Devouring Sword God
Chapter 100: Devouring Gravity and Magnetism
Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Devouring Gravity and Magnetism
From what Yi Xiaoyao had observed on his way up, the difficulty increased the higher he climbed. The main reason for this wasn’t that the Black Stone Puppets were growing stronger, nor was it that they revived more frequently.
The true cause was the ever-increasing, terrifying force of Gravity and Magnetism!
After all, puppets were just puppets. They lacked human-like intelligence and certainly couldn’t use any powerful Spiritual Skills.
The reason everyone struggled to defeat these Black Stone Puppets was that not only were they completely unaffected by the staggering Gravity and Magnetism, they were actually even more agile within it.
Meanwhile, the disciples challenging the tower had to endure the constant interference of the Gravity and Magnetism while fighting the Black Stone Puppets.
As a result, their movements were hampered, making it difficult to circulate and recover their Spiritual Power. They simply couldn’t fight at their usual level of strength.
In other words, within a Cultivation Tower saturated with Gravity and Magnetism, the enemies were empowered while the disciples were severely weakened. This disparity naturally made the challenge that much harder.
The only way to overcome this obstacle was to deal with its root cause: the Gravity and Magnetism.
As for Yi Xiaoyao, with every new floor he entered, the method he had in mind proved more and more effective.
This method was Devouring.
The Devouring Attribute, one of Yi Xiaoyao’s Talent Attributes, was the ultimate counter to this Gravity and Magnetism.
With the sudden, violent increase in Gravity and Magnetism on the seventh floor, his ability to devour it became all the more obvious.
This time, upon confirming that he could indeed devour the Gravity and Magnetism, a joyful smile finally touched Yi Xiaoyao’s lips.
’At this rate, getting to the tenth floor might not be so difficult after all.’
Yi Xiaoyao murmured to himself and sat down right where he stood.
He knew he could devour the Gravity and Magnetism, but completely absorbing it on every floor to fully escape its influence wouldn’t be so simple.
After all, Yi Xiaoyao had only ever tried to devour the Spiritual Power of others. He had never absorbed anything else, let alone a force as strange and unique as Gravity and Magnetism.
To achieve his goal, he would need some time to adjust and gain a deeper understanding.
Seeing Yi Xiaoyao sit down, Luo Yi assumed he’d had a breakthrough in his Cultivation. So as she continued to fight the Black Stone Puppets, she also stood as his Protector, preventing anyone from disturbing him.
A layer of Dark Spiritual Power surfaced on Yi Xiaoyao’s body. The Devouring Power within it grew increasingly stronger, its might now fully unleashed.
As time trickled by, Yi Xiaoyao was able to devour more and more of the Gravity and Magnetism, and he felt his body gradually begin to lighten.
The Gravity and Magnetism on this seventh floor was at least tens of thousands of pounds, enough to easily crush a mid-rank, Tier 2 Demon Beast.
But on Yi Xiaoyao, this force had already been reduced to ten thousand pounds, then several thousand, then one thousand...
After an unknown amount of time, Yi Xiaoyao’s eyes snapped open, his bright gaze filled with deep delight.
He took a deep, perfectly natural breath.
It was the easiest breath Yi Xiaoyao had taken since entering the Cultivation Tower. He could no longer feel any trace of the Gravity and Magnetism; it had all been consumed by the thick layer of Dark Spiritual Power covering his body.
Looking over at Luo Yi, her white silk ribbons were still dancing through the air as she fought the Black Stone Puppets.
By now, nearly a full day had passed since Yi Xiaoyao and Luo Yi had first entered the seventh floor.
It seemed this floor was already posing a significant challenge for Luo Yi. After all, she had to defeat two Black Stone Puppets forty-nine times each—a total of ninety-eight victories.
For someone like Luo Yi, who hoped to reach the tenth floor and compete for a spot in the Great Demon Ancient Tomb, having to shoulder the burden of two people was a huge handicap. Yi Xiaoyao was undoubtedly holding her back.
