Devouring Sword God
Chapter 130: Tang Ruoxue’s Request
Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Tang Ruoxue’s Request
The Tang Family elder sensed the young man’s aura and shuddered, casting a wary glance at him.
After all, there wasn’t a single Golden Core Realm expert in the entire Tang Family Castle. Their strongest combatants were merely a group of elders at the Foundation Establishment Realm.
It was precisely because Jin Canghai, the Patriarch of the Jin Family, was a Golden Core Realm expert that he could oppress the Tang Family Castle so severely.
If Tang Ruoxue and her companion were willing to help the Tang Family Castle now, they might just be able to avert this crisis.
At this thought, the Tang Family elder softened his tone. "Miss Ruoxue, my words were rash. Please don’t take offense."
Tang Ruoxue sneered. "Enough with the pleasantries. I agreed to come back and help you, but naturally, I have my conditions."
"What conditions?" the Tang Family elder asked, his brow furrowed.
Tang Ruoxue looked up at the grand residence before them and said, "If I resolve the Tang Family Castle’s crisis, you will make my father the Fortress Master!"
"What! Miss Ruoxue, isn’t that a bit too much to ask?"
The Tang Family elder’s expression changed. ’This Tang Ruoxue really knows how to kick a man when he’s down.’
"Too much?"
Tang Ruoxue chuckled. "You asked me to come back and help you; you have to give me a reason, don’t you? If my father isn’t the Fortress Master, why on earth should I help the Tang Family Castle?"
"Miss Ruoxue, you grew up in the Tang Family Castle. The Tang Family raised you for eighteen years. Isn’t that reason enough?" the Tang Family elder said, his eyes narrowing.
Upon hearing this, Tang Ruoxue scoffed.
"If we’re using that logic, then why don’t you go find Yi Xiaoyao? He’s the Fortress Master you all chose. Besides, this whole crisis with the Tang Family Castle started because of him, yet he’s still hiding out there, too afraid to come back."
The Tang Family elder’s face fell. Ever since Yi Xiaoyao left, he hadn’t been able to find a single trace of him. How was he supposed to go looking for him?
Just then, a voice came from within the gates. "I accept your condition! As long as the Tang Family’s crisis is resolved, I will yield the position of Fortress Master to your father!"
The speaker was Tang Zhong.
After Yi Xiaoyao left, he had passed the position of Fortress Master to Tang Zhong. How could Tang Zhong stand by and watch the Tang Family be destroyed on his watch?
’If Yi Xiaoyao could give up the title of Fortress Master for the sake of the Tang Family, then he, Tang Zhong, could do the same.’
"Well, well, if it isn’t my cousin, Tang Zhong," Tang Ruoxue said, looking over at him. "I remember you’re a disciple of the Jinhan Sect. Why can’t you just ask the Jinhan Sect to help the Tang Family Castle?"
Tang Zhong’s expression flickered. He had, in fact, asked his master for help, but for some reason, the upper echelons of the Jinhan Sect seemed afraid of offending someone and had adamantly refused to offer any assistance to the Tang Family Castle.
"I’ve already agreed to your condition, Tang Ruoxue," Tang Zhong deflected. "The real question is, do you actually have the ability to help us?"
Tang Ruoxue giggled, turning to the young man beside her. "Oh, I almost forgot to introduce you. This is my Senior Brother, Guan Feng. He’s the number one genius of our Hundred Flowers Sect and has already reached the Golden Second-Level Pill Realm."
Guan Feng stated arrogantly, "I hear your arch-nemesis, Jin Canghai, the Jin Family Patriarch, is merely at the Golden Core First Realm. Dealing with him will be child’s play for me."
Hearing this, Tang Zhong finally breathed a sigh of relief. "In that case, please, both of you, come inside and have a seat."
"That won’t be necessary," Guan Feng said coolly. "I’m only accompanying my Junior Sister this time and don’t intend to stay long. Send someone to fetch that Jin Canghai right now."
With that, Tang Zhong could only agree and hurriedly sent someone to the Jin Mansion.
Soon, other members of the Tang Family heard the news and rushed over. All of them wore expressions of hope, desperate for the family’s crisis to be resolved.
Meanwhile, Guan Feng stood there, chatting with Tang Ruoxue.
"Junior Sister Ruoxue," Guan Feng asked, "I just heard you mention Yi Xiaoyao. He must be that fellow you told me about, the one who defeated and humiliated you, right?"
"Yi Xiaoyao? Yes, that’s him."
Tang Ruoxue’s expression turned chilly. That name had been a source of pain for a long time; even now, she hadn’t managed to escape its shadow.
She could never forget how that good-for-nothing she’d always looked down on had, step by step, completely surpassed her in just a few short days, grinding her mercilessly under his heel.
At this thought, Tang Ruoxue let out a harsh sneer. "But times have changed. That Yi Xiaoyao is still cowering somewhere outside, not even daring to come home. Who knows, he might already be dead!"
After leaving, Tang Ruoxue had joined the Hundred Flowers Sect. While it wasn’t a Major Sect on the level of the Cloud Transformation Sect, her talent made her a top genius within a smaller sect like the Hundred Flowers Sect.
During her time there, she received the best training the Hundred Flowers Sect could offer, with the sect’s experts personally guiding her Cultivation. Her strength had improved by leaps and bounds, reaching the Fourth Realm of Foundation Establishment.
’And Yi Xiaoyao?’
’He’s just wandering around out there all alone, with no experts to guide him and no Cultivation Resources. How much could his strength have possibly improved? How could he even begin to compare to me?’
With this in mind, Tang Ruoxue smiled. "Even if Yi Xiaoyao isn’t dead, he’s no longer a match for me! He probably hasn’t even broken through to the Foundation Establishment Realm yet."
"Heh, what a shame. I was planning on teaching that Yi Xiaoyao a lesson for you," Guan Feng said coldly.
Hearing this, Tang Ruoxue giggled. "Senior Brother, that Yi Xiaoyao is nothing compared to you. I’m so glad I got rid of him and ended up with you."
"Mm, that is true," Guan Feng said, nodding in satisfaction.
As the two of them chatted intimately, the surrounding members of the Tang Family began to show looks of displeasure.
After all, Yi Xiaoyao had once been the Tang Family Castle Lord. He had fought for the dignity of the Castle and left to protect the Tang Family. The Tang Family members deeply respected him for these actions, so hearing him being spoken of so disdainfully by these two naturally made them furious.
However, since these two were now the Tang Family Castle’s saviors, no one dared to offend them.
Meanwhile, from inside the tavern, Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling also noticed the crowd gathering at the Tang Family Castle’s gates.
"What are they doing?" Yun Mengling wondered aloud.
Yi Xiaoyao raised an eyebrow, and then his gaze suddenly shifted.
Jin Canghai, the Patriarch of the Jin Family, was riding a massive horned steed, leading a contingent of Jin Family members. They passed by the front of the tavern with an imposing air, heading toward the Tang Family Castle.
The people nearby also noticed this and began to murmur amongst themselves as they followed along to see the commotion.
"Ah, the Jin Family is here! Looks like the final confrontation between the two families is about to begin!"
"Even though the Tang Family Castle found some backup, I still think the Jin Family will come out on top."
"Let’s go, let’s go! Hurry over and watch!"
The patrons in the tavern put down their wine bowls and began to stream out, all heading in the same direction.
"We should go, too."
Yi Xiaoyao picked up the wine jug from the table, and he and Yun Mengling rose to their feet and left the tavern.
