do you still want to be number one on the Hidden Dragon List?" the Black Robe Hall Master asked with a smile.

"Of course. It might be difficult for me right now, but that won’t be a problem for long," Yi Xiaoyao replied with a confident smile.

The Black Robe Hall Master nodded. "Good. Then do you know how those people can fight, and even kill, cultivators in the Nascent Soul Realm?"

Yi Xiaoyao shook his head, but Yun Mengling spoke up. "I think it’s because they’ve all comprehended ’Momentum.’"

"Correct. It is ’Momentum.’ Take Shangguan Tianjian, for example. He excels with the sword, so what he has comprehended is Sword Momentum."

The Black Robe Hall Master continued to explain, "Sword Momentum is a level of the Sword Dao beyond Sword Qi. At its peak, it can increase a Sword Cultivator’s attack power by as much as tenfold, which is how he was able to kill Nascent Soul Realm experts."

"Sword Momentum?" Yi Xiaoyao nodded, only half-understanding. ’An increase of ten times the attack power... that’s terrifying.’

The Black Robe Hall Master smiled. "If you want to become number one on the Hidden Dragon List, you must comprehend Sword Momentum. However, this isn’t something that can be done overnight. I’m just telling you now so you’re aware of it."

Yi Xiaoyao nodded, committing the information to memory. He then said his goodbyes to Yun Mengling and departed.

As soon as he returned to his residence, Yi Xiaoyao closed the door and began his Cultivation.

He could already feel the pressure mounting from all sides. To be with Yun Mengling, in particular, he knew he had to redouble his efforts in Cultivation.

Right now, Yi Xiaoyao had his eyes closed, observing his Dantian from within.

Inside his left Dantian, a Golden Core surging with Spiritual Power floated atop the Spirit Platform within his Qi Sea. His right Dantian, however, still contained only the black Sword Scabbard.

’When I broke through to the Golden Core Realm, I only managed to form my Golden Core. I didn’t have time to cultivate the black Sword Scabbard into a Primordial Spirit Sword Embryo. I’ll start condensing it now.’

After muttering to himself, Yi Xiaoyao began to operate his Cultivation Technique according to the Devouring Sword God Technique.

An ordinary Golden Core Realm Cultivator only has a single Golden Core, but Yi Xiaoyao could also possess a Primordial Spirit Sword Embryo. Once the Sword Embryo formed, his power would skyrocket.

As he cultivated, a black, unformed mass began to appear within the black Sword Scabbard. Destructive Sword Qi frantically condensed into this mass, slowly shaping it into the form of a sword.

Half a day later, a piercing aura radiated from Yi Xiaoyao’s body. He snapped his eyes open, and the sharp aura intensified, instantly forming a powerful momentum.

CRASH!

In that instant, the tables, chairs, doors, and windows throughout the room shattered into dust.

"What!?"

Yi Xiaoyao was taken aback. ’The momentum I released unintentionally is actually this powerful.’

’Could this momentum be the so-called Sword Momentum?’

The speculation surfaced in his mind, and he immediately moved to verify it.

A needle-thin strand of Sword Qi shot out, WHIZZING through the giant tree outside his door. The tree then instantly exploded into countless splinters, scattering across the ground.

Seeing the result, an excited smile tugged at the corners of Yi Xiaoyao’s mouth.

’Just as I thought. Under the influence of this momentum, the power of my Sword Qi has increased by at least fivefold!’

The implication was obvious: the momentum he was radiating was, in fact, Sword Momentum.

Meanwhile, inside the black Sword Scabbard within Yi Xiaoyao’s body, a black Sword Embryo was quietly nestled.

The Sword Momentum he was exuding had been born along with the Sword Embryo.

In other words, Yi Xiaoyao didn’t need to comprehend Sword Momentum like others did. As long as he cultivated his Primordial Spirit Sword Embryo, he would naturally master the Sword Momentum that accompanied it.

For others, Sword Momentum had to be comprehended through Postnatal effort. But for Yi Xiaoyao, it was something he possessed innately. The difference between the two was self-evident.

Now that Yi Xiaoyao possessed both a Golden Core and a Sword Embryo, his strength was several times greater than before. Combined with the power of his Sword Momentum, he could now easily slay an enemy at the Golden Core Fifth Layer!

’But this still isn’t enough. My goal is to be number one on the Hidden Dragon List. I need to keep raising my Cultivation.’

Although gaining Sword Momentum made Yi Xiaoyao happy, he didn’t grow arrogant. Instead, he felt even more motivated and threw himself back into his Cultivation.

...

「Meanwhile, in a certain pavilion...」

A young man in a red robe stood before the Black Robe Hall Master.

This Red Robe youth had an air of innate arrogance about him and carried a long black saber on his back.

"Yun Feng, I’ve called you back this time to help a newcomer comprehend ’Momentum,’" the Black Robe Hall Master said to the red-robed youth, getting straight to the point.

The Red Robe youth’s brow furrowed slightly. He seemed surprised that the Hall Master had summoned him back for such a trivial matter.

But considering the care the Hall Master had shown him over the years, he couldn’t bring himself to object.

"Hall Master, comprehending ’Momentum’ depends on a person’s individual talent. It’s not something I can force," the Red Robe youth said.

The Black Robe Hall Master chuckled. "Of course, I know that. However, I think you’ll be interested in this particular newcomer. He’s the same Yi Xiaoyao who just made it onto the Hidden Dragon List."

"Yi Xiaoyao? You mean the guy at the Golden Core First Realm who killed Lei Zhen, a Golden Core Eighth Layer?"

The Red Robe youth was startled. He had clearly heard Yi Xiaoyao’s name before and was quite intrigued.

"What does the Hall Master want me to do?" the Red Robe youth asked.

The Black Robe Hall Master chuckled. "That Yi Xiaoyao is young and a bit too eager to show off his sharp edge. So, I want you to go knock him down a peg."

The Red Robe youth had a strange expression and sounded a bit troubled. "Hall Master, if I go to put him in his place, won’t people accuse me of bullying the weak?"

"Who said you had to use your full strength? Just use your Saber Momentum to defeat him. In the process, you can let him experience the profundities of ’Momentum’ from your own Saber Momentum. It should make it easier for him to comprehend Sword Momentum in the future," the Black Robe Hall Master explained.