But Luo Yi had promised to protect Yi Xiaoyao, and she was a woman of her word, never uttering a single complaint.
Yi Xiaoyao’s eyes softened, a look of gratitude on his face. A faint smile touched his lips.
"Senior Sister, now it’s my turn to protect you," Yi Xiaoyao murmured.
Just then, the white silk ribbons in Luo Yi’s hands snapped taut, the ends striking the vital points of both Black Stone Puppets.
CLATTER! The Black Stone Puppets collapsed into piles of black stone, no longer reforming to revive.
"Junior Brother, we’ve finally cleared the seventh floor. Are you sure you still want to come with me to the eighth?" Luo Yi asked, catching her breath as she walked over to him.
Yi Xiaoyao stood up and smiled at her. "Thank you for your hard work, Senior Sister. Of course I’m going to the eighth floor."
Luo Yi’s delicate brows furrowed, her face etched with worry.
It wasn’t that she was worried about him holding her back. She was simply worried that he wouldn’t be able to withstand the Gravity and Magnetism on the eighth floor.
Furthermore, she had very little confidence in her ability to handle two eighth-floor Black Stone Puppets all by herself.
"Senior Sister, shall we go?"
Yi Xiaoyao offered a faint smile. He knew exactly what was worrying her, but from his perspective, her concerns were irrelevant.
Because from now on, he would handle everything.
Luo Yi nodded, pushed her worries aside, and led Yi Xiaoyao toward the eighth floor.
This scene finally made the surrounding disciples lose their patience.
"That Yi Xiaoyao! Having someone carry him to the eighth floor... He’s shameless!"
"He’s an Alchemy Master, you know. I’d watch my mouth if I were you."
"What’s so great about being an Alchemy Master? He has no real strength, just mooching off others and taking shortcuts. I can’t stand people like him!"
Evidently, Yi Xiaoyao had earned the scorn of everyone on the seventh floor.
Combined with his recent surge in fame and the fact that he was accompanied by a beauty like Luo Yi, their words were laced with an extra dose of jealousy.
Hearing their unpleasant remarks, Yi Xiaoyao suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Junior Brother, don’t pay any mind to their malicious gossip. They’re all talk."
Luo Yi, worried he would get angry, quickly tried to placate him.
Yi Xiaoyao gave Luo Yi a reassuring smile. "Of course I know they’re all talk. But I’m about to shut them up for good."
Hearing this, a flicker of confusion appeared in Luo Yi’s beautiful eyes. She didn’t understand what he was planning to do.
Yi Xiaoyao turned and walked toward the group that had been the most vocal in their scorn. He raised a hand and slowly drew his sword.
"The kid’s coming over here. What does he want?" someone asked, confused.
"I bet we struck a nerve. He’s holding a grudge and wants to launch a sneak attack while we’re busy fighting the puppets!"
"Exactly. Everyone, be on your guard. If he really dares to try something, we’ll teach him a lesson he won’t forget!"
The group grew wary, defensively eyeing the approaching Yi Xiaoyao.
A cold sneer touched Yi Xiaoyao’s lips. In the next instant, his body blurred into motion as he unleashed the Nine Heavens Dragon Soaring Technique. His form became an Illusion, moving at an incredible speed as his Bloodthirsty Sword carved a streak of crimson light through the air.
The disciples’ faces paled. They realized Yi Xiaoyao’s speed was completely unaffected by the Gravity and Magnetism. He was moving so fast they had no time to react, let alone dodge.
But Yi Xiaoyao wasn’t launching a sneak attack on them, as they had feared.
The next moment, Yi Xiaoyao came to a stop and sheathed his sword. Where he had just passed, ten Black Stone Puppets lay sliced in half.
"Now," a cold voice came from Yi Xiaoyao’s lips, "do you still think I have no strength? That I’m just relying on others and taking shortcuts?"
